Fashola said power supply is not rocket science. His promised 3 abi 6 months have gone come and gone several times.

If you are not wearing a shoe, you won't know where it pinches.

Anyway, they always blame GEJ. That is their full-time job anyway.

If there is one thing I know it's this:

That PMB is overwhelmed and is still unable to adequately multitask. His ministers are inept. Lastly if PMB fails, we MAY not find any1 better.

Maybe they should just transfer the gas powered turbines to NNPC to run.

Only Fashola can't get it done!

We will need years and years of committed hardwork, focus, investment and dedication to get it right!

It is a total mess and needs complete overhauling plus sustainable alternatives to support!

Despite the leaky heavens/skies water levels are still low?

Militants have gone quiet of late so I wonder what the gas constraints are this time.

I honestly do not believe this report. It is either a lie from the lake of abyss or somebody is clueless.

I suspect it is the second option

How can it be soooo hard to allow states or regions to generate their own power? This is slavery in disguise!!! Telling everyone and state to rely solely on a national grid in a country of 180 million people is the height of insanity!!! for ffffuck sake, Nigerian leaders wake tffff up!!!! Geez

Despite my very hard stance against secession, One can not help but see reasons for and with the biafra agitators!!

How long are we going to continue with this same old story?

I remember that electricity regularity was one of the major campaign promises of APC. The usual thing is how to milk already cheated consumers out of more money to pay for gross inefficiency in the value chain.

Fashola was wrong. It turns out power generation is rocket science after all. So let's go get a retired NASA scientist who understands rocket science to fix our power system.

Nigeria will never come out of dis power problems until states are allowed to generate and distribute electricity to their citizens. imagine one state generating and supplying power to 3 or more other states without a power or sub station. if d power station runs into problems, it affect all other states depending on it 4 power. that is d mess we are in right now in nigeria, until our rulers come 2 their senses and think better, nigeria will continue 2 b in darkness.

No one is stopping states or regions from generating their own power. If they have the funds and expertise, all they need to do is form a company and apply for a GENCO's license. Lagos State currently generates about 47.5MW of electricity from its five IPP power plants.

During Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration, Lagos state initiated IPP project to address the electricity needs of the state. As at today there are 5 operational Independent Power Plants namely Akute , Island, Mainland, Peninsular Integrated.

The sixth which has been commissioned called Island Power Project Expansion Phase II. Each plant was built and is managed by private companies for Lagos state.

Lagos state has its own state electricity board LSEB http://thefutureisolive.com/index.php/2016/07/28/off-grid-solutions-lagos-power/
Many, including Lagos State government have been embarking on independent power projects, and are now relying on power generated from their power installations for their domestic use. The Independent Power Projects (IPPs) of Lagos State generates 59MW of electricity into the state power grid.

Although that increased supply of electricity to the state, which is currently getting only 1,000MW of the 10,000MW estimated power need, the government demonstrated that with political will, the country can come out of total darkness orchestrated by inadequate power supply. One of the IPPs is located at Alausa to provide electricity to the state’s secretariat and other government agencies in the locality.

The project is Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) driven. It is owned by the state government and Alausa Power Limited (IPL). The plant also runs on environmentally friendly natural gas that is delivered via a pipeline from Gaslink Nigeria Limited’s existing gas distribution grid.

Facilities connected to the Alausa Power Project include the Secretariat, Alausa; Lagos Television (LTV cool; Lagos State Printing Corporation; Lagos Arts & Culture; Office of the Surveyor- General; Proposed Multi-Agency Complex and Staff Quarters I, II and III.

The power plant supplies electricity to a total of 62 public buildings, 156 government departments and over 40 offices, thereby enhancing efficient service delivery at the seat of government and other public institutions without the use of diesel generation sets.

Apart from the Secretariat complex, which includes the Government House, Lagos State House of Assembly and public service offices, the plant also powers streetlights within the area.

Through the Alausa IPP, a total of 120 electric power generating sets, producing 30.9 megawatts of electricity were eradicated. It also caused a reduction of CO2 emissions to 348,670,656 lbs annually. Today, the state government has put in place seven IPPs, with combined capacity of 59 megawatts (MW) .

Besides Alausa IPP, other power plants are Akute Independent Power Plant (12.55MW), Lagos Island one and two Independent Power Plants (10MW), Mainland Independent Power Plant (8.8MW), Lekki Peninsula Integrated Power Project (6MW) and Lekki Free Trade Zone IPP (12MW).

The Island IPP located in Marina is currently serving the General Hospital, Lagos (including the Mortuary & Doctors quarters); Island Maternity Hospital, Massey Children’s Hospital, Lagos State Health Service Commission; High Court of Lagos State, including the court annex at Tafawa Balewa Square; Igbosere Magistrate Court; Lagos House Marina; e-Learning Centre; Lagos City Hall; Freedom Park, the Lagos Waste Management Authority loading center, Dolphin and Onikan Waterworks, several public schools and public lighting installations on 22 Streets within Lagos Island. https://guardian.ng/business-services/firms-state-dump-national-grid-for-independent-power-supply/

These plants supply electricity to public hospitals, the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa as well as other state-owned public facilities, and they rely on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to power their turbines. Ask your state governor to do the same thing that Lagos State government did, in order to generate power within their domain. sad
