egoldman,

In the first place, why did you start this thread? To have everybody tow your line and
start screaming racism?

So no one has the right to disagree with you or what?

Do you think Osuofia has any
good rep abroad? I was so ashamed to read comments about his song in a New York
paper last year. he has a bad rep and his appearance anywhere in a whiteman country
will attract some attentions. Get that straight man.

You can scream racism to heavens and your noise won't move any ant.

Let us get our acts right and people will be able to treat us right. cool

Thanks a million!!!! "egoldman" pretended to be "reasonable, helpless and defenseless" in the beginning.  I guess it did not take long for his true nature to unfold--------to join the band wagon of "insulters".  It only took less than a page of this thread to start spewing insults!!!!  Why the pretence in the first place Could have saved us a lot of time.

@ babeelove,

I think everyone has a basic right to choose which environment is better for his or her family!!! I am sure we all love Nigeria regardless of what we say about it. Sometimes when we express ourselves--we get emotional and the message is often lost!

Listen!!! And Listen good!!! Or should I say read and read good!!! I am not Militia that you chose to disrespect at every turn in your life because you have nothing better to do with your time. I never called your reasoning "stupid" and you better watch what you are writing to fellow people like you on this thread. I really could not care less if you started the thread.

All I am saying is that do not address me and use the same word "stupid" in the same sentence. You need to learn some manners ok?Huh You also need to respect other peoples' views because the whole world has never revolved around you and never will. That is Militia's opinion and just like yours I have no problem with it. DO NOT USE INSULTIVE WORDS ON OTHERS!!!!! We can comment on each others' write-ups amicably without all this frustration. If you do not like it then ----------- step!!!!

Yup!!! That is why you are you and I am me!!!!! We can have different opinions and not a wrong or right situation----It is a matter of choice. Do not have to agree with you and you do not have to agree with me!

you still sound stupid anyway, so you can now go jump the lake .

grin hahaha, long read, funny nonetheless. karma has an interesting way of balancing things out. it's the repercussion that ensued from running his mouth. I believe he brought the whole incident upon himself with that widely publicized nonsense of a song which brought international detriment to his and Nigeria's image, defamed his global marketability, but also increased his stock among most of Nigeria's populace.

After calling a jack a jack let's call a spade a spade, there's a tad bit of racism and unfairness involved as well.

You have a point there , not like the ones who tell us that the dutch police are right with their action and cos our black arse we should not ask for our rights .

Na wah for you oh!!! LOL grin grin grin grin grin  Now we are going to enjoy this comic thread!!!!  You have even imagined the whole event in you own mind.   You know Osuofia has thin thin mosquito legs in the first place?  You can imagine him pulling his trousers up and jetting across the street with his "boy alinco" cap and hands under his armpits shivering. Looking at the whole show from across the street!!!!  Next time he will shut his mouth!!!!

Can you imagine approaching a police man in Europe or America--to explain some "long tin" when they did not ask you  In this day and age  When you get a traffic ticket you cannot even come out of your car---- then this comedian wants to ask Dutchie policeman-----BIA!!! WHAT IS GOING ON HIA---according to my dear friend Esss!!!!! What a big mistake!!!!

REAL MAIN PERFORMER OF "I GO CHOP YA DOLLAR" MUSIC VIDEO!!!!--with the world wide notoriety of glorifying or castigating "419" depending on who is doing the interpreting.  You call Oyinbo man "mugu" for your video and think you will be welcome anywhere in Oyinboland in this world!!!  What a joker!!!!! grin  No brains!!!!!

You know for sure he will do an "OSUOFIA IN NETHERLANDS"  That is going to be a huge laff!!!  I can't wait to see that one.   My poor Maleke!!!!!  Boy I love that guy!!!!   These guys are crazy clowns!!!!  And that Basket Mouth-----Bright Okorocha!!!!  What a bunch of jokers!!!! In fact, I cannot wait for all versions from Osuofia, Maleke and Basket Mouth!!! All are going to be hilarious!!!!!

You think you are impressing us with so called laugh , its actually insulting the very country where you came from rather shamelessly , the day you see your mama ophra then let her know that you are a Nigerian , you will see if she treats you any different from her long held view about Nigerians , then u would understand that the policy of generalization is very bad .

