AugustineAgain: No you dont. South Africa has 89 combat helos - each and every one is 100% confirmed Nigeria has 101 known combat helos SANDF size: 89 000 Ratio of men to helos: 921 men per helo Nigerian Armed forces: 130, 000 Ratio of men to helicopters: 1287 men per helo We are still the more air-mobile force |

NaijaPikinGidi: That is not the point. And it never was and actually, only 9 million South Africans dont have access to electricity http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EG.ELC.ACCS.ZS and btw, i was wrong - only 49% of Nigerians have access to electricity which means that in actual fact around 90 million nigerians dont have electricty There are twice as many nigerians without electricity as there are south africans in total |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 12:36pm On Oct 11, 2014 |
Patchesagain: 30% of South Africans have no electricity AT ALL.....they have NEVER see a light bulb in their lives as at today 2014 World Bank does not have accurate data on Nigeria. They made errors on our poverty rate and complain of no data. There is no place in Nigeria without electricity connected, irregular supply is the problem. The Nigerian's you talk about have irregular electricity supply, not that they have never seen it before like the 15 million lost South Africans who suffer in the midst of plenty, their country produces more electricity than most of Africa, yet they never get to a see a light buld till they grow old and die....what a foolish country South Africa is, so great ineqiuality and yet you say you are advanced like Europe. Have you seen an European country where 15 million people have ZERO electricity supply? You claim to be more advanced than Russia . |

AugustineAgain: Only 49% of your population have access to electricity 84% of our population has electricity supply, up from 74% during the 2004-2008 period. Yet again, we beat you hands down |

Patchesagain: Combat helicopters, I mean armed assault or attack, not transports. SAAF = 10 Rooivalks NAF = 30 Hinds and Terminators 2013, 2 of 6 extra delivered 2014, 40 extra ordered Russia 2014, 12 extra ordered Belaruss 2014. NAF will be = at least 88 armed assault/attack helicopters by 2015. SAAF will be stuck with 10 Lets stop repeating this same old argument that has been proved many times. . 1 Like |

Patchesagain: Pat actually those stats of world bank are inaccurate. I watched the programme on SABC somewhere around winter where it was announced that over 95% households in SA now are electrified with electricity. Those stats are somehow outdated. |

Patchesagain: Better? Sorry if that is your point ... you are wrong!! #Point is ... leave no one without electricity and then the world will listen to your claims! We are Nigeria and we power our lives and businesses no matter the shortfall from the National Grid. Biggest and best economy on the continent. Patchesagain: 15 million South Africans is 30% of your population. So 70% of your people have NEVER seen one flicker of an electric bulb in their lives. There are NO such people in Nigeria, we got independence in 1960 and ECN to NEPA to PHCN connected every household to national grid over time, and if any small hamlet misses national grid, they have a Tiger electricity generator and fuel is flowing like water, they produce their own electricity till we connect them. South Africa got freedom from white-man's cage in 1994 and you have not finished clearing the mess of your wasted generation, of which those 15 million people are a part of the victims of your Boer White master's inhumanity to man . 1 Like |

A Nigerian friend of mine based in jozi was telling me yesterday that young Nigerians can hardly give names of their cabinet ministers but can easily give names of south African ministers...he also told me that many young Nigerians can find it difficult to give names of Nigerian cities but can easily sing about south African cities even on their sleep.. I have been counting threads on this forum, threads that are discussing south African domestic issues triple those discuss Nigerian domestic issues.. Is it every Nigerian dream to live south African life?or is south Africa the role model of Nigeria?99 percent of nairalanders always use south Africa as a comparison in any issue or comment they make....is south Africa for Nigerians or south Africa for south Africans?e.g many Nigerians on this forum express their unhappiness to see white south Africans still living in their country, does that mean Nigerians want to see black south Africans driving white people to the sea so that they(Nigerians) can occupy the vacuum...? source www.erozahatenoone.co.za |

11% of SA households still without electricity BY: LEANDI KOLVER The percentage of South African households with access to electricity had increased by 8.2% between 2002 and 2012, from 77.1% to 85.3%; however, a large amount of households were still without electricity or could not afford to use adequate electricity to satisfy their needs, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. According to its General Household Survey (GHS), in 2012, 1.45-million, or 11%, of South African households did not have access to electricity, while another 3.6%, or 578 005, households accessed electricity informally or illegally. Out of the 3.6% without formal access to electricity, 73.1% were connected to an informal source that the household paid for, while 11.7% made use of illegal connections. “Although significant progress has been made by the national electrification programme to provide electricity to all households, future progress will be hampered by the cost-ineffectiveness of providing mains electricity to remote rural households and the difficulty of providing electricity to predominantly informal dwellings in largely unplanned and unstructured informal areas,” Stats SA said, adding that alternative sources of energy, therefore, had to be considered. “Emphasis should be placed on off-grid renewable-energy solutions to improve energy access for remote and difficult-to-service poor households,” the organisation noted. Further, the GHS found that, while rural households remained more likely than urban households to be without electricity, at 19.7% compared with 12.4%, up to 40.4% of households in informal urban areas also did not have access to mains electricity. In rural areas, 33.5% of households in formal rural areas and 17.3% of households in tribal areas did not have access to mains electricity. The highest percentage of households connected to the main grid were reported in the Northern Cape and the Free State, with 91.9% and 91.5% of households connected respectively. Stats SA further said 98.2% of households with access to electricity used it for lighting, while 84.5% did so for cooking. “This is significant as lighting is estimated to account for only about 5% to 10% of the energy http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/11-of-sa-households-still-without-electricity-2013-11-14 |
