And now to K.ILL the Nigerians

New camo for Nigerian armed forces

The Nigerian Army says the service will soon get a new camouflage which will make the troops look 'smarter' and more distinguishable from impostors following recent incidents in which civilians and Boko Haram militant group members were arrested for committing crimes while wearing security services camouflage attire.

The change of uniform comes against a backdrop of rising incidents in which small military units have been wiped out by Boko Haram militants wearing identical uniforms and driving vehicles painted in services camouflage in war-zones in the restive north.

Minimah warned disgruntled soldiers against using social networks to spread “falsehoods” about alleged dire conditions in the service and information about military equipment and operations in the three war-torn northern states.

The warning follows revelations from disgruntled soldiers who have taken to social media to voice their frustrations in a dossier of complaints which includes the army's use of poor and defective equipment, lack of reliable re-supply lines, long-duration non-payment of salaries, lack of motivation and lack of operational and force protection vehicles among the reasons for high casualties as the army appears to be losing the war against Boko Haram in the north.

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday said it was moving from analog to digital motor registration using the new Digital Biometric Central Motor Registration (BCMR) system. The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the change of registration processes of vehicles, tricycles, and auto-bikes from the old analogue CMR to the new digital BCMR system will take effect from September 16. Mr. Mba said introduction of the BCMR comes against the backdrop of contemporary security challenges bordering on terrorism, high incidence of car theft, carjacking, kidnappings and other acts of crimes and criminalities in our society. “Unlike our hitherto analogue based procedures, the BCMR operates on smart-cards and portable hand-held receiver and is a specially developed technological means of attaching automobile owner’s unique traits and personal data to their vehicles for proper identification and protection purposes.” Mr. Mba said He further stated that the police BCMR are designed to be used for forensic analysis; fingerprints can be matched or verified against registered finger prints collected during registration. It is also designed to match 20 million fingerprints per seconds (the speed depends on the size of registered prints) 20 million fingerprints is equivalent to 2 million people (10 prints per person).

@augustus the process of digital registration was first done in South Africa in 1983

The Nigeria police, especially the rank and file, are the least paid among corresponding security agencies in Nigeria, a failing that fuels corruption. Sylvanus Udo has a telling way of explaining how to keep a wife and four children, pay for the children’s school fees, rent an accommodation and buy food for years with a little more than N40, 000 – his take home pay after 25 years as police officer. “Only through black magic could anybody feed his wife and four children for 30 days with the kind of salary the Nigeria Police pays me,” he said recently. Intensely passionate about his job, Mr. Udo works under weather elements at his traffic duty post in Lagos, shrewd at persuading wayward motorists to obey traffic laws. But after putting in a quarter of a century on a job he so cherishes, his gross annual salary stands at N577, 234, while his gross monthly pay stands at N55, 147. When tax and sundry deductions are made, Mr. Udo, a sergeant, goes home with less than N48, 000, 00 every month. His colleagues with accommodations in the police barracks, part with additional N7, 000 for that privilege and go home with even less monthly. -

There has to be serious concern that some of those involved in such violations may be selected for UN peacekeeping…” Following reported cases of human rights abuses and acts of unprofessional conducts perpetrated by men of the Nigerian Army and Police Force, a report on the Vetting and Selection of UN Peacekeepers has demanded a “prompt development of a National Policy on Peacekeeping Support Operations in line with the 2012 UN policy on human rights screening. The report, which is a brainchild of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) in conjunction with the Open Society Foundations, observed that this is imperative following cases of human rights violation by Nigerian troops and police officers in peace-keeping assignments. The Executive Director of CISLAC, Awul Rafsanjani, said the repeated cases of rights violations and abuses by Nigerian troops on peace-keeping assignments have undermined the image of the country in the international community. “For instance, the conduct of Nigerian forces in Liberia in the 1990s where they were implicated in the sexual abuse of many women resulting in many unwanted pregnancies and the recent case in 2011 when a unit of a Nigerian police peacekeeping contingent was withdrawn from Congo for sexual misconduct have damaged Nigeria’s international reputation,” he said. Mr. Rafsanjani also observed that there is no mechanism in the army or police to sift out soldiers and policemen accused of rape and sexual violence from participating in international peace-keeping operations.

Deplorable State Of The Nigerian Police College, Ikeja

The Nigeria Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State is the first in the country. In a recent video report by ChannelsTV, the very deplorable situation of the College is shown in the following images. While posting this, I cannot but wonder what our leaders have been doing. It is a big shame indeed upon the Nigerian government and all their supporters.

World war I and II air combat is not useful today where missiles and electronics rule the air.

South Africa has ZERO experience of 4th Generation air combat with jets carrying seeker head missiles, your Mirage F-1 Vs MiG-23 combat of 1980s is an ancient warfare. Only Ethiopia and Eritrea have modern jet vs jet combat experience in all Africa, even Egypt doe not have such experience.