When the police in Europe come to a crowded place its Alarm stufe 1.
When they tell everyone to back up against the wall every one should back up be you white black or yellow, They even handle white teenagers like that if they do not obey at once.
They do not want any unrest to break out so they will uproot it.
That your friend made a big fat mistake trying to play his "do you know who i am out.
How is the police to even know a diplomat is there . Back on the wall and wait for your turn to show your papers.

we are not talking about ophra here , but i used that reference cos u been posting about both thread and other places about nuttin but insults and shame on the very country that gave birth to you , consider if had been born in north Korea or Cuba , if u would have the opportunity to even go to ur American heaven in the first place .
no one is saying that Nigeria don't have problem , but trying to rub it in is another thing altogether and don't expect that when u do that , we would shout amen for you .
if a police storm a show like that , they have to explain them selves , thats how its done in a civilized nation , for osuofia to tell the police that he is performing there and if there is any problem is not in anyway, if a cop come to ur house would you not ask them why they have come ? a decent police will always tell you so , police introducing themselves , it is a normal thing everywhere .
now when u say this is not serious topic , plz try as much as possible not to insult the very country that gave birth to you , cos doing that would surely attract serious response , if you feel so hopeless about Nigeria , must you come on the forum here and say it ? why not keep it to urself, yeah we have problem in Nigeria , ur posts have never in anyway helped to solve any of our problem , rather it is to rub it in and tell us how fortunate u are cos u went to America and how unfortunate the rest of us that are still in Niger .This is unacceptable and if u keep to it , u will surely see strong response to it .

There is money in this country so I don't understand why we keep going to insult ourselves in Europe. Our police people should learn from this example and carry out constant raids on night clubs especially those frequented by those "oyibo" and collect as much as possible from there. Its a pity the kidnappers here in Port Harcourt are already helping themselves.
Re: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by Jakumo(m): 6:38am On Jul 29, 2007
OtoKx, anyone who tries to start a campaign of harassment of expat oil workers in their Port Harcourt watering holes will probably wind up in jail so fast it will make their head spin, assuming they are not first dispatched in a fusillade laid down by mobile police escorts. Very bad idea.
Re: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by egoldman(m): 9:39am On Jul 29, 2007
Dutch police were wrong with what they did at that show , which ever way you look at it , they are wrong , its 100% racism .

It has happened in Germany too i think it was with Tony one (?) i have forgotten his name .
The police raided the place.
You and i know they will never be able to "catch so many flies " with one blow.
The police know that a hall will never be filled with legal allans.
The wong they did was in going there at all.
But the way they handled the situation was in the norm

But the way they handled the situation was in the norm

and below is what u called the norm ?

I came down from the stage and told the officer that I was the main performer and if there was a problem we could talk about; I was shoved violently to the corner and ordered to leave the hall to the other side of the street.

The actor who addressed the press in company of his legal adviser said he had no objection with police trying to do their duties such as finding a criminal, but "I believe they should go about it in a dignified manner without trampling on the rights of others. My papers were in perfect order, same for Maleke who I contracted for the show. But the way and manner The Netherlands police went about the whole charade that day smacked of racism. The were so unfriendly, they were pushing and shoving people, including a diplomat from Zambia who came for the show.

From across the street, the actor watched as Nigerians and others of African descent, about 500, were being frisked and sniffed at by giant police dogs, and were later loaded in trucks and driven away to various detention centres.

Osoufia became convinced it was a racist attack when "they started letting go the whites among the crowd. A woman who is from The Netherlands challenged them but she was just ignored and asked to just go. She was really mad from the way she was speaking."
This time she was not shoved around though even challenged them , tell me what makes her different from osuofia who was shoved around because he asked what the problem was .the norm my arse .

I could not speak the language and I just must find Maleke because I took him to Amsterdam. It was later in the afternoon that he managed to get a telephone and called my number. He described his location and told us he was simply taken on a ride and abandoned in the middle of nowhere.
now what was makele's crime ? well someone have said the way the cops handled the whole thing was normal .

It was after television stations started condemning the action of the police that they started releasing some of the detained people.
even the dutch press saw the racism in it while a Nigerian is here telling us that this the normal thing , God will help us .

so mamaput when u say that what the police did there was the norm , i would suggest that you read the story very well .

Okay they are wrong!!! What can we do to remedy the situation What can we do to prevent this from happening again Getting Upset eternally will not help the situation. What can we do to stop us from getting embarrassed outside Nigeria. We cannot do much about "racists" cops when visiting other countries, but we can work from our own ends to prevent things like this. So egoldman---what do you suggest
Re: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by egoldman(m): 12:56pm On Jul 29, 2007

Re: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by mamaput(f): 1:04pm On Jul 29, 2007
1) Nigerians and Nigerians alone are responsible for the bad reputation they have given the whole world.Bringing the doges makes things go faster, They use of doges have always been there not only for the black man
2) that they let they white people go had to do with the fact of what brought them there. And that was to get people without papers. If thy had like 500 supsects then they obviously had a space problem and did not need to take the whites.

now what was makele's crime ?

I do not know did he not stand in line to show his papers?

By the way is that not how they always act?

