Serial presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has been trending on Twitter for choosing to keep quiet concerning the young man who was accused of committing blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed in a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March 2020.

According to Nigerian Tweeps, the serial presidential aspirant who is considered vocal and known to air his concerns on policies and issues plaguing the nation has been quiet ever since the news broke that Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, the young man fingered for blasphemy, has been denied access to lawyers even as the 30-day deadline given to him to appeal the judgment lapses on September 9.

Atiku who took to Twitter to celebrate Arsenal's win against Liverpool has since been dragged for being insensitive, a religious fanatic like and political. The likes of Peter Obi and other presidential aspirants are currently being dragged alongside.

There's no influential Muslim living, especially from the North that will speak against this.

As much as we feel this is an extreme use and abuse of power, the young man involved should also have respected people's beliefs.
If you don't believe in Mohammed, why not look the other way and respect other people?

He is most likely going to be killed, and nothing would happen, because this is Nigeria

Is it the same Peter Obi that is yet to comment on the Igbos vs. Dss clash that recently took place in Enugu that you are expecting to talk about this? Una go wait tire. Both Peter and Atiku are hypocrites.

Atiku is torn between the devil and the deep blue sea. The devil here is the North... Speaking against the injustice will demarket him greatly and might turn the people against him for insulting their prophet while on the other hand is the deep blue sea, the Southern part of Nigeria who expects him to stick to his idea of politics of inclusion, and nationalism as he paints himself to be. Not speaking up would mean he is a religious fanatic and supports the move - to have the young man condemned to death.

In reality, Atiku is all out for himself as with others who seek the exalted position. Buhari is bigoted and so is El Rufai and Ganduje and these three don't hide it. I would even understand if Atiku's social media handles do not post any contents this period but sending out a tribute to Chadwick Boseman and congratulating Arsenal, all within the period of the news filtering is insensitive, cruel and paints Atiku as one who is out for what he stands to get. One can't be everywhere at the same time and one can't be hot or cold. Sitting on the fence in the face of a sensitive issue shows what is in storeif he gets there; the same goes for the others as well.

We really need to look inward and come to terms with the fact that no politician is worth bleeding for. To them, it's all about what they stand to gain.

Its obvious this man can't also fight boko haram, they'll always pamper their brothers and encourage them to keep shedding the blood of innocents.
Let Muhammad/God fight for himself if you really believe they're supreme and powerful

LMAO grin grin grin

Truth is, Peter Obi is a light weight in the East and delving into Enugu matters might destroy him. Plus, taking sides could put his political ambition in jeopardy. It could prevent him from defecting tomorrow, if need be and speaking against the IPOB will demarket him. This should tell you no politician is worth dying for. They are all after what they can get and make for themselves and not for the people they intend to lead.

Just imagine that. Yet his fanboys on Nairaland would have us think he's the best thing since sliced bread when he's just an empty suit. Smh.

I'm not even concerned about Atiku but the different political parties. PDP as the lead opposition has never commented on any policy or law that affects the masses. From ruga to Cama to sharia, no party comments on it, yet they advocate to be better.
APC will also go mute on such when they return to opposition.
Everyone Na hypocrite

Let's forget about Kano for a minute brah since Kano is not their constituency. Why hasn't Peter Obi commented on the Ipob vs. Dss matter?? I recall how igbos/Igbos always come here to drag and blackmail Tinubu and Osinbajo for not 'speaking' whenever any thing happens in the SW. Na una turn to tell us why una messiah Peter Obi is conspicuously silent concerning what happened to Igbos in Enugu. What is good for Tinubu/Osinbajo is also good for ibo leaders.

I personally don't trust Peter Obi. He is skilled in the art of telling lies and he does so with a straight face. His type of person can pass as a motivational speaker and might even succeed in convincing you that he built his poultry from scratch with a feather and not chicks.

I will gladly choose Kingsley Moghalu over Peter Obi, any time, any day.

I didn't see anybody mentioning Peter obi.

However, for those flaying Obi for not speaking against IPOB clash with DSS, yes, if I were Okwute, I will not even utter one word. The albino of afara believes it's convenient for him to destroy people's reputation, because he has a microphone and some dunderheads who are ready to listen to him. But when he faces difficulties, he will remember that he is Igbo and will run to seek help from the same people he has often castigated. No, not so fast!

Ndiara IPOB will open their gutter filled mouths to insult even their fathers on FB and RB, most times they don't even mind that those people they insult are their Igbo brothers, but when they are killed, alas, they remember they are Igbos and therefore demand empathy and solidarity. NO! It doesn't work that way. Ndiara IPOB must be thought some lessons.

Now the horse has bolted out the stable!!

The jury is already out and if Atiku comes out at this stage to make a statement, be it FOR or AGAINST the ruling, it would still reflect badly on him given that he knew all along this was happening yet thought he could sit it out only to make a statement after being dragged.

Even Deji is shaking tables. Wonder if he's out of his ICU and back in the country yet.

This one's a real spoiler.

Can people stop being st.pid for a moment?

Is atiku your président ? Vice président ? Senate président ? Does he hold any leadership position? Same as OBI?

Why not question the LEADERS...your president, vice president, senate president and minister of justice who HAVE THE POWER TO FORCE A CHANGE.

HAS ANY OF THEM SPOKEN ABOUT the sentencing yet?

Nigerians need to stop being unfortunate and actually THINK, before calling people out.

He isn't going to be killed. It won't happen in a democracy. You can bet on that.

The political backlash would be too much to bear, from outside and within the country.

Atiku doesn't need to be the president to speak on issues like this. Joe Bidden, with all his buts still have millions of Americans who expect him to react to some of Trump's statements, policies or claims. It doesn't mean Bidden is the president neither does it imply the people don't know who is in charge. It only means they look up to him and expects to start acting responsibly. Atiku is a known critic of whatever Buhari's regime does, so it is only normal for people to ask him to speak up.

Atiku is coming back in 2023, most likely under the PDP, if he needs votes, he must appeal to both sides and do a good job while at it.

The bastards will kill him. Recall this isn't the first case this year... The Nigerian legal system is very slow but super swift when the government wants to make unfavourable decisions.

Ganduje is hitching to sing his death warrant already and he will do that. The backlash will heighten and then die across the world, except there is a huge sanction on Nigerian by the UK, the US and possibly China, which I am praying for.

They think it is okay to kill because a prophet or a god is insulted. This should tell them about their religion but it won't. We have heard several cases of people arrested and killed for either tearing the Quran and even throwing it out the window during invigilation in the same North. The young man will be executed and life will move on.

Noise-making. Where is Tinubu that claimed One Nigeria is a scam in 1997 and changed his Ewedu-guzzling odor-stenching maggot-infested mouth when he started looting bullion vans from Lagos State government?

Wetin concern Peter Obi who is Catholic from Anambra State with Islam matter? How many times have you seen Peter Obi in Kano state?

Is Tinubu not a practicing Muslim and APC leader who also campaigned for Gandunje?

Tinubu open your brown tooth and talk before dollar will chook you for throat cheesy

They all should rather volunteer and appeal the judgement before it elapsed as required by law.
