Surely you are confused because the last soldier ever drafted in the US was inducted in June of 1973. There have not been a draft in the US Military since.

We all know that US president is one of the most protected world leaders on earth, he travels to wherever he wants with armed security guards from US marines, FBI agents among other special forces.

US air force uses C-17 transport plane to carry the presidential limousine called the beast with several other vehicles to where he's going ahead of his arrival.

The Beast has 8-inch armor plating and five-inch thick bulletproof windows, and Kevlar reinforcement for the giant Goodyear tires that are also run-flat. That you see only Secret Service following him around doesn't mean soldiers are not close by.

The reason is America has a handful of enemies so in countries without adequate security he has to be well protected but in friendly countries with good security he travels with fewer security detail. The President does not lodge at foreign embassies and the Marines do not guard the environment where the President lays his head. Secret Service Agents form a multi-layered perimeter around the President from the time he takes the oath until the day he dies. While other agencies shoot to stop a threat, Secret Service Agents shoot to kill.

Marines never have and never will be assigned that duty.

He is talking about traveling and you are talking about protecting.

Again when traveling especially abroad, the Potus also travels with host of soldiers not only men of Secret Service.

Secret Service are providing bodies to take bullets for the Potus but protecting him lies on much more people than those men on suits you see there.

Because he is democratically elected Potus, the constitution mandates the Secret Service to bodily protect him but that doesn't stop military men from being in his entourage.
