Illiterate, how can GDP be market valuation? GDP for a country is the same as REVENUE for a company because both are made within an annual period. Market valuation on the other hand takes into consideration things such as assets and going-concern in case you want to sell the company or entity. That is why market valuation is usually partitioned into shares. Now go and value the assets of Nigeria and come and tell us Nigeria's market value. grin
So professor tell us what is Naija worth?

There is a difference between generating a revenue and profit.

The 412 billion generated by Lagos State is before expenses were deducted. Therefore would have little left over for Savings/ Foreign Reserve.

The 300 billion generated by Zenith and UBA is after expenses were deducted.
This is a clear indication that they are richer than Lagos

In the end, after Lagos deducted her expenses, how much was left for savings & investments.? None.

A State can have left over just as a company can have.

In the case of a company, it is called Profit
In the case of a State, it is called Savings/Reserve.

The Profits of those companies are far higher than the Reserves of Lagos State

That is what Kettykings and co have being trying to pass along but educated illiterates from Afonja land don't want to understand.

Japan doesnt have any mineral resouces, so why dont economists say that Naija is richer with our vast mineral resources?

You are the fool here. All the funds Naija govt makes in a year are captured in the budget.. about $25bn, this is also the amount of money Naija folks living in diaspora send to Naija. Naija govt is borrowing 60% of that to fund budget for RECEX and CAPEX!
Apple has $250b on hand, which us 10x what Naija spends.

Critical thinking doesnt reside in the realm of your encephalon. Staying on timeframe is difficult for ethno-dimwits like you. So Lagos is richer than MTN Group. Fact!! But no company is richer than Lagos/Naija? Agbero logic! So what’s Lagos worth? Folks like you want to say that Lagos/Naija cant be determined, but then come back and say that Lagos is richest city in W/Africa or that Naija is therichest country is Africa... how did you arrive at those figures??

Silly boy, you and your pidiotic brothers-who had since run away from the thread- started by listing Nigerian companies richer than Lagos and among those, you stupidly listed Mtn Nigeria and Zenith bank. After you had been taken to the cleaners, you shifted goalposts in typical OSU manner to use Apple. You are as unstable as water. I sent you an article by Forbes magazine on why it is silly and ignorant to compare companies with countries or even a city like Lagos because there is no way devised yet to ascertain the assets both financial and otherwise of nations. In your customary igbotic fashion you failed to grab that free knowledge and choose to continue embarrassing yourself. To your question, you can compare countries or cities GDP to know which is bigger. Again Lagos GDP is over $100bn while Mtn Nigeria revenue is about $3bn. FYI, both are made within a year.

Typical ethno- amped simpleton fueled by agbero logic! Same way it’s pure nonsense to say that MTN Naija is bigger than Lagos without factoring its GDP, is the same way it’s an arrogant display of unbridled and willful ignorance to say that Apple is not richer than Lagos/Naija.

The problem with most of you, is that you people aren't well informed and fail to properly inform yourselves.

There is no way, a state can be richer than a globalized company.

Why.?

Because, what makes a person or country or company rich, is it ability to produce diverse products that can be exchanged for money.

You don't expect Lagos or Nigeria to be richer than any globalized company.

That is why I believe that Nigeria should take
R & D serious so that they can develop such companies to create wealth & good jobs for Nigerians.

Unfortunately, Buhari the dullard has destroyed YOUWIN and has not set the ball rolling for R & D

Mynd44 kettykings etc take note of this fact.

Being rich is a relative and subjective phrase.

1) First thing first, you need to define what you mean by being rich.

2) You need to State the unit of measurement to truly quantify being rich and how this can be used to compare two or more entities.

If the Igbos take R & D very serious and build globalized companies out of it, each of their companies will possess more wealth and good jobs than Lagos State.

Ability to produce diverse marketable goods & services, is the key to wealth creation.

Why this fixation of Igbos with Lagos sir?

Why aren't t saying they will build wealth greater than Abuja, Johannesburg, New-York, Kano, Cotonou or Cairo?

Is Lagos State Government Revenue for a particular year mean the wealth of Lagos State?

You didn't tell us how much these companies made compare to the revenues of Anambra State (a State that host the largest market in Africa and a city with the highest number of Billionaires).
