Former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega, has replied ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, over comments he made concerning the 2015 general elections.

Jonathan in a book, Against the Run of Play, written by ThisDay Editorial Board Chairman, Olusegun Adeniyi,
expressed disappointment with how Jega conducted the election.

Reacting though his Special Assistant, Prof Mohammed Kuna, Jega disagreed with Jonathan’s belief that the wide margin between the presidential election and National Assembly results in Kano State was a reflection of a flawed election.

The former President said it was strange that the state recorded 1.8 million votes in the presidential poll and 800,000 in the National Assembly election on the same day.

But Prof Kuna dismissed Jonathan’s claims and insisted that the introduction of the card reader made it difficult to manipulate elections and inflate results.

“There is nothing particularly special about the Kano result; it is a general trend as many voters were more interested in the presidential election than in other elections. That was what happened across the country and you can go and do the tabulation.

“With the card reader, it is no longer possible to return results that are higher than the accredited voters. If you analyse the results nationally, you will discover the same trend.”

Meanwhile, Senator Abubakar Girei, who represented Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone from 1999 to 2003 has slammed Jonathan for blaming his electoral defeat in 2015 presidential race on some persons.
Girei said Jonathan was the architect of his own defeat and not anyone and that he should bury his head in shame.

IJAW MAN SHOULD HV BN WISER THAN WHAT HE PORTRAYED IN POWER. ITS A SHAME THAT HE IS COMING OUT NOW TO SPUE THIS TRASH OF AN AFTER THOUGHT. ALL OF THEM SHOULD PLEASE GIVE US SPACE TO LIVE FOR GOOD.

The so called card reader is nothing but a manipulative machine for easy election rigging. It's a complete flop. The northerns know that very well cos even under age children voted tru the stupid card reader. Some voted multiple times. Trash.

Same Jega conducted elections in 2011 there was no problem when Jonathan won.

PDP did everything to truncate the use of PVC. Heck, they even postponed the elections on the excuse of trying to end insurgency.

After all said and done, Jonathan lost like the loser he is.

Go home to your Ogogoro.

CARD READER IS THE HIGHEST SCAM IN THAT ELECTION, IF U RELY ON IT 40% OF PEOPLE WILL NOT VOTE, IT WAS REJECTING PEOPLE'S FINGER PRINT WHILE SOME PEOPLE USE MANUAL VOTING IN SOME VOTING UNIT, WITH OTHERS TRYING TO USE ONLY CARD READER, UNDER AGE VOTERS IS WHAT INFLATE NORTHERN VOTES, WITH CARD READER IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE 1.2M VOTES IN ANY STATE.

There were well documented cases of underage voting in several Northern states which gave APC an edge, just as it was also clear that the election results in Rivers state were clearly rigged in favour of the PDP.

Jonathan put the interest of the country first, because he could have clearly contested the results and Nigeria would have gone down the road of destruction. What we are seeing now with herdsmen attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna would have been like child's play all across the country.

I think it is better everyone just lets issues die down. We are here with a Buhari presidency and we should accept it and make the best we can out of it. Simple.

Which useless calendar? The electoral act provided for postponement of the elections. What was the essence of going ahead with an election where over 40% of the people were going to be disenfranchised? What sort of election is that?

But it was postponed now.
Don't mind that guy making all sorts of lame excuses.

Gej is a very big liar,a corrupt one.he claims that 800,000 votes were recorded for in kano nass polls.but records shows that its false.in kano central, kwankwaso had 758,000 while his pdp opponent garnered 105,000.in kano north, barau jubril had 381,000,bello gwarzo had 107,000.in kano south, kabiru gaya had 490,000 to pdp's 145,000.if u tabulate this votes,it would be almost 2million close to the total votes as annoumced by inec in kano.so,where did gej conjour his figures from? Let him stop all this retrospective lamentations, buhari won him fair and square but the both of them also rigged sha.up buhariiiii

why exactly was Jega insisting on holding elections in February even when over 40% of people were yet to get their PVCs especially in the SS/SE where GEJ support was considered strong? GEJ ought to have taken the bulls by the horns and had him removed at that point as it was obvious then Jega was already compromised. That is why I somehow blame him for his travails

Go and ask PDP members in the South who were chopping money instead of mobilising voters on voter registration drive.

Instead of using the stolen money for the purpose intended, they were busy stashing it in empty houses. A case of thieves thieving from the chief thief.

I ws a very firm supporter of Jonathan in the 2011 and even weeks into the 2015 election cos i had sm personal issues with voting for buhari based on religious violence which he didn't handle well as a leader in his capacity BT Jonathan made me switch weeks up to the election cos of his terrible handling of Gov funds and reckless and brazen corruption taking over his whole govt and country by his officials.

I took a hard decision to vote buhari instead and so did many. Jega did his best to be fair to all.

Do me a favour, go out on the street and ask the first 10 adults you meet if they have PVC's.. their answers will shock you.

Let us do things right so that posterity will be kind to us.

if they had conducted that election 100 times buhari would have won 100 times. all the candidate cheated in their area of strong hold. Jonathan won all the states in the south south and south east his area of strength, with outrageous figures, so also Buhari. so don't kill yourself over what not. no election that is perfect, the one having the support of people always wins. Jonathan is loser.
