Nigeria get many languages.. You can't compare it with China..
So you expect more concentration on our local languages than a unique language that unite the whole Nigeria

The fundamental misjudgment we've made as a country is to assume everyone is cut out for the formal education. Some of these peeps up north will do well as semi skilled artisans.
And the North needs not compete with the South by forcing their people to be educated; they should concentrate on their strength and focus on agriculture.
they should start doing it now, are they waiting for when Jesus will come

Someone has made it known that the event in kaduna is just mere saying compare to what is happening in state like zamfara, kebbi, sokoto etc.. The entire north need urgent education summit and this latest posting from sokoto led credence to such opinion

This shows that the education system in the country needs total over-haul... Imagine teachers who are to impact knowledge into students can't even express themselves in English especially on social media platform. While Nigerians are still recovering from the situation in Kaduna were many teachers were sacked after failing basic competency tests, a teacher in Sokoto state is in the limelight after "releasing a banger" on Facebook. I can bet my 30,000naira that 90 percent of nairalanders bashing these teacher will not get a hundred percent score in a primary 4 exam!! We all need to understand that the north uses hausa as their lingua franca in their daily activities and this usually makes it difficult for them to interprets communication in English unlike most of you who claim you are civilized by dumping your native languages, bearing silly foreign names and adopting everything western. I am proud of the hausa man he is proud of his origin and you know what? The westerners prefers them to you anyday any time.

Bro,u missed the point.I gez u know, that post was done deliberately to over excite the. Public.
The north got educated islamically 400 years before Western education came to Nigeria.
The north could read n write and even communicate in Arabic while you guys were still going Tru the rat holes in the South.
The white man was amazed when he saw the organized and we'll structured style of leadership in the north which made them employ indirect rule.
If Western education is your source of societal advancement, then u need to visit China,Iran, Malaysia,Japan etc.

Have u asked why Queen Elizabeth honoured Tafawa balewa n Ahnadu Bello with the SIR title?Have u asked why the queen insisted, her plain must first land in kano before Lagos, when she came to naijas for the first time?

It's a fact that the South (WESTERN naijs) is more educated than the north, but the way u described it means u are being unfair.

I believe these teachers are brilliant but they find it hard to express themselves in English language. Maybe vernacular should be adopted. No be by force to teach with English language... Most of them have good things to offer but to express themselves is the main issue.

Jeez, I can't believe this arrant myopic thinking.
You call someone who can't express himself in English brilliant? Isn't English the dominant language in Nigeria?
And you even shamelessly suggested that vernacular should be adopted.
Whoever spent money to send you anywhere close to the 4 walls of a school made a mistake and wasted his resources.
You are a monumental apology!!!

Last time I checked, we speak a lot of our native languages here down South. And most of the Northerners who are illiterate in written English are just as illiterate in written Hausa. And they bear "silly foreign names" too. Abi, you think Mohammed and Ibrahim and Yakubu etc are Hausa names?

Stop saying thrash! Are hausa people really proud of their own tribal names? Or do you want to tell us that names like Ibrahim, Aisha, Yusuf and Mohammed are native hausa names?

95% of the names Hausa people answer are Arabic names! The worst in Nigeria. So who is really proud of his heritage here?
