Interestingly, ECOWAS was deliberating banning him from election monitoring some years back because he wanted to censor media outlets. I don't know if they eventually did.

This is no news to me sha, because OBJ was seen doing same in African countries after he left power.

OBJ messed up Nigerian image in Ghana when he was called to observe the Ghana 2012 election. OBJ congratulated the winner in the public a day before the final results was pronounced by the Electoral Commission and that incident nearly caused problems for the country. The opposition had to drag the electoral commission, sitting president and his party to Supreme Court which took almost six months to resolve. There was tensions in Ghana during the period of six months when the case was in court. African Union and Ecowas countries regretted heavily for selecting OBJ and sworn never to call him for such.
