CBN Corporate Communications Director: While we can categorically defer to the validity of emotions that will generate such a pertinent line of questioning as regards the portentous situation heralded by this landmark albeit unfortunate incident. However, might i remind my esteemed accusers that a sui generis personality as myself cannot be expected to toe the line of an eunuch even though the life of a randy playboy incapable of self-control vis-a-vis the situation at hand is going too far and thus i aver to my sanity and complete self-restraint at all times! Wat is so difficult in sayin im sorry? Sanusi's boys. Instead u come up wit som childish defence. Apologiz to the prof befo he disgraz u and ur boss in d law court. Rememba, he may not be a hungry or a mushroom prof. Eventhou it's in Sanusi's nature not to say im sorry even when he misleads d whole country wit his prophecies and policies of doom.

Is SLS the one making the clarification or the CBN? So if he is eventually sued (don't know if he is sued already) the CBN will pick the bill abi? Who is the one accused of plagiarism here. Is it the CBN or SLS?

The CBN governor should be responsible for his actions. His defence is funny. He should learn to acknowledge other writers work.

That's what you get when mediocres without requisite capacity to competently discharge their duties are made the head. Sanusi's boys are bunch of misfit who should stick their tails between their legs rather than shamelessly try to defend their mindless act of stealing from another. What's there to hold on to when people that are suposed to live above board throws caution to the air without recourse to morality? I tire for this our people o.

6 different instances of plagiarizing the statements of one academic are no joke. I wonder who else Sanusi's staff stole from for Sanusi's lectures.

No be human being de make name? at least if he makes name with his own intellectual property its better than this level of irresponsibility exhibited sanusi.

it is sheer irresponsibility and gross leadership failure for a leader to publicly shift blames to his junior staff. so if a man like sanusi becomes nigeria president tomorow, he will come out to tell nigerians that his failed policies were drafted by one of is ministers,

NO doubt he is gradually killing our banking industry

oladayo042: I'm sure Sanusi read about it. I know the court will tread with caution because this line of defence (if accepted) can set a bad precedent - I can steal someone's work, receive the accolades for delivering the paper, and claim it was written by my gatekeeper (whenever litigation arises).

I laugh when i read about stuffs like this. I guess Sanusi and his Plagiarist crew don't know how serious their offence is. For even acknowledging that they committed the offence alone will make the case an easy one. This people should know that ignorance is not an excuse in the court of law. Somebody like Sanusi, a phd holder should know better. The whole game plan of trying to put the blame on CBN is nice strategy to exonerate SLS of the blame is a nice one but might not be enough to avoid the heavy compensation Sanusi ☀̤̣̈̇f the CBN will pay. Trust Naija guys na. If you have the opportunity of suing any top nigeria govt official who admitted to committing the offence, what would you do ?

Tony Tone: CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA
PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been drawn to reports in the media regarding a suit against the Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, by one Victor E. Dike, who is said to be a professor of Engineering and Technology, National University Sacramento, USA.

It is important to provide some clarifications on the matter. First, as at the time of release of this statement, no court papers in respect of the said suit, had been served on the Governor.

Furthermore, and for the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi did NOT WRITE the said paper. Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, just like Chief Executive Officers of similar institutions in Nigeria and abroad, deliver papers, not in their personal capacities, but on behalf of the institutions for which they are chief spokespersons. In the case of the CBN, such papers, even though presented by the Governor, represent our collective views and are prepared by professional researchers in the relevant departments of the Bank. We can vouch that such papers are prepared in line with strict global and ethical standards.

As a responsible public institution, we always cooperate fully with court officers and our well trained and responsible security officers

Ugochukwu A. Okoroafor
Director, Corporate Communications
Central Bank of Nigeria

its getting hotter....who should we believe now....Naija I HAIL THEE!!!!!

*** N.B. This response does not in any way indicate that a speech-writer ( CBN Staff) wrote the paper for Mr. Sanusi to present. It means that CBN agreed that Mr. Sanusi is NOT the author! > A researcher writes a paper (author). Please read in context and don't just literally use the word "write".

In a nutshell, the Corporate Comm. director (CBN) agreed that Sanusi presented a technical paper without reference. I wish he did it in an advanced country.
Re: CBN Response To Sanusi Plagiarism Allegation by JahMan1: 8:35am On Apr 27, 2012
I already said it in another thread b4 they gave this lame excuse.

https://www.nairaland.com/jah%20man/posts
Jah Man: You guys should realize that Sanusi and most other so called 'technocrats' hardly author any write-up.
He has one of his SAs from the US(son of former deputy guvnor in CBN).
That guy must hv done 'google it' and prepared the speech for SLS and got some accolades as a very brilliant staff.
SLS must hv been very proud to be reading a write-up of someone that did internship in JP Morgan and in his CV the abokis turned it to a rewarding career in JP Morgan.
Now SLS has got his fingers burnt.

Lesson for him and his SA.

Re: CBN Response To Sanusi Plagiarism Allegation by freecitizn: 4:07pm On Apr 27, 2012
I really expect him to take responsibility and set records straight. He should also render an apology if found culpable. If he's as intelligent and cerebral as he claims, he shouldn't hide behind faceless 'professional researchers' who have most likely copied copiously. Was it the CBN as an organization that was invited to deliver the lecture?
