The case you cited is that of murder by a MOB and not one sanctioned and executed by the STATE.

I don't think any execution on crime of blasphemy has been carried out by the state since the return of democracy.
Murder by a MOB is counted as unofficial. It's just what might be done if they can't have him killed for fear of international outburst. They will release him back into his community for the fanatics to take care of him.

There's no influential Muslim living, especially from the North that will speak against this.

As much as we feel this is an extreme use and abuse of power, the young man involved should also have respected people's beliefs.
If you don't believe in Mohammed, why not look the other way and respect other people?

He is most likely going to be killed, and nothing would happen, because this is Nigeria

Serial presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has been trending on Twitter for choosing to keep quiet concerning the young man who was accused of committing blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed in a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March 2020.

According to Nigerian Tweeps, the serial presidential aspirant who is considered vocal and known to air his concerns on policies and issues plaguing the nation has been quiet ever since the news broke that Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, the young man fingered for blasphemy, has been denied access to lawyers even as the 30-day deadline given to him to appeal the judgment lapses on September 9.

Atiku who took to Twitter to celebrate Arsenal's win against Liverpool has since been dragged for being insensitive, a religious fanatic like and political. The likes of Peter Obi and other presidential aspirants are currently being dragged alongside.

Who expected Atiku or any northern Moslem to condemn use of Islamic Sharia criminal justice system in Nigeria?

The difference between northern Moslems and Boko Haram is like the difference between six and a half dozen.

Northern 12 states adopted Unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal justice system since 1999.

Boko Haram quickly emerged and says it’s fighting for a country to be governed with Islamic Sharia criminal justice system.

No leading northern Moslems had condemned the adoption of sharia criminal justice system.

Good evening, I wonder why you choose to be selective in your comment, is Atiku and Obi the only politicians in Nigeria? What about our president (who is the chief security officer of the entire country)and the VP, what about Amaechi, El Rufai, Ango Adulahi, Kwankwaso etc. why is it only Atiku and Obi?

Truth is, Peter Obi is a light weight in the East and delving into Enugu matters might destroy him. Plus, taking sides could put his political ambition in jeopardy. It could prevent him from defecting tomorrow, if need be and speaking against the IPOB will demarket him. This should tell you no politician is worth dying for. They are all after what they can get and make for themselves and not for the people they intend to lead.

A whole Peter Obi is a light weight? Oga it seems Gabriel Jesus is your best striker

Must you always show your stupidity!

Meanwhile all these are just misplaced priorities! Those calling out Buhari, Tinubu, Atiku and co Should know they're not Judges.
They all should rather volunteer and appeal the judgement before it elapsed as required by law.

Don't mind the mumu comment. The man was tried by a court of competent jurisdiction under an existing law. What do they want Atiku or tinubu to say. Criticize the court or what?

The only person who can stop the killing of the musician under Islamic Sharia criminal laws is PMB.

But PMB vowed in 2001 before a large gathering of Moslems in Kaduna that he would not stop until Islamic Sharia criminal justice system is used all over Nigeria.

PMB appointed a Chief Justice for Nigeria who pronounced that Islamic Sharia Criminal Justice System be included in Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.

Do you expect PMB to renege on his promise to Moslems?

I revel much in theories and would like to believe the number work for official killings. Unofficially, I strongly believe the number is around 20-30 deaths annually, with only a few being reported.

Below is the case of the invigilator that was killed for seizing a Quran and throwing it outside a window: https://www.csw.org.uk/2007/06/05/press/637/article.htm

Thank God I made the right decision never to teach those barbarians that call themselves students in the north. They should go get barbarians like themselves to teach them

Why not question the LEADERS...your president, vice president, senate president and minister of justice who HAVE THE POWER TO FORCE A CHANGE.

HAS ANY OF THEM SPOKEN ABOUT the sentencing yet?

Nigerians need to stop being unfortunate and actually THINK, before calling people out.
Ignore the hypocrites.
What would Peter Obi's opinion change?
So you ppl can accuse him of being islamophobic?
Buhari, Osunbade, Thiefnuubu are all top members of the ruining party, these are the people whose opinion or actions can make a difference on this matter.

Na una turn to tell us why una messiah Peter Obi is conspicuously silent concerning what happened to Igbos in Enugu. What is good for Tinubu/Osinbajo is also good for ibo leaders.

Oga, it won't happen. No one is executing anyone on account of blasphemy. It wouldn't be the first time he reneged on a promise he made would it?

Do I get the feeling some of you are praying he gets killed just so you can lash out at Buhari or what?

"A so-called opposition party that keeps outsourcing its role to activists shouldn't be taken seriously.

When the contentious CAMA was passed, where were PDP lawmakers? NASS is planning to pass anti-social media bill, what are opposition caucuses in both Houses doing to stop it?

President Buhari has been borrowing money recklessly, what has members of the opposition done about it? A serious opposition can truncate government policies in parliament, even though it is in the minority. There are ways of doing this, including filibustering, walk out, etc.

No opposition party is more useless than PDP. Actually, PDP is not an opposition party. It is just a group of people who are waiting for another opportunity to resume looting at the federal level. You accuse Ganduje of playing politics of religion, how about the Zamfara governor?
A party that lost a national election should have made spirited efforts to win the sympathy of the people. But their members and supporters are busy insulting people for voting Buhari instead of their candidates which they consider to be lesser evils. Is that how to win election?

Since 2015, what has the PDP as a political party done differently from the APC in States under their control? Which PDP governor has complied with FOI requests? Which PDP controlled State has organized credible local government elections? What are they doing differently?

The corruption of the APC does not justify the rotteness of the PDP. Both parties are one and the same. The way they decamp so easily and exchange candidates buttresses this fact. They don't hate the stealing in Aso Rock, they hate the fact that they're not the ones stealing."
