pinkup15: State business as "SOLE TRADER" unregistered which VO understands and sponsor as husband with his bank account. |

pinkup15: 1. DS160 for male and female differs in terms of the questions asked. 2. From reading transcripts on here , they will not ask for tax returns from the business, they can ask her the nature of the business. For b1/b2 visa they don't rely on documents to show proof of ties. |

Hello folks, i wish to know if it is a red flag to self sponsor one's trip for a conference in USA,i wish to attend a conference which i came across when i was researching online,i have saved enough to cover my trip, because i have been wishing to visit America for tourism purpose for a while as well... I don't want to lie in my application,if not can do without mentioning the conference on my DS 160 form and just state i am going for tourism only. But i want to be honest as possible. Just want to know if i will be shooting myself on the leg if i mention i will be sponsoring the trip.I have paid for the conference already and with what i have been reading online, one's company must be the one sponsoring the trip if it is conference related...I am an engineer. |

[quote author=mrkhaynoni post=37325722]@ imperialebony I corrected the error on the ds160 by filling another for, getting a new confirmation no with barcode. I then mailed a scanned copy of my new form, a scanned copy of my old confirmation page, a scanned copy of my appointment barcode page, and a scanned copy of my passport data page to support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com. And I explained what happened in a brief note and also outline the fact that I want them to reconcile my new confirmation code with my old appointment form. I then followed it up by calling the CGI customer care no 014406218 It took like a week with repeated calls. I hope this helps![/this is quite helpful. Many thanks! ] |

focusBB: Self-sponsoring for a conference isn't a red flag. Failing to include that information though could definitely prompt some greater scrutiny during the interview, and that shouldn't be the first time we are hearing about the conference. |

Hello guys, I have been a silent reader in the travel section not only on this thread. You guys are doing a great job here kudos! I got an invite for my cousin's wedding in May and I booked an appointment in June for today.I was at the US embassy in Lagos for my interview and am so grateful to God and you guys that I was granted the VISA. I did not use an agent, have never traveled out of Nigeria before,my take home salary is just 100k and am single. From my experience today, I think all you need at the US embassy is your confidence, the VO did not asked me for any document not even the wedding invitation. My interview was for 8am thou I got there 5 mins after cos of the traffic. Here is my transcript: Me: With my charming smile I said Hello, good morning VO: Good morning, please let me have your passport Me: I gave it to him with my data page VO: where are you going in the Us? Me: .......in Georgia for my Cousin's wedding VO: types on his system VO: Please your finger prints Me: I did that VO: You are going for whose wedding? Me: My cousin's VO: Have you ever traveled out of the country? Me: with a smile I said "No, its gonna be my first time" VO: Where do you work? Me: I work as ....... in ......company note I earn 100k which I stated in my form but I didnt mention that to him, am sure he must have seen it on his system cos he kept on typing and looking at his system VO: How long have you been working with this firm? Me: one and half yrs VO: How many weeks are you staying in the US Me: 3 weeks VO: Are you married? Me: with a smile I told him am single but engaged (I had an engagement ring on my fourth finger) VO: kept on typing and then said I have approved your visa, please pick up your passport on Monday. I am so happy, thank you all. 8 Likes |

mimik2: A good example that if you have very strong ties to home, and present yourself as honest. Even a first timer can be given a visa. Honesty wins every time. 2 Likes |

Hello house. I have a B1/B2 visa. I've been to US 4 times. However, I want to go for a 3 months course. Does a 3 months course qualify for student F1 visa or I can go on my visiting visa. Thanks. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by NanaF: 10:58am On Aug 27, 2015 |
kcheerful: Found this online. The B-1/B-2 visa may be used by for foreign visitors to take a short, recreational course of study during a visit to the U.S. If you are traveling to the U.S. primarily for tourism, but want to take a short course of study that is recreational and the course is less than 18 hours per week, you may be able to do so using a B-1 or B-2 visa. Examples of short courses study include cooking classes, language classes and art classes . If your course of study is 18 hours or more a week and is not for recreational purposes , you will need to apply for an F-1 visa. You can send them an email so you're absolutely certain which visa category your course falls into. If it's not recreational, i think you'll need to apply for an F-1 Visa. 1 Like 1 Share |
