I thought you mentioned your statistics expertise some posts back? Where in the World are children considered as part of the work force? Dude, unem[plyment rate is for adults only, it doesn't take into account things like child marriages, the 10 million almajiri's etc.

Dude, what I'm saying is that its economically impossible to have an unemployment rate of 4.9% and have 10 million child beggars. IT doesn't make sense in the least bit. Who came up with that statistic you proffered? They must think every Nigerian is ignorant because you must be to believe that utter rubbish. 10 million in a country of 150 million roam the streets and beg, how on earth can you believe that for heavens sake??
It is simply impossible that 10 million children are beggars or hawkers in Nigeria. Its not true!! If one in every 3 or 4 northern children was a beggar, do you realize you cant make a single turn anywhere in the north without seeing a beggar, it means that of every 3 children you see at any given time, approximately one has a bowl and is begging, that is a blithering lie. Furthermore, it is simply impossible.

There is no way the ND will not be open to providing finance to develop other areas. I've said this over and over, whenever the battle for resource is won, all sides would need to agree funding and development modalities for the development of uranium mining, gold mining, coal mining, education etc. In return, after an agreed weaning off period, other areas will begin paying a pre-agreed compensation to the ND, perhaps in mining shares or monetery payments. You will be shocked at how quickly Nigeria will industrialise under such an arrangement.

The problem is the environmental impact of solid mineral mining. Some of those northern States are actually richer than the oil producing states. That is the reason why I continue to advocate for true federalism.

Labor force:

47.33 million (2009 est.)
country comparison to the world: 12
Labor force - by occupation:

agriculture: 70%
industry: 10%
services: 20% (1999 est.)
Unemployment rate:

4.9% (2007 est.)
country comparison to the world: 45

The CIA FACTBOOK puts Nigeria's current unemployment rate at 4.9% Note that 41% of the population is supposedly under the age of 12 so dont let that 43 million labor force get you shouting. 30% unemployment rate, do you think this is zimbabwe?? if its 30%, we might as well not have an economy! Im convinced at this point that Im discussing with semi-literates.

When last did you visit Kano? There are 2 million almajiri's in Kano alone by official figures.

The environmental impact will not be at the levels witnessed in the ND, especially as each state will be mining their resources themselves. It will give most Nigerians a deep understanding of the human rights issues in the ND.

That has always been my point. If true federalism is practised, they will no longer have option than to explore their resources.

Krendo & Gadogado

Attitudes like yours will guarantee the breakup of the country you claim to love.

If you can't bring yourselves to admit that a terrible wrong has been perpetrated and continues to be perpetuated against the indomitable people of the Niger Delta then the future of the entity called Nigeria is bleak.

The saddest part is that your taliban views are representative of a significant part of our society, not withstanding this, we will triumph in the end.

How long till Nigeria breaks up? These low-life northerners need to just be on their own.
