HELP S.O.S- My Wife's New Job by snthesis(m): 8:35am On Jun 29, 2012 |
Hi everyone. i need some serious advice urgently, my wife is a nurse she just got an offer for a new job, the salary for one month is enough to pay our houserent for the year. I am also working, but money from her side would improve our lifestyles- dats why i encouraged her not to resign. the problem is my wife is super hot and i rushed into marrying cos i didnt want anyone to have her- i guard her seriously, but this new job is giving me nightmares -couldnt sleep throughout the night. she's still waiting for my approval, should i let her go or not? p.s she got a job to work as a nurse on an offshore platform- 3weeks on, one week off. and i've heard so much about those Hot engineers(and they also have lots of money to splash around), imagine my sweet angel alone with all those men. |

This story sounds like tales. However, only a fooolish man will allow his wife work offshore for 3weeks in a mnth. Prepare to lose her. It's a silly idea and money isn't everything. 2 Likes |

OP, as a nurse offshore, her career will go down the pit because there is less activities for offshore medics. Because of the safrty measures in place, They sit there with their computers waiting for wks to go by....she is pretty, i tell you there is a lot of temptation. The money is great but also consider the risk in case fire emergency on board the platform etc.. Let her look for job else where she will be closer home and also improve her career. I currently work offshore but will resign by august cos i will be getting married to my fiance and need time for my family. Money is not everything. My dear, that PLACE is not an ideal place for ladies especially married women. Trust me, talking out of experience. 7 Likes |

I don't normally give out advices, but @OP, you'll be a blonde he-goat not to let her go. Like chaircover said, she could meet another guy anywhere, but this job will enable you save money. Oh who am I kidding, you're just an insecure 10-year-old afraid to lend out his toy for fear of it liking his friend more. Like me. 3 Likes |

Several issues arise here. 1. Seems your marriage is still young and you guys should try spend more time together now as you will have less time when the kids come so a job that takes her away three weeks out of four may not be most appropriate. 2. Do you plan to start a family soon? If yes is your answer, then she may soon have to leave that job because she cant continue the job with kids. Not sure if you already have kids 3. I have worked briefly on platforms and I can tell you the guys there will try and hit on your wife. This is not about "toasting" like chaircover said, but they will try and do more. Its an all guys affair over there and some of them are rude and reckless, you may be exposing your wife to all sorts and yes they have lots more money than you! 4. Examine your current financial situation. If you make enough money, then there is no need for your wife to take that job but well I am not in your shoes so you know best. Goodluck 3 Likes |

I will disapprove of the new job.....the idea of my wife staying out of the house 3 weeks in a month is enough to say NO! 1 Like |

snthesis: Hi everyone. Seriously i sympathise with you. Secondly i admire your wife who has also sought for your counsel/approval before acepting such an offer. Thirdly, as you said, she is very atractive, i would advice you to think deeply and prayerfully, before deciding because its not Just Yes or NO answer. Fourthly, if i should choose, look for alternative job, and ask for her opinion, remeber money isnot everything. |

snthesis, I have not been posting regularly since; but I am posting to advice you because you are my friend in my old online kitchen. I run an offshore unit and I am currently offshore as I type this. It takes 2 to tango but even if your wife is a nun; believe me, offshore life will turn her otherwise. Money will be good; but that career for a married woman is not ideal. Life offshore is entirely different from life onshore. She might be principled on her first hitch but I tell you, she will be broken down if she continues on the job. I cannot count up to 4% of offshore staff I can stand in for when it comes to fidelity. See your options: - Allow her to go offshore for 21-7 rotation; money is good but bear in mind you might not be the only one performing your marital responsibilities - Allow her to go for one hitch and pay for your house rent; as that seems to be your wahala now - Do not allow her to go offshore and save your marriage in the long run; If I am in your shoes, she WILL NOT go offshore. There are several other good jobs onshore (she just has to be patient and focused). This life is only lived once and marriage is meant to be enjoyed with your partner of choice till death do you part. No experimenting in marriage. 9 Likes |

@ poster, working offshore as a nurse ,is a wow job but however i will advise that you do not allow her,i work offshore myself and i know the challenges, i mean we see it daily happens and there is almost noting you can do about it,about the swt engineers flaunting the cash, seeing them doing the work daily just ignite the system of almost every females. i know the feelings i get when i discuss my job routine with my wife and few times we get to see a platform on tv either documentary or otherwise. The money is great but also consider the risk in case fire emergency on board the platform etc.. Let her look for job else where she will be closer home I know alot of male colleagues who has worked here before and resign before they get married just to concentrate on families. My brother, that PLACE is not an ideal place for females o. Trust me, from all experience am speaking. 1 Like |

Nashville: Several issues arise here. You said the guys will not try to hit on his wife? Yes, the environment doesnt permit that, but there are other ways some men go about that. Remember, she is a nurse, so she will have her privacy unlike other female engineers working there and sleeping in same 2 to 8 men room, Now, that aside.. Leaving your man and family for 3 wks and staying for 1 wk is a crazy rotation. IMO, OP, you are on your own! |

Oh who am I kidding, you're just an insecure 10-year-old afraid to lend out his toy for fear of it liking his friend more. Like me. I disagree. Life is not all about money and this may not really be only trust but what your wife goes thru. She might be the only female on the platform for 3 weeks with about 20 guys and some guys are rude. They will try all sorts and some may harrass her and there is very little she can do because even the bosses are part of it. Three weeks every month alone with all these guys for how long. Lets be real, she will spend much more time with her colleagues than her husband and trust me these guys do anything to touch a hot babe. I wouldnt expose my wife like that because of money. Money is not life and for this guy he really cannot handle it. I cant go home sleeping every night knowing my wife is constantly trying to rebuff another guy. |

Even if she works on land 24-7, she would cheat on you if she wants to and you'd massage her back when she comes back! 1 Like 1 Share |

@Nashville: Uh huh. And what if, in hiding the lady, his neighbour wakes up one morning and goes like "hey, this filly is pretty dayum hawt! Dunno why I haven't tapped that arse! Niggga's gonna get me some of that!" Then he'd lose the woman, and a year's worth of savings. I'm just a realist. |

snthesis: Hi everyone. If the job is an offshore and she works on a platform i assure you that you don't have any thing to fear, you wife is secure as there is no room for what you are thinking off. But its left to your wife not to go and visit them during her time off. You are save if its a platform i assure you. If she was employ directly by the E&P, she might be going for a lot of training before/after being deploy to the location, so becareful not to interprete that to runs. 1 Like |

She currently has a job where she comes home everyday to be with her husband. The proposed job doesn't and the environment on platforms are very different. As per your example of your neighbour, that is completely unrealistic. Only a mad neighbour will say that and I will just bring out my gun and blow is hand off! |
