It took/taking your military 6 years to defeat a rag tag rebel force! impressive!
And you still have 0 proof that it was a SAN ship.

20 000 X 25 years =

The only joke here is that Nigeria has never fought a modern war against a uniformed opponent

SADF had 4,000 troops at frontline, rotating then every 6 months or 3 months means another 4,000 troops go in and you recycle the two groups, maximum is 4,000 + 4,000 = 8,000 men that saw war.

Fact still remains that at any point in time ONLY 4,000 SADF troops are deployed in battle.

If you count rotation for Nigeria, means about 60,000 troops fought Boko Haram war. Can SADF history match that in modern times?

Uniformed opponent, yes Nigeria fought Biafra that had soldiers uniform, ranks, officers with military training from Britain's world class military academies, national currency, national bank, national court, university, army, navy, air force

Was the enemy armed with any modern equipment?

Have you faced integrated air-defence networks? VLS and artillery barrages? Engaged in Brigade sized armoured battles? Air assault? Enemy jet aircraft?

You have not fought any modern war

America uses F-18 jets and cruise missiles, as well as composite armour tanks, artillery, Apache, Predator missile drones against mere illiterate insurgents that have no uniform. Israel uses the great Makerva tanks and F-16 jets with PGM against local Hamas fighters that have no uniform.

IRA has no uniform but brought Britain's military to her knees for 27 years. An enemy is a killer once he has weapons.

Cuban weapons were all vintage 1960s to 1980s weapons used by teenagers, boys and girls from cuba with NO WAR EXPERIENCE, your SADF was beaten up by girls from Cuba !

T-55 tank and MiG-21 are vintage weapons, MiG-23 flown by teenage pilots all rookies from tiny Cuba.

At the end, South Africa almost lost the war and begged United Nations to arrange peace negotiations.

What's the boast about a war SADF failed to win?

Nigeria won ALL her wars from 1967 to 2015.....South Africa has NEVER won any war fighting alone !

How does this post change the fact that Chad did and does a lot of the heavy lifting. That Chad has embarrassed Nigeria. That Chad is deemed to be the best military in the region. That Nigeria is ask but absent.

How does this change the fact that the Nigerian military is clearly pathetic?

Sorry, it just shows Deby of Chad is desperate because he has been restricted to the border regions and can't share in the glory, hence he is mouthing off.

He has been caught lying several times saying he had liberated territory when he hadn't. His troops were supposed to clear thee towns including surrounding areas not raid and take photos only to run away.

No one can take this away from the Nigerian Army, not even your mechanics.

gbam!,Chad has been a suspicious element in this boko haram saga, infact,i'm tempted to conclude that they directly equipped or deliberately allowed the weaponization and training of the jihadi group through indigenous channels.
Idris deby expected our military to take orders from him, lol, even world superpowers couldnt bend our military to their whims.
Many times we have been called to hold territories supposedly liberated by chad, only to arrive to meet a different reality on ground, for example,a month ago when chad claimed to have liberated dikwa, our troops were called to hold the fort, only to enter directly into a boko haram ambush that saw us losing a few of our gallant troops. This also has the effect of distracting our troops and allowing terrorists to cause unnecessary disturbances in place where we formally liberated.
What are we paying them for if they cant hold a few small towns in strategic border regions?.

It's rather pathetic that all the 'Heavy Lifting' labours of Chad + Niger Republic + Cameroon = 10 %

Labour of Nigeria alone = 90%

Nigeria did 9 times the combat effort of 3 other countries all combined together.

Means Nigeria alone = African Union, AU.

Egypt is calling Nigeria to come fight ISIS, the Egyptians don't even know that Chad and South Africa exists as both countries ruined their military history with the failure to stop Seleka rebels and bring total peace to Central African Republic.

Chad and Nigeria are not in the same region, Nigeria is West African, Chad is Central African.

Chad has embarrassed itself, the so called 'best military' in the region has NO air force grin

Nigeria flew 100 % of the air war with 6,000 sorties including 3,000 combat sorties.

