CBN Donates N100m To Kano Govt For Boko Haram Victims by BlackPikiN(m): 6:36am On Feb 11, 2012 |
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has donated N100 million to the Kano State Government for onward delivery to victims of the recent Boko-Haram bomb attacks in the state. CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, presented the N100 million cheque to the Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, during his condolence visit to the Kano Government House yesterday. Sanusi explained that the donation is part of its contribution to assist the state government to alleviate the suffering of direct victims of the violence and their families. “We are here to commiserate with the government and people of the state on the recent violent incident that claimed the lives and properties of victims and present the contribution of the bank to the state. “The incident, from all indications, has deeply shocked the country and the world at large. Our pray is that Almighty Allah will grant those who lost their lives mercy and comfort their families” he said. Responding, Ganduje expressed appreciation to the management of the apex bank for the gesture, pointing out that it would go a long way in assisting the victims. He said the incident had greatly affected the state in many respects, adding that “the state government requires the support of patriotic Nigerians to bring comfort to those affected”. “On behalf of his Excellency, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the good people of the state, we wish to thank you for this contribution which is a demonstration of the bank`s concern over what has happened. “It is very unfortunate that the incident has resulted in the lost of lives and property. Since the attacks, our administration has been doing everything possible to assist the victims. “The donation from your bank would definitely go a long way in this regard. We are indeed happy that normalcy is gradually returning to the state. “As you are aware, Governor Kwankwaso has constituted a committee of elders to advise him on how to tackle the current security challenges confronting the state as well as the nation. “In order to enhance the security of lives and property throughout the state, the government has resolved to initiate a Security Trust Fund through which donations would be solicited for the purpose of security management”, Ganduje stated. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/36436-cbn-donates-n100m-to-boko-haram-victims-in-kano.html |

BlackPikiN: I am still trying to figure out what exactly transpired, So many questions begging for answers; Is the CBN supposed to be engaged in activities as this? Is it part of the ACT establishing the CBN? How come this is the first time such donations is being made? Is it coincidental that the governor of CBN is from Kano hence the 100M jumbo pay? This Sanusi Guy just doesn't have the wherewithal to lead an institution that is supposed be objective. He is beginning to think that the Central Bank is his father's palace, smh, People should please take him up on this. We should allow it be swept under the carpet |

Of course I am not surprised. That egocentric man is just acting true to his type. I cannot recollect CBN having a history of philanthropy. He is from Kano, a Kano prince and heir to the throne. What is the definition of nepotism? |

This news can't be correct. What powers does the CBN havee to do such? Once again I will assume thee info is wrong! If it isn't then we probably need to be enlightened to ascertain if the CBN has such powers. Never head of such anyway, maybe they meant to say CBN disbursed the funds on behalf of FGN. |

I had always thought this man had common sense, never knew he is realy true to his type. God when there was bomb blast in the church he didnt even sent a condolence message. Another ethnic bigot & religious fanatic. Thank God for the Kano attack, now my muslim friends who felt that Boko Haram can't harm them, @least know better. I believe he could make a personal donation & not for him to use CBN funds to favour his state or any state for that matter, owing to tribal/religious considerations. That was how Bornu State Government gave #100m to the Boko Haram family, simply because one of them was killed "unjustly" |

BlackPikiN: This is the argument some fools put forward : Amnesty to milliant = Amnesty to Boko Haram. Making illegal , Legal ! SLS,Has the highest order of Nepotism flowing in his blood . Chief Hypocrite, he claimed to be an activist we all know he is only deceiving people, we saw how he played the game with fuel subsidy . A bloody POLITICIAN, I understood he justified the killing of innocent people by Boko Haram, on the level of poverty in the North !. If this news is true this guy is only preparing for the next Kano State Governorship position using his position to Leverage(loot) on empathic opportunity. I bet he may be the next governor in Kano State . |

All of you guys screaming here have the perfect opportunity to take the man down, why not institute a suit against him, if you are not in Nigeria you can always chip in with some foreign currency, I am sure if the courts find this illegal not only will he be made to pay the money back but he will be forced to resign, what are you guys waiting for, GO FOR IT. |
