Every Young man in South Africa had to do minimum of 2 years conscription

after that they can do what ever they like,and if you dont, you go to jail as simple as that.My Dad had to do his conscription in the 80s as well.

Even if he was mistaken for a target those boats are not directly engaged, it would be normal if they fired behind or in front of him.

Only stripped old vessels are sunk as this is cost effective.

I Actually read today on the SAAF forum that the guy who first reported on the Good hope Exercise accident involving the fishing boat also suspects it was the Germans and not the SAN that fired on the boat.

Mr Dean Wingrin was the first journalist to report on the incident.
