Some people sha...there are rules and regulations in every institutions created if you can't keep to them, then that place is not for you no body forces you to attend the school. These are the core values the schl is know for it should not be a case study any more, go there study hard for five or four years and leave the school you won't die obeying those rules.

I think I relate to this when I was young my mum used to forced me to night vigil of all kinds, 21 days, 7 days... and we will go to school the following morning, this made me hate night vigil. Lol i used to say with the no of night vigil I've had, ain't go no to any vigil no more.

Religion is a tool of spirituality. If it works for you, embrace it. If it does not work for you drop it like hot akara. I am done with religion. It is an absolute waste of my time and energy. Those who still find it valuable, I have no problem with them - to each his/her own.

1.Many people are sent to Christian schools to be 'cured' of their 'atheism'. Well, the truth is, when you send your child to Covenant or any other school for 'quick fix religion cure' , you are guaranteeing that the child will not only become more convinced as an atheist, but would convert others.

Once knew a Muslim who got born again. As he puts it, it was God who convinced him, not some Christian spouting arguments about faith.

2.I'm not surprised that , as HigherEd puts it, Christians are not ready to give an answer (1.Peter 3 vs 15). Most churches do not prepare young christians in this country to defend their faith. Youth programmes are always about 'how to be a good christian so that you do not disgrace mummy and daddy'..not 'how to be a prepared Christian'. At least, we now have the internet, and a wide variety of christian apologetics are online....not like before when you had to look all over for a good book on 'arguing for the faith'

Also, many Christians don't read stuff...outside the 'good Christian books'....and as a result when someone throws 'davinci code' or tells them that 'Constantine invented Christianity'...they have no answer...so they run far far away.

Same thing for evolution....no exposure to arguments against evolution (not the young creationist things, by the way), no exposure to arguments against mythis propagated about the history of science (Gallileo was punished by the church...forgetting that the scientific establishment of his day too also opposed him), and so on.

We Christians should wake up

3.Finally, having long church sermons does not a Christian school make. Having children packed off to programme after programme does not good christians make.

The point I realise this was when Living faith invited Covenant university students for one church service.

Oyedepo kept on preaching and wouldn't stop. The next thing guys started vexing o.. And where like Oyedepo should round up his message and let them go back to their hostel... Naim Oyedepo face us that day o from pulpit. Not funny day o.

Thing is many of these folks are coming from irreligious homes. Pele Pele ni gbogbo nkan o. The school needs to focus on outreach rather than coercion.

Not necessarily irreligious homes. The Church teacges what they never practice (Love). Only tithe n seed sowing. They force it down ur throat n even threaten u. An averafe Christian can't defend his faith, so they easily fall off. I basically learned A LOT about Christianity n God outside the church.

You make it sound like an occult system where the details of the covenant are concealed until you enter into it. Covenant University doesn't do that, instead they lay down the rules plainly for you and it is up to you to abide by them if you signed up for them at admission time.
Many folks come from irreligious home where they aren't user to the harsh discipline that goes with serving God acceptably. On the other hand, Oyedepo himself has put his own children through tougher religious discipline and expect the students to cope with lesser ones he lays down.

It can only be in Naija. Some people will come here to say, if you can not keep to their rules and regulations, leave the school. Most of these guys regretting being sent to that school never choose the school but their parents made the choice. A school should be a school, a bible collage should be a bible collage.

Same way many others where forced into cultism and a shrine should be a shrine while a school should be a school.
If you ask me, I prefer a system that lays down the rule openly to you than one that forces you into a dark world.
