Both navies have used SAMs, Main guns and anti-ship missiles to sink stripped retired or donated vessels and boats.

They don't sink those training remotely controlled boats.

The whole story is just not well reported by our anti-SANDF media houses.

SA MERCENARIES EARN FORTUNE IN NIGERIA.

“The guys deserve good and you can not
blame the Nigerian contract was not
attractive to them,” Netwerk 24 quoted one
informed Beeld as saying, adding that the
command group earned apparently
N5,882,181.22, (R360 000) per month,
while the more “junior” contractors earned
about N2,941,090.61 (R180 000.)

"BBC, AFP, VOA, CNN, New York Times, Aljazeera, Sahara Reporters"
Internationally acclaimed news sites, thus objective in there views.

Quoting comments i see, well theres this dude on Beegeagle, Augustine(you), he says that one SAN sub can sink the entire NN, NAF is only ranked 11th in airpower in africa, Nigerian army has the most obsolete weapons in Africa, and he also wishes that Nigeria one day can be as technologically advanced as South Africa

lastly the guy who first reported on the incident also suspects it was a German vessel:

[quote author=lezz post=32043878]
Nigeria's foreign policy has always had Africa at the centre since independence. So we played our role in apartheid southafrica, boycotting the common wealth games, pseudo-economic blockade with Great Britain, giving scholarships to ANC members and contributing money as well.

That didn't get us anywhere, immediately after apartheid, Mandela came in and the first thing he did was ask the West to sanction Nigeria over the Ogoni 9 in 1996.

On what grounds did Mandela ask the West to sanction Nigeria? you need to throw more light to that because it contradicts the information I have.

During the Laurent Gbabo Ivory coast brouhaha, south Africa stationed a war ship in west African coastal waters when Nigerian led ECOWAS was still mediating on the crisis.

That was a disrespectful, tactless and political naivety from rookie, senseless south African government. Nigeria oversees the affairs of west Africa through ECOWAS, any body or group interfering makes standard consultation and assessment .

That was a misinterpretation of facts, Nigeria was confused and had no position whatsoever evidenced by their nerd following of the west, how many peace Negotiation agreement did Nigeria witness let alone being a signatory to at the onset of the conflict? I could still remember vividly countries like Italy/Turkey, SA who tried to give Gaddafi a soft landing by promising to grant him asylum so long as he abdicates the throne, what did Nigeria offer?

You said Nigeria was mediating please can you tell us how?? South Africa did what they did because Nigeria was sleeping. Nigeria was in a hurry to answer yes sir!! by quickly recognizing the TNC, on the part of SA, they demanded that Ghaddafi be responsible for the slaughter of immigrants who happen to be their citizens, Gaddafi's failure in that regard prompted SA to support TNC, trust me that is a good reason in my books, SA gave Ghadafi a chance to do the right thing, in Nigeria's case, did we even send a single official cable to Ghadafi demanding for the slaughter to stop? even when it was glaring that most victims were blacks and Nigerians too? even if we did, it was after we have officially recognized the TNC so how do we expect ghaddafi to act under such circumstance?

In a show of shame we managed to send Arik air to go and rescue our citizens because other responsible countries were doing so, to emphasize on the shabby rescue ops they conducted, Arik came back near empty because the people to be rescued were trapped, meanwhile, other responsible countries sent their planes with special forces to evacuate nationals from red zones, is that what you call a responsible government?

Nigeria is a power broker in Africa but her political maturity does not give her the freedom of going into .northern or southern African territories to resolve dispute without consultation with the power brokers in those regions.

How can that be true when all the Nigerian institutions have collapsed due to corruption and nepotism? Your statement about Nigeria is mere petty jingoism, Niger delta militants and Boko haram have the final say on this issue.
How can you be a power broker when you have a failed leadership? How can you be a power broker when no sane power broker in the world want to associate with you? when you lack simple foreign policy, with clepto maniacs at the helm of affairs?
where have you succeeded on the African stage in the past 5yrs?

who is the AU chairman? and who formed the African Union? it was the Brainchild of SA if you dont know, since OBJ in 2004, exactly 11yrs today, no Nigerian head of state has assumed that seat are you suprised?

Where is your Bakassi peninsular? why is Chad and Niger on Nigerian soil recapturing territories from Boko haram under the very eyes of the pseudo power brokers?

