Every area in Lagos has it's issues:

1. The pull for certain areas on the island is that they have almost constant light, good water and security. The cons are obviously the flooding and sometimes traffic and distance from the happening areas.
2. Surulere is hailed for it's location and accessibility, but some areas are dangerous and the houses are cramped.
3. Other mainland areas have cheap houses and are secure, but the traffic na die, they have no light and they are far away.
4. While on some areas of the island there's a lack of good water, bad roads and poor transportation to contend with.

All in all, people choose to live where they live, it's not for you to come and gloat over an area's misfortunes, instead we should be brainstorming to improve the situation for everyone. It's interesting to see how people living in their own houses are tagged wannabees because they live in a specific area though

Lagos is prone to flood, hence the reason.

well, they said they wanted to live on the island. looking at that place, I think in the next 30 years, most of that region would have been covered by the sea.

there was flooding in korea, US, brazil etc these countries ve good drainages.
bad drainage is also a cause of high water level but not the only cause high torrential, rain, proximity to large river body etc can cause flooding.

Meanwhile, VGC is supposed to be one of the best planned estates in Nigeria. If it is like this due to about 4 hours rain, what will happen if it pours continually for three days?

This shows that the 'rich also cry'. This is the state of Victoria Island Garden City VGC after rainfall in Lagos today. Reports have it that some major roads have been rendered inaccessible after being overtaken by raging floods in the area as road users and motorists lament.

According to reports, the early morning downpour in Lagos which resulted in heavy flooding in VGC caused heavy traffic from Mega Chicken to VGC leading to Ajah fly-over.

IMO, residents of Ibeju Lekki are in over their head on this one and entirely on their own on this one. Lagos state govt went ahead to hastily approve estate development plans from real estate developers without properly scrutinizing the details to identify drainage network system in place and in many cases no water drainage network at all. Greedy land buyers equally also failed to ask questions about water drainage system but were happy buying several plots and cruising their cars in and out of their homes without thinking of the rainy day.
