That's just silly.
If the FRSC rules forbids long hair on women, then by all means cut the hair and leave sentiments aside!
Even if the organisation must cut hair they should use a professional barber and not allow a pervert like this getting his jollies by touching his subordinates. Why must it be him? Is that part of his job description? Moving from one person to the other with the same scissors?
This was simply a perverted exercise in ritual humiliation and nothing to do with rules

For those supporting this idiotic show of shame. One question. What will you have said if the Comptroller of Customs had been pounced upon by the Sergeant-at-arms of the National Assembly, stripped to his boxers..... or whatever covers his 'assets' and forcibly dorned in uniform. You just don't 'assault' people in the course of executing duties. Even the military has a code of practice that forbids such except during orientation or training. Once a trainee is inducted into service he or she cannot be assaulted except he is a threat to life or safety. You can caution, lock up, suspend, whatever but you cannot lay your hands in such an individual who is not a physical threat to you.

And for heavens sake why is an organisation that is mandated with the safety on the roads be paramilitary. What is this attraction we Nigerians have for the uniform when the world is moving away from such mentality. Can we not organise our society without the threat of violence and orient people about certain values without the need to force them to. Instead of thinking through policies and strategies to save lives and minimise the carnage on our roads a senior officer is busy chasing the rats of hairdo and uniform. We are so, so high on hot air in this country and so, so empty headed on the real issues that make society worth living in.

That so called senior officer should be dismissed because he is not value for all the investment this country has made in his career.

It was bad and it was criminal, in short an assault.

That's how people trigger unnecessary crises.
Is he a trained barber?
So if the rules say women should l not wear trousers then he should restrain her and remove the trousers.?The only power he has is to send her home.He has absolutely no power to touch any part of her body.
Imagine how many people might have been killed if he did something like this in Zamfara.
All he needed to do was to ask her to go home. There are certain boundaries between men and women in every civilised society.
Even for a school child no teacher has such power how much more an adult? This is shocking .
The law says wear seat belt does it give FRSC POWER to belt you up forcefully?

Thank you, well said.
Infact, he ought to be sued.

Let me explain further.
I work for you and you are my employer. Under the law both are equal.
That is the relationship here it makes no difference that FRSC is a government entity it is just another legal person.

If we grasp the fundamentals of the Nature of that relationship then we understand the problem.
If Mikel Obi turns up at work with braids and his boss does not like it can he cut it?
If the picture had been an Indian boss with a Nigerian employee people would be singing a different song. Unemployment has caused people to misconstrue the nature of the relationship between employees and employers. I work for you AT MY LIBERTY I AM NOT YOUR PROPERTY AND WE PROVIDE MUTUAL BENEFIT TO EACH OTHER in a relationship governed by LAW

Nigerians are highly hypocritical. If this woman was suspended or even retrenched for having broken protocol, the narrative from those shouting abuse would be, just because of common hair. If she didn't want to be treated like a kid or embarrassed, why did she not do what's expected? Most Nigerians lack maturity, discipline and respect for existing orders and protocols, that's why anything goes has become the national mantra. She simply got what she asked for, cos if she wasn't wearing braids like someone going for owambe which she very well knows is inappropriate and against the dress code for an officer then we wouldn't be talking about it being cut off in the first place.
Your mindset is Barbaric!
No offence but just plain truth.
There are other measures/ways he could have handled it.Even the military don't act like this.
It's a very serious offence for a high ranking officer to assault an other rank in the military.
He should be dealt with appropriately.

Stop saying rubbish. Is the man allowed to assault and humiliate a fellow officer even if she had erred by carrying long braids?
People like you who reason very low are the cause of our backwardness in Nigeria.

There are due processes and for an organization like Frsc (bureaucratic) for every offence there should be clearly stated penalty(which cutting the hair with a scissors is doubtfully not the penalty),you cant just treat people anyhow cos you are the boss.If he has told her to kneel down, you wont see anything wrong,.Secondly,he is dealing with adults not kids.

Definition of paramilitary
: of, relating to, being, or characteristic of a force formed on a military pattern especially as a potential auxiliary military force or an auxilary combative force...

Next person who calls the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nigeria a paramilitary force suppose chop heavy conk for dia head. We are not in Columbia re-enacting scenes from Narcos or like in medieval times like Game of Thrones when the queen had her shaved by the fanatics and forced to walk the town in "shame"

The commandant did not have any right in law to cut her hair and he is lucky because in some places he would be arrested by the police for inflicting ABH. There are disciplinary procedures and responsibilities which he abidicated in his arrogance and inhumane treatment. It was wrong and he deserves a reprimand.

Soldiers shave their head or are prohibited from growing long hair for combat purposes so if they were having a fight or tussle the enemy cannot grab them by the hair and for personal hygiene too. No be for cosmetic purpose. The lady should have been instructed to have her hair in a bun or packed or have her suspended or her pay docked. The guy had a proper hard on to cut female hair that day grin

These comments shows that many Nigerians are very ignorant. Military or Paramilitary Services have their own laws and penalties for defaulters. If you have opted to join any of these services, you should be ready to abide by the rules. If they want to be models they shouldn't have joined the service in the first place. You can't eat your cake and have it, sacrifices are to be made. It is the lack of regards for little rules in the larger society that has trickled down into this mess. If you don't want to be humiliated stay within the law. They can look good without breaking the law.