Have you ever watched Maleke in performance Look, all this is just about making a mountain out of a mole hill. I repeat,-------- when we Nigerians are out of Nigeria,we act like we are in Nigeria and think everything is the same.  No!!!!!  You need to examine the environment you are in and behave accordingly.  How many times do we arrest foreigners in Nigeria

Once again egoldman, you failed to answer the question.  What do you mean by being a "better" Nigerian  What specific advice will you give Nigerians to prevent things like this from re-occurring?  Our consulate, if any, can address the "Dutchie" Police on the diplomatic level.  We know that this is your thread, but you need not prolong it longer that necessary if you have no concrete solutions to the problem.  We have read consistently about your frustrations of the events. Okay!!!!  Can we please move past that? cool  Solutions please!!!!!

egoldman:

If i would decide to be a better Nigerian and you do same also , then i think that would be a good start , we all know where we are coming short of expectation .

Respect authority when you are out of Nigeria even if you do not respect the one in Nigeria.   We need to learn to "obey" simple instructions without trying to offer explanations for things we were not asked.   Obey first and then complain later!!!  You cannot be asked to "move to one side of the stage" and you "decide to come down the stairs" to explain that you are the "MAIN PERFOMER" !!!  No one asked you.

You are a guest so do not abuse your host's hospitality by being uncoperative---if you want the host to be gracious to you.  The host has the upperhand in this case since you are not a Micheal Jackson or Akron who will bring a lot of money to Netherlands with your "MAIN PERFORMERS". So we should learn to obey simple instructions so we do not seem unruly and combative.  This is a pure case of miscommunication not "racism"!!!!  Both sides contributed to the escalation of the events---PERIOD!!!

These police that came are a special troop trained for demonstrations and riots.
I will agree with you that they should not have come in the first place but when they did come they acted in the norm. The same way they would handle football hooligans or even white teenagers gone amok.
One of my kids walked into something like that not too long ago and fled into a bar to wait for it to be all over,
They arrested a lot of kids for just talking took alot of vidios to get more and sized all handys.
They police had ask everyone to go home but some die hards still had to open their mouth.
One boy wanted to go and look b4 he knew were he was he recived a blow on the head with a stick(batton),
They had the whole programm dogs vidios magaphones hand cuffs and whatever

Okay then!!! egoldman---Is this racism  There is nothing that "scatters" these Oyinbo police them heads than when they tell you "no" you say "yes"!!!  They already believe we are "animals" from Africa---So why give them the chance to "humiliate" you more.  They will just capture you on their home videos and use you for their personal entertainment in their living rooms on "how they caught an African monkey"  I say do not even give them the slightest satisfaction.  They have the guns and all what not so what are you going to prove  The fact that someone calls me an animal does not mean I have to answer to that name. Not only do we answer to the name we are called by these Oyinbo peeps, we prove beyond any reasonable doubt that we are indeed animals by trying to "prove' whatever by disobeying simple instructions!!!

As much as I like to argue--one thing I will never do is to "argue" with an American police man.  You never know where you are going to end up.--Like my family has money to come and bail me out of "Guantanamo Bay" I am charged with "terrorism"? You guys are not serious!!!  American passport or not.  My arse is black and with a "funny" accent.  What will I tell my children So please there is a place and time for everything.  Look at the environment you are in and then act accordingly.  It is called "EXPOSURE" and USE OF "COMMON SENSE"!!!!

Many Nigerians leave their home country with an exaggerated and delusional sense of self-importance that arises from the "Do you know who I am ?" mentality that is so prevalent in their homeland.

This ailment is generally cured when they ask a white cop if he/she knows who they are, and the Nigerian traveler is then afforded the opportunity to spend some time in cuffs and custody, which, it turns out, is one of the more effective ways for a totally unknown skinny or pot-bellied African to learn his TRUE place in Western society.

I believe this educational process is known as an "attitude adjustment", and it generally triggers a profound change in world-view for all graduating students. Nothing like a good old-fashioned reality check to cure the grandiose pomposity of a "free born" Nigerian black man once and for all.

@ paw-paw.
Stop complaining for once in my life? Where the heck did you get that from? Everybody wants Nigeria to be a great country, at least then the Nigerians in diaspora and everyone else talking trash about my country would shut the heck up. However, because I live in Nigeria doesnt mean I should be confined here for the rest of my life. I might have business or leisure issues to attend to abroad but it doesnt mean I should be treated like rubbish because "I refused to remain in my country".
Believe me, it took a lot of courage not to insult you with a post like the one you made earlier but. . . . . am a big girl! grin

Oh! I am not a Nigerian because I say the obvious facts abi Sorry, I am not given to cheap sentiments where Nigerian is concerned. egoldman,

I am still wondering what you want to achieve o. If you want to campaign against
"racism" against Nigerians, this may not be the right place to do that. Why don't
you go to the Dutch land and start your campaign there?

Raining insults on those who disagree with you won't solve your problem Sir. cool

When you are in Rome, you are supposed to behave like Romans, so if Osuofia behaved
as if he is in Nigeria in another man's land, what do you think he should get? He deserved
to be told he is worth nothing over there.

So please, stop extending this thread for nothing sake. We all know you have racism at