Africa seems to be too big, let me narrow it down to West Africa, who ousted Laurent Gbagbo, your west african tyrant? what really qualifies you as a power broker in Africa? because of population, trade and investment? when you are corrupt all those economic indices count for nothing.
In the face of being the biggest economy in Africa, 70% of Nigerians still live in poverty according to NBS, so what is the noise about?

Germany nearly bought over most of Greece's, Polish bonds and some other countries alike in a bail out process, the same thing has befallen Ghana your west African cock mate, were you able to bail Ghana out? Continue deceiving yourself when the whole world no longer take you seriously.

You refused United States Proposal for AFRICOM in your pseudo flexing of Lizard muscle, Boko haram has arrived, you went to Paris to beg Chad a responsible nation who accepted AFRICOM surveillance command center on their soil, do we know shame at all?
why were the Nigerian leaders not able to project the security implication of accepting AFRICOM?

The countries that are involved what has happened to them?

15yrs ago, you may be right but presently when Corruption and nepotism has finished Nigerian institutions, you are blowing an empty pipe.

At the heat of ghadafi's ouster in the Libyan civil war, Nigeria wanted ghadafi out because of his expansionist agenda in west Africa. Viewing Nigeria as a threat to this plan, he has called for the disintegration of Nigeria. Consequently Nigeria was the first country in Africa to officially recognise the rebel fighters (our international power play and foreign policy had always been spot on), and you realise that the ANC of southafrica took Nigeria's position to be openly criticized. The ANC had the balls to criticize Nigeria's government for supporting the rebels. ANC international political near-illiterates questioned the stance of the Nigerian government internationally.

As much as Ghadafi's comment was unfortunate, you have your facts twisted, Ghadaffi's agenda was tabled at two AU meetings for member states to deliberate on, can you prove that Nigeria blocked it at the AU, if so how? you seem to be feeding yourself with unripe speculations and Gulder inspired facts.
Nigeria said they are not interested likewise, Most successful economies in Africa at the time, SA, Morocco, Egypt Kenya etc, Nigeria never posed a threat to his plan in any visible way, why did ghadaffi not propose the break up of Egypt, SA, Kenya, morocco and other uninterested African nations?

The USA equally made same prediction, is Ghaddafi the president of the US? instead of fixing culpability where it belongs, you are deluding yourself, have you bothered to find out why two nations with superior intelligence gathering capabilities is giving Nigeria a tough verdict?

You asked why Egypt has remained passive in AU, well not only Egypt but all of north Africa are essentially middle eastern!!!

Egypt isn't African any more than Turkey is European. Occupying the geographical space of Africa or Europe so rare a times don't cut it.Egypt situated in Africa only makes her African geographically. She is the leader of the Arab world.

Well, irrespective of their skin, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco are all white/arabic member states so what are you talking about? Their membership remains intact so what makes them less members? dont you think it may be because Arab league is more organised and more responsible than the AU?
You don't think they wield better influence than AU? why do you enjoy lying to yourself?

In the past 10yrs, Arab league has intervened in areas that AU can hardly dream of.

While AU was still dragging its feet to intervene in Nigeria by approving of 7,500 contingent to fight Boko haram with no clear mobilization date, at the expense of 15,000 Nigerian lives, Arab league has already intervened in Yemen to reinstate President Salem from Houthi rebels, can you see the difference?

AU has proved with Libya, Ivory coast and Mali that they are an unserious organisation, do you expect serious countries to be active in an unserious organization? AU is meant for unserious countries like Nigeria not Egypt.

Also, you said Europe is united, I beg to scream my disapproval. The French rivals the Germans and the Brits rivals both, Italy is always trying to bully the Germans.. the EU is a community of economic and political alliance built on the premise of mutual fear and distrust of each other.

When the recently held referendum was held to determine if Scotland would become independent of the UK, France was literally petrified despite a century long support and alliance with Scotland, she never wished Scotland independence.
She didn't want a divided UK to leave her alone to tackle the growing power and influence of Germany in Europe. France wanted Scotland to ramain in UK for fear of Germany lording it alone over Europe.

There's isn't all that naive cooperation in Europe

What is wrong with that? it is called national interest in English.

During the Ebola outbreak, Nigeria was hit but we quickly curtailed and defeated Ebola and immediately sent help to our west African neighbours.

