BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES “WAR AGAINST INDISCIPLINE”

Nigeria's military government is stepping-up its campaign against corruption, mismanagement and indiscipline at all levels in Nigeria society.

Preliminary hearings into corruption and abuse of office against former politicians and civil administrators have already begun and on March 21 the government launched its war against indiscipline.

One of the first areas under attack is Illegal Street trading in the capital Lagos. The military government of Major-General Buhari has promulgated a decree forbidding the street trading, a major source of income for many thousands of Lagos people. Police have already begun arresting street vendors and confiscating their wares.

The campaign is also designed to foster greater personal and social discipline with Nigerians being urged to queue for buses in an orderly fashion. The crackdown on indiscipline was announced by Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon, a member of the Nigerian Supreme Military Council.

BRIGADIER TUNDE IDIAGBON: "I want you to bear in mind the need to emphasise self-discipline and leadership by good example.
Begin by drawing public attention to little but important everyday manifestations of indiscipline such as rushing into buses, driving on the wrong side of the road, littering the streets, parks and dwelling compounds, cheating, taking undue advantage of scarcity to inflate prices for quick monetary gains, constituting ourselves into public nuisances, walking without commitment and devoting little or no time to the upbringing of our children.

Up to this moment there has been no formal declaration of war against indiscipline, it is my pleasure therefore to declare today a launching day for the war against indiscipline."

The Buhari administration identified indiscipline as the bane of the nation's ills and therefore decided to fight it in all its ramifications. Hence the pre-occupation of the regime was the launching of the different phases of the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) which has become a household word in may Nigerian homes. There were five phases of WAI, namely:-

a. Queuing (March 20, 1984)

b. Work Ethics (May 1, 1984)

c. Nationalism and Patriotism (August 21, 1984)

d. Anti-Corruption and Economic Sabotage (May 14, 1985)

e. Environmental Sanitation (July 29, 1985).

many of my friends hated all these schemes till they travelled.
one was arrested for not using seat belt. 45GBP fine
one was caught urinating in a corner after some drinks 50GDP fine
one was caught drink drive. first offence fined, second offence fine and lost points on license, third offence license was revoked.

the schemes were supposed to be a way of live if adhered to would be our habit.

I agree, in fact in the UK you would feel unsafe if you do nor wear seat belt as it becomes second nature after a while and everybody queues patiently and orderly you could find queues for anything including concerts and nightclubs stretching hundreds of metres long.

How do you know offenders were beaten?

Even if they were beaten so what? surely they knew the consequences of breaking the law .

Like i wrote earlier, ayathollah buhari's solution to every problem is brute force.

He grew up with malus and to get malus to do anything, you beat the living daylight out of the mothaxxxxx.

Even now the man still spew violent rhetorics whenever he's confronted with a problem.

No, we are not malus to be beaten to conform. if he wants to rule anyone, let him go and rule his people up north.

we do not need an ignorant, inarticulate blood-thirsty bully like him, down south.

I rest in the knowlegde that he will never smell aso rock.

Not true JJ Rawling executed corrupt politicians.

Perhaps if Buhari had done the same instead of handing out lengthy prison sentences, we would not be in the situation we find ourselves today.

A general concept of a reasonable man and mind is that such mind or person would change based on new hypothesis.
Apostle Paul in the bible too hated xtians to the extent that he was haunting them around to ba jailed. he was present when stephen was stoned to death.
But a moment of realisation and truthfulness of issues were dawn, he became a better xtian than other apostles. He worked and spread the gospel with vigour.

whan a just man speaks the truth, hearers tends to act on it.
so jesus told the people jerusalem would be destroyed, he was attacked, he further told them that was minor even this temple where you worship would be destroyed. years later they all came to past.
so jesus' statement destroyed jerusalem? NO its the saying of a just man.

if you are a lawless person then you'll consider his regime a brute.
the number one rule of any dveloping nation is orderliness, then other things could follow.
simply obey the rules.

Like the example you gave earlier, people obey the rules in the UK, but the govt. didn't

have to treat their citizens like bloody malus to reorient their minds. Abi, the UK is not developed?

Don't you get it? WE ARE NOT MALUS! Buhari didn't have to brutalise and humiliate us to make us see why we should keep out

environments, clean. Education is the key-word here, but then how much education did the ayathollah received apart from the

one on how to bully his opponents into doing his wish?

Geez! wth are trying to say? How can one say something when they have nothing to say? What about when they do have something to say? Actually, buhari said no one should say anything bad about his govt even if what they say is the absolute TRUTH. And this is the kind of man you all are now trying to foist on us again, in a democratic setting? Oh well, you and your ilk can shout as much as you like, the cold reality is that this blood thirsty, religious bigot and nincoompop to boot, will never get the chance to bully and humiliate us again. In his last outing, the mofo treated us like animals! Buhari is the sole reason we are in this mess today. He truncated a democracy that was going thru the normal teething problems and took us back to military rule that was the problem from the beginning. The only reason was that he wanted to institute sharia. He had no single plan for Nigeria for the 20months he ruled. I was in school then so i can remember very well. Unlike some of you kids come and post here, we know who he was and still is. War against indiscipling is not planning for a country. When we were kids, Nigeria was not as corrupt as it is today. The combination of Buhari, IBB and Abacha established corruption. Buhari never took any one to court and jailed any one for corruption. He only arrested those he didnt like. Ambrose Alli was jailed and he later fell ill and died but till today, no proof of corruption has been brought against him. His family has no loot from corruption. Yet some of you come here to say Buhari fought corruption. Buhari only wanted to implement a Northern agenda. That is, to dominate Nigeria and eastblish sharia rule. He was a corrupt man right from his spell as petroleum minister under OBJ's first regime and when he was PTF chairman. As minister of Petroleum, he presided over one of the worst looting of Nigeria then. As PTF chairman, He mismanaged over 100billion naira (in the 90s, you know what that is worth) and till date, there is no single project in the whole of southern Nigeria you can point to and say it was built with PTF money. All you see Buhari supporters say is that he did a lot of projects, but they cannot point to any such project.

I pity the few southerners that allow this bigot to confused and deceive them into believing he cares for them. What did Buhari do for Niger Delta? What did he even do for his fellow Northerners? Did he build any school? Hospital? Industry? Please tell me or forever shut up and stop praise singing the fool.

You are an id1ot if you think you can take up a user name like yours and come here to deceive people. You and your boko haram mentality. If the foolish Buhari had not truncated our democracy, would we not have stabilised by now? But the greedy fool wanted to be a life president. Tell me what was his road map back to democracy or you think we are kids here? Nonsense. You are the one that needs to show us evidence of what he did with PTF money because there are none. In the whole of Niger Delta, i cant find any. In the whole of south west and south east, i cant find any. There is not one school in the north that we can point to. No hospital, no industry. Only lies from you folks. The bigot didnt even care to campaign in the southeast and south south and he claims the election was rigged. Was he expecting people that dont know him to vote for him? Was he expecting people he didnt care about to vote for him? Does he think we see him as someone born to rule? He is nothing and means nothing to us. You fools think you can bully the rest of us, but i feel sorry for you because this is 2012. This is not 1960.
