For those looking to come here. I'll suggest you apply to a school in German where it is much cheaper. Learn German as you study and apply for a job in Switzerland (they have the highest salary in Europe i think). Studying in Switzerland is not cheap, neither is the cost of living. It's almost 3times the cost in Germany. Also, the German is Swiss German, plus they rarely entertain English since they have 4 official languages.

If u don't know what to say u shut up ur mouth

Why are u misleading people to Germany while u even know they can't even get a common appointment.

Many unis in Swizz don't charge tuition and wages are very high too. I will advise you to only say what u know. I got admission in swiss and by god grace I will be there and my tuition is just 790CH per semester. Thank you

I have been to Germany several times from here (Switzerland) and go there whenever I want from here. I hope to see you when you come to Switzerland. Hopefully, you won't complain as you did about Cyprus.

Please can you clarify this talk of 21kCHF?
Do I need to pay the money into the school's account before getting a visa or do I just need to show the money in a Bank Statement? Is there something else I need to know before applying to Switzerland? Maybe schools with no application fee and cheap Tuition (less than 1000chf)

Thanks

For Switzerland there is no uni without application fee but tuitions are free and once u are about paying enrollment fee the application fee u already paid will be minused for u. U don't need blocked acct. Have the money equivalency in naira in ur Nigeria bank acct.

Hello, I just got admitted to a school in Geneva. I’ll like to know about the housing system. Is there a website that enables one search for accommodation.

sorry for the late response. I got an admission to EU BUSINESS SCHOOL a private school in Geneva. It's pretty straight forward. i just emailed the school office and I got a detailed guideline the next day. Sent over my required docs, and an interview was scheduled and my admission came through.

The school also assist in visa preparations and follow up.

Though I am still waiting for my visa due to the summer holidays in Geneva but I'm hopeful.

I will suggest u start looking for an place to stay asap as it's a long process. You can contact your school they will give you websites that will favour you around the school vicinity

Well, firstly I must admit that I am not a specialist in Swiss affair as my knowledge of Switzerland in terms of employment, residency e.t.c. is only limited to the Canton of Zurich.

Having said that, engineering is a field that is "almost exclusively" non-Swiss because majority of the Swiss natives prefer banking, economics, law and the likes; hence, the chances of a foreigner excelling in engineering are pretty high. However, the stringent labour laws in Switzerland make it "almost possible" for a non-EU citizens to get a job. for instance, for your work permit application to be granted, the following conditions must be met.
(1) you must be a specialist (which in the labour bulletin handbook is defined as someone who holds PhD and above and/or with a 'considerable' experience in the field. note that the word "considerable" is equally subjective and they pegged it at 10-12 years for sciences and engineering) and/or
(2) the employer applying for the work permit must proof beyond doubt that a) no Swiss citizen is qualified enough for the job and b)no EU citizen is suitable for the job. the essence of that clause is that on the food chain, as an African, you are at the very bottom as priority is given to Swiss natives, the EU citizen, Swiss labour and trade partners (e.g. US, Canada) and lastly core foreigners.

There are more Africans in Geneva and other french speaking part of Switzerland, perhaps the labour laws are a little bit relaxed there I don't know for sure.

As per the expensive nature of Switzerland, I think it's kinda natural because if you are working, you also earn big (the minimum hourly wage is CHF 25 which is approximately NGN 5000) so you'll survive I'm sure.

I know the aforementioned stuffs sound discouraging but it is possible. It's an advantage if you have someone close (like family or close relatives) here already. There is this Naija guy I know, he has a brother here who invited him over for a visit, after the expiration of his stay, the guy refused to go back ( you know the Naija way na..LOL). To cut a long a story short the guy is now married to a Swiss with a kid. I wouldn't advice that because you'll be living everyday of your life in fear of getting caught but hey people do it and I'm just laying the cards on the table. Whatever choice you make, you'll be the one to live the consequences.

good luck with your plans

Please is it possible to bring in foodstuffs from Nigeria? Thank you

This thread is too slow and almost dead.
There are hardly any responses.

Perhaps we should consider a telegram account.

I am in a telegram group for incumbent, graduates and aspiring students for Germany, and discussions and information are flowing very freely. you'd ask a question and get at least five different responses to it a couple of hours.