All the towns 'liberated' by Chad had been softened up by massive NAF air bombardment from December 2014 to January 2015 demolishing almost all the heavy weapons of Boko Haram before Chad and MNJTF were allowed to go in February and mpo up what was left of a battered Boko Haram wrecked by 3,000 air to ground attack sorties of Nigerian air force.

The only attempt by Chad to do air combat with it's mercenary European air force pilots ended in disaster with the broad daylight error bombing that killed 30 innocent civilians in Niger Republic.

Yes, to the mentally ill and psychologically deranged, Chad had the 'best military' in the region.

SADF was a conscript army

4000 did their tour of duty. They then leave the army.

The next batch get conscripted and sent in.

And so on, the men are not permament soldiers. My very own father served briefly in SWA during the mid 70's.

Small numbers were professionals or reservists who were called up for multiple tours but the vast majority were Consripts doing their 2 years of service

Really ? The whole 4,000 troops leave SADF army every 6 months and become civilians?

Dismissed, retired, discharged, sacked from the army after few months in Angola war zone ?

How soon do you train the new inexperienced soldiers and jet fighter pilots in 6 months to take over from the dismissed 4,000 troops?

We saw Colonel Eben stayed in SADF all throughout the years of Angola war, he was in military service until Mandela became president and retired him.

The same way every other conscript army in the world works. You do your two years in service and then are discharged and held in reserve.

Like I said, there were some professionals, but the vast majority were conscripts.

How you dont know what conscription is and how is works is pretty amazing considering your recent (delusional) claims that you are a "military researcher"

Dude! what is so difficult to understand about how conscript armies work?
Every Young man in South Africa had to do minimum of 2 years conscription, after that they can do what ever they like, and if you dont, you go to jail as simple as that.My Dad had to do his conscription in the 80s as well.

Phantom white conscripts, fake battalions and brigades that never got to battle zone 1,000 km away from home.

And can you please post a source that only 4000 of the same men fought the entire 23 years...........you know what dont bother because you cant!

Only a handful of permanent soldiers fought more than 2 years on the border.

"SADF troops inside Angola that did the real fighting was FULL OF FOREIGN WHITE AND BLACK MERCENARIES"

Only a handful of battalions consisted foreigners most famously the 32 battalion, and those so called mercenaries were trained, equipped and commanded by the SADF.("The SADF 32 battalion consisted of around 600 riflemen and NCOs (non-commissioned officers) (mostly Angolan nationals associated with the former FNLA) and mainly South African officers,"wink

Further enlargement and modernisation of the armed forces continued under former defence minister Pieter Willem Botha, who became state president in 1984.[41] Shortly after Botha took office, the SADF numbered some 83,400 men (including 53,100 conscripts and 5,400 non-whites): one armoured brigade, one mechanised infantry brigade, four motorised brigades, one parachute brigade, a special reconnaissance regiment, twenty artillery regiments, supporting specialist units, a balanced air force, and a navy adequate for coastal protection in all.[2]

Indigenous units weren't integrated into the SANDF.

Thee philistines were on short contracts.

The SADF called its reserves and deployed a full division in Namibia in anticipation of a division sized Cuban attack, and no the SADF 20 SA brigade under Colonel Deon Ferreira wasn't threatened with being encircled.

20 SA Brigade of less than 3900 isn't the SA army. Cuba had more than 20 000 troops in Angola "with their best anti-craft batteries" deployed.

That Eben you keep praising and willing to su..ck his.......... wasn't any special in the SADF nothing compared to men like Colonel Breytenbach, Lieutenant General Deon Ferreira, Major General Rudman, Major Nortmann.

Nothing close to the men who executed Operation Collidge.

Both navies have used SAMs, Main guns and anti-ship missiles to sink stripped retired or donated vessels and boats.

They don't sink those training remotely controlled boats.

The whole story is just not well reported by our anti-SANDF media houses.