Lagos state alone sent out trained medical expert and personnel and relief materials to train and help other less experience doctors of Ebola ridden countries. The Nigerian government gave cash in dollars and aids. So it wasn't only IMF and the west that supported Africa.

You are guilty of the misrepresentation of Africa's/Nigeria's history. That is worse than the crime you accused Evarn of.

Nigeria was not supposed to have Ebola in the first place, Ebola got to us as a result of corruption, in case you don't know, the FG budgeted 480m for control of infectious diseases since 2012 as enshrined in the ministry of health budget, Ebola's WHO alert for west Africa was released in August 2012, till 2014 when patrick Sawyer struck, Nigeria has no single infrared thermometer in her biggest airport, shameful enough?
why should i care about how Ebola was contained?
Trust me, if not for Lagos state with sane administrators, we would have degenerated to Liberia, hope you read about the sacrifice of Dr Adadovah? those are the real Ebola heroes.

Still on Ebola, The success of Nigeria was characterised by a quarantine system and contact tracing implemented by WHO personnel and MSF
hear directly from an Ebola survivor;

“Dr. David, the Caucasian man who had met me at the ambulance on my arrival, came in wearing his full protective ‘hazmat’ suit and goggles. It was fascinating seeing one live. I had only seen them online. He brought bottles of water and ORS, the oral fluid therapy which he dropped by my bedside. He told me that 90 percent of the treatment depended on me. He said I had to drink at least 4.5 litres of ORS daily to replace fluids lost in stooling and vomiting. I told him I had stooled three times earlier and taken Imodium tablets to stop the stooling. He said it was not advisable, as the virus would replicate the more inside of me. It was better he said to let it out. He said good night and left.
http://dailypost.ng/2014/09/15/ebola-second-doctor-infected-patrick-sawyer-survives-tells-full-story/

Since when did Nigeria hire Caucasian doctors? it is all in the news!! Aljazeera showed so many of them on TV, you forgot that at the onset of the crisis, Nigerian doctors were on strike and till the end, it took the efforts of volunteers to tame the scourge.

Stay away from beer parlors it is no longer good for your memory, a friendly advice though.

@jpphilips,your lack of self-worth threw me into a state of chronic disarray.you do not understand how international politics works, neither do you comprehend the subtle intricasies of national interests
It is particularly funny how you labelled FRN a puppet country, and then later made a U-turn by faulting our decision of resisting the establishment of the US controlled AFRICOM on Nigerian soil.what should i call that?hypocrisy?,you think the US wanted to set up a military command centre on Nigerian soil simply because they felt the need to held us protect our territorial integrity out of the goodness of their heart?
your attempts to subvert our Nigeria's symbolism are regrettably mischievious,as are your subtle jabs against lezz.
In one of your posts, you supported each region of Africa having a regional police, but here you are, flippantantly slapping away any modicum of integrity you had left by clearly supporting SA's diplomatic blunder of interfering in west african affairs.i will take your points one by one

@iamord,you have greatly disappointed me by making this misguided statement.frankly,i thought you were above such petty immature theatrics.
if not,why applaud the ramblings of a man with a mentally constipated mode of reasoning?.what makes you believe that @jpphilips is "knowledgeable of african affairs"?,all the points he stated were impotent fallacies:
Contrary to what jpphilips claims;
Ghadaffi was ruthless dictator with an unholy vision of PAN-african expansionism, the man proposed a single currency system that would have tied the whole african economy to the libyan crude oil oligarchy.
Nigeria was the single african country who contributed the highest during the heat of the west african ebola outbreak,as well as during the Namibian draught crisis of 2013-2014.
Nigeria makes the 4th largest contributions to the UN peace keeping force.
If we want to criticize, let us do so without manipulating facts.

.

Um yes...its quite obvious that those are ground crew. Even the second last pic is ground crew. Did i say all pics are pilots? SA Army camo = ground/supporting/technical staff. Olive green flight suite = pilot. Why are you jumping the gun?

The two Gripen pilots standing side to side is an official pic from SAAB website regarding Lion Effort and SAAF Gripen pilots. So email SAAB and tell them that they are wrong. Pilot climbing into the Gripen is 2 Squadron Commander, and thats a pic taken from Lion Effort.
