yungmill: See, you can't eat your cake and have it. It's almost impossible for you to retain your title as the head of the family while your wife becomes the breadwinner. It's okay for a woman to be understanding and supportive if her husband loses his job but trust me when I say she would get exhausted if the man fails to Man up on time. Please let's face reality.. It is not the responsibility of any woman to be the breadwinner 1 Like |

A man who cannot take care of his family is worse than an infidel na Bible talk am. Go out and hustle while you search for job even if it's menial work do it and earn money. It's not a woman place to fend for a man. Most women cannot handle the pressure of single handedly fending for their family for long except if she's an Angel. I for one cannot fend for a man who is healthy or not handicapped. God forbid if I lose my job,I won't fold my hand,I will rather sell garri than sit at home. There's dignity in labour. Your wife is mean for keeping records,it's her family too. Let her attitude ginger you to get to a better place financially. 1 Like 1 Share |

DukeNija: But why should Ego be present between two people who claim to love each other? I would also like to know...based on your post; If ego must be present, Is it only the man's ego that should be encouraged and reverred? What about the woman's ego? Or is she not allowed to have one? If no is your answer, does that not amount to subjecting her to some form of repression and subserviency? If a woman is ready to subdue ego in order to move her relationship forward, what stops the man from doing so? Why do relationships in Nigeria have to be complicated? Why do I see most males on Nairaland advise people of their gender to go hard on women and treat them with some form of toughness etcetra etcetra... What happens when the womenfolk start advising their ilk in such light? Why do people literally enjoy treating others in ways that they would never accept to be treated? Kindly riddle me 2 Likes |

Guy...use her do juju...she no go worry u anymore and you will have a lot to spend and marry any woman of your choice(joke). To be rich and succeed for this naija...u must belong somewhere. If you/your parents no belong... Life will be bringing your sorrow 75% and 25% joy...you go work all your life with nothing to show of it. If you can testify there are cabal's on your bank office. They tried you but you no understand. My humble advice is...find a good occult and join. There's no human sacrifices on a good occult, forget that thing you dey watch for movies. They will help you get through life after 6months. 1 Like |

walex2: See This head and tail abi position dragging thingy is the problem. Why should you drag position nau? It reeks of insecurity joor. A woman will respect you if you give her reasons to...not by forcing or exacting or asserting yourself. Same way a man will respect a woman if she gives him reasons to...not by nagging and scheming and manipulating. But wait o, why do men like you love to see yourself as the head? How about working towards a relationship that is mutually beneficial? If I'm to put myself in the shoes of a woman who caters solely for the family... It would be very unfair that after hustling and haggling for the day, I come back to meet the dishes undone, the children unkempt and hungry, the house tattered and you still want me to Coman serve you food, and then have rounds of seks. Lol. Kolewerk. While you as the Head is balanced on the sofa watching TV or listening to walkie talkie radio. Check am nau.. If you are in my shoes, how would you feel? See ehn, I understand that there are jezebelous women out there. As in...nothing you do will satisfy them. But there are also women who are simply human, like you. They have emotions as well. What I know for sure is that something is triggering the attitude OP's wife is displaying. I don't know about other women, but I know that I can move everest for a man who is considerate and thoughtful. One who understands that it is not easy to bear the burden of working and wifing alone. Whether he is jobless or not, nothing beats the knowledge of knowing that the two of you can count on each other to make life more easier and worth it. That kind of man, I would be loyal and serve, even with my dying breath. I AM thankful I have that Kind 1 Like |

Obiwiz: These are the repercussions that may result when one operates under the delusion that love will resolve all issues when they eventually arise. Marriage is real; it's not a fairy tale. When the honeymoon is over, the problems that you face can reveal the worst versions of either couple. So, people should do themselves a favor by ensuring they make pragmatic decisions when choosing a mate. There's a thin line between love and hate. Finance (and the structure of it) is a real issue that must be considered well in advance. It wasn't in this case. She didn't see past the bank job to look for the 'attributes' (as per other thread) in her man, and he married her when she was not contributing financially, probably believing he would be the sole provider. They both took it for granted. Now the man is realizing his wife is unwilling to contribute without keeping a register, and the woman is realizing that that the man did not have the foresight to save or diversify (in two years, no savings) in order to protect his family from this. Bad decisions have led them to this point. But I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse. The woman might disrespect him now because he isn't contributing financially, or because she doesn't want him to get comfortable while she provides for the family. Making the conditions unbearable for him might be a way of lighting a fire under his arse. This is an explanation not a justification. This might explain the register as well. She may never have the intention to collect. But it's clear that his marriage is structured according to the old traditions where the man must provide for his family. But that was his choice. He can't now pick and choose female emancipation whenever it suits him. There isn't much he can do now, except try to find a new job or start up a business. After he gets one, he should speak seriously with his wife structuring their respective financial commitments. She won't listen to him now. 2 Likes |