Stop boasting of what you do NOT have...Fraudster !

Seeker head missiles? LOLm. The MIGs and Mirages fired live missiles at each other. SA is the first nation to introduce HMDs,yet you wanna compare Nigeria with SA regarding experience of flying jets?

Now you begin to make data-link look very simple to justify your police data-link claims, if the above post you made is all there is to data-link, then Nigeria has one of the best data-links in the world, our Navy detects pirates ship far away in Angola, and shared the data with our ships in West Africa to intercept it with online-real time tracking of the ship in Southern African waters near your backyard in your own SADC region of influence, we shared the pirate ship's minute by minute location with Nigerian aircraft and ships till our men arrested the pirates....that is data-link in practical combat action...show us how you use Mandela's famous data-links at international level....

.

There is absolutely no question about this. Our navy has one of the best data-links in the world.

It is evident in the rescue of the two ships off Angola and ghana.

@AUGUSTUS SO MUCH ABOUT BEING IN THE LEAGUE OF SOUTH AFRICA

Apart from the poor physical state of many of them, they are largely run on charity.
Investigations shows that some of the police stations in Nigeria get as low as N35,000 as allocation from the force headquarters per quarter.

This is the reason why in all the states of the federation, many police stations rely on philanthropic gestures from members of their host communities and proceeds of bribery to function effectively. And that is why inscriptions such as ‘Donated by Welders Association’, ‘Community Development Association’ are constant features on many items and facilities found in many police stations in the country.

From rehabilitation of buildings, to fuelling of patrol vans and generators that serve the stations, many Divisional Police Officers appear to have turned into beggars of some sort, asking for a certain amount of money to make a statement when one goes to report an incident.

Even after taking such statements and there is a need to make an arrest of those reported, the policeman on duty asks the complainant to drop another N2, 000 to fuel the police patrol vehicle.

@AUGUSTUS SURELLY BY NOW YOU ARE HUMILIATED BY THESE REVELATIONS....YOU SHOW NEW CARS BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE SITUATION OF THE BK AND YOU CLAIM TO BE NOW BETTER THAN SOUTH AFRICA

Nigerian authorities are insincere about Policing within the country.

When Chief Superintendent of Police Musa Garba said the challenges facing the Mpape Police Station located in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, are “enormous”, he wasn’t overstating it. For the past three years, this Police divisional headquarters has remained an eye sore.

On a tour of the station during the annual Police Stations Visitors Week (PSVW) held from October 31 to November 6 in 21 countries across 5 continents which aims at improving police-public relations, Mr. Garba showed members of the public four discarded shipping containers turned operational base. It is from here 93 police personnel manage one patrol vehicle and are expected to provide security to one of the most densely populated satellite towns in the country’s Federal Capital Territory.

“As you can see there is no block building. The whole police station is made up of just four containers,” said the Mpape Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who occupies one container. “This place initially served as an outpost but ever since it was upgraded about three years ago nothing has changed. We currently have only one non serviceable vehicle which is presently grounded. This is what we have to make do with.”

The NPF has suffered tremendously under various administrations in the last twenty years and I think it's high time they enjoyed the so-called dividends of democracy. The rank and file of the NPF stinks right from the Inspector General of Police, the various Assistant Inspectors General of Police, the State Commissioners, District Police Officers, District Crime Officers, Inspectors, Sergeants, Corporals and loads of recruits.

I pity an average police officer in Nigeria as they have been neglected for a very long time: let's take a look at some of the anomalies that exists within a typical police station: A typical police station say ALAKARA POLICE STATION(That's even a very stupid name to start with) in Mushin Local Government area of Lagos State is nothing to write home about, the rank and file are bunch of illiterates, a wanderer(This is defined by the NPF as a Nigerian arrested at 7pm, driven about town till 1am and then charged at the police station for strolling peacefully as a result of no electricity at home) is taken to the station and the next thing they ask him at the dilapidated counter is to provide money to buy a writing pen so as to be able to log his biodata in, he is then beaten mercilessly before taken into the stinking cell alongside real criminals and if per-adventure none of his relatives shows up, he becomes a forgotten entity at the already congested AREA D Office before being taken to Kirikiri.

You're a dummy, no offence.

There are clearly 2 different laws for 2 different types of people.

The isrealis have murdered 2000 civilians in 30 of fighting in gaza, and you want to compare it with the counter-terror operations in the north-east.

We have seen over 1500 images of troops in the north-east conducting COIN/CTOIN operations in a professional manner as you would expect of a national army.

The terrorists who amnesty international are defending have murdered more than 600 civilians this year alone. In many case, troops rescuing villages have been ambushed with help from the villagers they are trying to protect.

Baseless accusations like we see today are always expected, it isn't new.
