You already said there country is in shambles because of sanctions imposed by America earlier. Hence, they didn't bring their own economy to the ground all by themselves.

America can dish such crippling sanctions because the rest of the other successful nations like France and Germany mainly Europe supports those sanctions.

If those countries are forced to start reconsidering American influence, Russia would be happy and world order will start changing significantly.
