post=63274039]A Muslim lady was denied being called to the Nigerian bar for wearing a Hijab![quote author= post=63274039: A Muslim lady was denied being called to the Nigerian bar for wearing a Hijab! Here’s what fellow lawyer @savvy_ruqqy wrote; Good morning everyone, I want to use this medium to express my dissatisfaction with the way muslims are treated in this my profession called ‘LAW’. A sister wasn’t called to the bar because she was dressed like that (Picture above) please for God sake what is wrong with that picture? Because she was putting on a small hijab tucked into her collarette, WHY? What has Hijab done to them? Where is our freedom of Religion as stated in the constitution? We need justice…For those that don’t know, Hijab is a MANDATORY part of my religion not just a piece of clothing, so if my freedom of religion is said to have been guaranteed in section 38 of the constitution of my country that is said to be supreme and have have binding force over all as seen in section 1 of this same constitution and Section 42 of this same constitution guarantees my right to freedom from discrimination, please for God sake what is this then and before you come here attack me, please read section 38 (1) and section 1 (1) first and also go ahead to read S1 (3) of this same constitution with an unbiased mind where it is said that if any other law is inconsistent with the provisions of this constitution this constitution shall prevail…B’iko what are we now talking about? Please we want justice. We want our hijab we want #JusticeForFirdaus We want to wear our hijabs for call to bar we want to wear it in the court room. Stop the discrimination We are muslims not terrorists Hijab is Mandatory We want Justice for Firdaus http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/12/photo-muslim-lady-denied-being-called.html cc lalasticlala mynd44 u wnt ur hijab ...u n carry it na |

When I was in nursing school. A catholic sister joined us and without any struggle or stress, without writing any letter, without holding any meetings with the school management, she was allowed to be using the sister cape. But we Muslims held series of meetings, countless letters, struggles and stress before we were allowed to be using one small tucked in cape after like 20 years. You guys are just being hypocritical. Is it not high time you guys should know that hijab is part of us. You guys think it's fun insulting Muslims which it's not at all. A catholic sister uses cape, it's not a big deal, a Muslim covers herself, the whole world will start shouting. Just because some people are being sponsored politically to be killing people in the guise of religion. May God save us 2 Likes |

You have got too much emotions, man 1) She is not the only Muslim lady to be called to bar doesn't mean she is holier or that she can't fight for her right or on behalf of those who were too chicken to insist on using the hijab. 2) The wig doesn't cover the entire head and neck. Also, you don't wear the wig to the ceremony. 3) The nature of the legal profession conflicts with a number of things but not the hijab. I reasonably can't see how professionalism would be affected. I don't know any Muslim lady who would ordinarily wear the hijab or scarve encrypt: |

JamesReacher: Lateef Adegbite fought tooth and nail in aid of Boko Haram. The Sultan of Sokoto was quiet about Boko Haram. They were secretly hoping to profit from the activities of the terrorists given their stated goal of establishing an Islamic Caliphate everywhere they dig in. Truth is, Islam takes no prisoners. You either are Muslim or you are erased. That, from experience and history is the truth. 3 Likes |

Why is this so difficult to believe? When we have so many muslim ladies who are SAN, former chief justice etc. They all wear hijab. Maybe not a niqab but she should tell us the real reason she failed to be called to the bar |

Nairalanddist:Now you are the lost soul brother. In who's name did Adolf Hitler commit murder? Was there any backing from the Bible he used to back up his maniac mission? Did Stephen paddock shout "praise the lord" he while murdering people? I laugh at you when you said Jesus did not preach peace. I thought your religion said you believed in Jesus or have you forgotten already that you have to lie to defend your religion (al Taquiya) So when someone drew a cartoon of mohammed in Denmark, the west asked Muslims in kano to kill the Christians there? When the woman in kano asked a Muslim man to pray somewhere else not in front of her shop, the west asked the Muslims to cut off her head and parade it in the streets of kano? When Senator yerima married a 13 year old girl, the west also asked him to do it? The West also asked Muslims to kill Christians in the north when the US attacked Afghanistan in response to 9-11 bombing? The west also asked Muslims to behead the Pastor's wife preaching in Kubwa. A failure is one who never owns up a responsibility for his mistakes, but is rather quick to pass the blame to others. 12 Likes 1 Share |

If only I can understand which of her Right to Religion was breached as provided for by Sec 38 den i will appreciate d cause of dis unending religious argument. In my view Dis is now a Religious argument rather dan a legal argument. Are fundamental Rights absolute? Did anybody prevent her from being a Muslim? Did CLE said because she is a Muslim she cannot be a lawyer? Our Religious beliefs are personal and in a country where der are multiplicity of Religion each religion should be guided so as not to encroach on anoda. D fact dat she was prevented from wearing a hijab during call to bar does not automatically mean dat her fundamental right has been breached, Hijab is not a religion on its own but a practice in a religion. 3 Likes 1 Share |

If hijab is such a mandatory outfit for muslim women to an extent that it is won while bathing,i think the NBA should have a rethink but if not,she should stay banned for bringing religious sentiment into a professional setting. 1 Like |

Alcatraz005: The profession doesn't associate with any religious affiliation. She's not the first Muslim to be called to Bar, why is she being overly dramatic. NBA is a secular organization, she knows that already 2 Likes |

Nairalanddist:Brother are you gone? Please give your life to Christ before it's too late. If you believe in Jesus (as Al Taquiya commands you to) remember he said "I am the truth, the way and the life and no one goes to the father except through me". Don't waste your time following someone who tells you to kill others to prove your love or loyalty to him. Rather follow someone who tells you to forgive others in order for you to receive forgiveness. 5 Likes |
