Illiterates all over this thread.

When Econet pulled out of Nigeria, didn't subscribers continue with the SIM.

This is just a change in management structure.

It is not easy to run GSM in Nigeria. You have to spend a lot on overheads, you have to build your network from scratch (unlike abroad where you already have the basic infrastructure available), and you are competing against the behemoths of MTN and Airtel.

Plus, Etisalat was a bit late to the party. Very late. By the time they came in, Glo, MTN and Airtel had been on ground for at least 10 years. Very difficult to establish yourself in such circumstances.

Then...taking that loan. Hefty loan.

Plus with the recession....Nigerians don't buy GSM lines like they used to.

So what happens to my etisalat line now?

Nothing will happen to ur line. Another company will take over and it will look like nothing happened. Do u now how many generations airtel have gone through? Isn't their line still working? From Econet to Vodacom to Vmobile to celtel to zain to airtel

Thanks for your comment. This is just a change in management structure.
Its really surprising to see comments like I wasted my mb money to subscribe and it's gone from literate and illiterate alike. Airtel has evolved in its management several times and no one has ever been out of the network. Just a change in management and business continues to flourish
