my brother,d only advice I can give u is to go do HND,after ur HND ,u can go and do top up(conversion of HND to bsc),d top up program is weekend program, u can be working during the period of ur top up,top up program is 2 years program, #FUOYE,ali hikimoh,kwasu are doing the program

if u say u want to go and start afresh from 100 level

1:there is no 100% assurance DAT u will be offered admission
2:u said u are in mid 20s, let say it age is 24 or 25,by next year u will be 25 or26 (let add 4 years to ur age,it will be 29 or 30)

but if u are doing engineering DAT will be 30 or 31(your age at time of ur graduation)

without considering strike,if we add assu strike or any strike to it DAT will be ...( do d calculation urself too)

wish u best of luck sir

What's the duration of the conversion programme? If it's more than 2 years, then it's not worth it. Cos in 3 years she can get M.Eng. 1 year for PGD and 2 years for Masters. I'll even prefer this to any conversion programme.

d conversion is 2 years,u can visit FUOYE site,or type "FUOYE top up program" on Google ,

u said within 3 years she can have her m.eng(a year for PGD and 2 yyears for masters) u are right

but remember dat even if u av PhD(doctorate degree) with HND,let me tell u HND is HND ooo,especially in engineering field

they will tell u that

HND===TECHNOLOGIST

WHILE

BSC/BTECH/B.ENG====ENGINEER

AM CURRENTLY A STUDENT OF FEDERAL POLY ADO EKITI,AM IN HND 2

WE OFFERED A COURSE WHEN WE WERE IN HND 1,THE COURSE IS "" ENGINEER IN SOCIETY""''

IT WAS WRITTEN THERE BOLDLY THAT HND IS NOT EQUIVALENT TO BSC AT ALL

DAT IS ENGINEERING FOR U

EVEN IF THEY CANCEL D DICHOTOMY, I DONT THINK NSE(NIGERIA SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS) CAN CANCEL D DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HND AND DEGREE HOLDER(IN ENGINEERING FIELD)

THANKS MY BROTHER

You're very wrong. I also offered Engineer in the Society during my HND programme in Electrical Engineering. An HND Engineering Holder is a Technologist, while a B.Eng. Holder is an Engineer. Also, HND is not equivalent to B.Eng. Everyone knows that. But HND + PGD + M.Eng. is greater than B.Eng. That's a fact that no one, not even an Engineering professional body can dispute. I know a lot of Engineers (MNSE and COREN Certified) with this combination.

You're right. My boss a FNSE and COREN registered attended a Polytechnic after which he did his PGD/M.ENG. And he's doing extremely well.

But then, someone that would like to switch to academic needs a degree. What do you think?

different people with different experience though , currently in 400lvl civil engineering via special admission too, but save mathematics, the Polytechnic i graduated from drill me more than ABU. I graduated with 4.12 at poly ibadan, and in zaria even though i started first semester of 2018/2019 session in 8th week i made 4.09 coupled with the fact that I missed some test. Also there are dumb student every where, either poly or university. It depends on individual and the Polytechnic you went , one of my special admission mate has 2.20 has cgpa too

I think if there is no something behind it,I think he supposed to go do masters degree (though I don't know maybe he has done his PGD or not)

even if he hasn't done his PGD he can do it and av his masters degree within 3 or 4 years

everyone is talking base on what he/she knows,or what he /she heard.

No. I ran the programme concurrently with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. After which i went for M.Sc. in Business Administration. I'm no longer in the Engineering line.

pgd ain't one year again anywhere in Nigeria . Pgd is a scam my brother. Its either you get your degree or settle with reality.

It's still one year. It's not a scam, as PGD holders are considered for M.Sc. The only problem is if you refuse to further with it, it becomes useless, as employers do not regard it.

If you are from any 19 northern states, or you are yoruba with hnd upper credit. Apply special admission next year, you can contact on whatsapp for more info... Thank God for abu, i will not have forgiven myself for going to poly because of discrimination out there.
To me, i dnt believe in topup programme because the school offering it rake in money only. But abu special admission, you just devote time as you will become like student again.. Was given 300lvl civil engineering i applied and now in 400lvl, paid 32k for last session and 22k this session. I am now enjoying the experience, may be because i am young though, 23yrs thankful to starting poly early .
There are poly lecturer coming for the stuff, infact there is one with pgd and 30yrs that we were admitted together then, though taking lecture with 18 yr old kid might be frustrating

Can someone just advise me on what to do now, please?

I had 2.76 (Lower credit) in my OND and I'm expected to go back for HND anytime soon.

But then, I'm already having a rethink considering the dichotomy and all that.

I'm already in my mid 20s and is it worth starting afresh, since I can't get to find a school in the South or East that accepts lower credit for DE? Will I be mobilised for service after all?

You can always reduce your age if you want to, this is Nigeria. If you want to pursue engineering in the university push forward, worry about things you cannot change in the future not cases that you had the power to change. Good luck
