I would say d grace of God and the fear of poverty has been the driving force to succeed as an entreprenuer. It's not been an easy journey cos there are times I would almost give up but thank God for my partner that has always bin supportive.I have a clothing line and also into branding too. |

omodada1: I graduated wit 2.2 frm Lautech, URP. I was encouraged τ̅☺ work wit Town planning but wen i got τ̅☺ der office, the̶̲̥̅̊ topmost 'Oga' uses a tokunbo car. I asked if i wanted М̣̣̥̇̊Ɣ future τ̅☺ be likwise having served the̶̲̥̅̊ Govt. Fø̲я̅ abt 2decades. Its ₪☺ of cos. So i took up М̣̣̥̇̊Ɣ passion of grafix and video works, did professional traing in animation, video compositing and special effects. I grew τ̅☺ helping direct Nollywood actors on set, crew wit a Reality T.V show, done jobs Fø̲я̅ many and yet counting by His grace. I run М̣̣̥̇̊Ɣ Studio where i Train students and the̶̲̥̅̊ least of М̣̣̥̇̊Ɣ course is 70k per student. I tell u dis is more dan Salary. Morso, wen u work Fø̲я̅ Govt. And retire, u yet want τ̅☺ go τ̅☺ biz, wit weak skills and physical strent. Why not get U̶̲̥̅̊я̲̅ passion turned into wealth while the̶̲̥̅̊ strength is available. I d spent money on interviews but τ̅☺ ₪☺ avail, stop waisting tim. Buy books and read, talk wit mentors, dream of U̶̲̥̅̊я̲̅ passion, overcom fear, be determined, explore U̶̲̥̅̊я̲̅ brain and above all, inquire from the̶̲̥̅̊ Lord. Its not a bad step if u want τ̅☺ be trained by us...video editing, video effects, compositing, modelin and animation, production and post production. U could have combined both your passion and the government job. If you really want to enjoy the best of both world (being employed and an entrepreneur) I will advice you go for government job in any ministry or parastatal. I work for the govt. but I earn and live way above my salary grade. After reading Kiyosaki's books, I understood the meaning of earning a living from different quadrant. You can be a successful employee as well as a successful business owner. All that is required is to have an open mind to learn new things. 2 Likes |

These stories are encouraging. Well,I just started my business after I realized I couldn't continue living from hand to mouth all my life. I'm a medical doctor, but I realized I couldn't keep up with life in Abuja on my salary alone. I also don't want to do private practice, cos I want to do something other than medicine. I've started and failed in a few businesses in the past, but presently, because of my yawning needs,I've decided that I can't afford to fail again. So help me God. 1 Like |

You have a very extremely marketable skill, look for a "gingered" person to partner with to do marketing while you focus on manufacturing, then a strict no credit policy should take care of your fears. |

I am glad my thread was one of the first you visited you can click on my profile to view many more interesting threads as well. To your question. NEVER EVER MIX BUSINESS AND PLEASURE. i.e; DON'T HIRE WHO YOU CANT FIRE. The best of entrepreneurs are the most displined, rugged, and fearless set of people. Have it at the back of your mind that if you have to get rich in life you have to always stand your ground as you will never satisfy everyone in this world no matter hownice you are. So why dont you just being yourself. As for your friends, i am sorry to inform you that you need to keep seeing them to discuss you entrepreneur plans or ways of financial freedom. Afterall a mechanic can seek medical or legal advice from a fellow mechanic. He has to go meet with a doctor and lawyer. What i am trying to tell you that your set of friends are only giving you advice from how clearly they see things. Chck out their financial status of achievements in life, only then will you decide if they are worth emulating and capable of giving advice. 1 Like |

Just thought I should say something about my current biz. I'm into network marketing. I chose this line because great men have endorsed it as a means of quitting the rat race. Agreed,it's not easy to do,and I've failed in the past, but I've read a lot about it,and it's a business that can become easy if you have the right training and motivation. Also,start-up cost is low compared to other businesses. And if you have a few leaders in you downline, with time, you can actually go to sleep and still smile to your bank. You have to learn to train people to do people to do the business in such a way that they can get good results. This is the information age,and all this information is available on the internet. So,basically, you train yourself to train others. You can get more information if you follow the link in my signature. |

brownlord: Can anyone help with the kind of bizness one can start up as graduate, wit atkeast 1m, please risk free Dear brown Lord, the question you have just asked can only be answered by you. You see if you want to suceed in your business, you have to be involved in it so therefore you have to enjoy doing whatever it is you venture into. There is hardly any practice that isn't profitable. So take some time to study ur environment, identify your opportunities, weigh your strength and weaknesses and start making decisions. 1m is cool to start up something meaningful. In case u still need some guidelines, food and transport are inevitible so you could identify opportunities in these areas. Wish you Good luck. |

[quote author=bigx]Me first!! I was doing my IT years back when I met someone I wanted to get married to then (yes I'm impulsive like that), it didn't work out finally but she encouraged me a lot and I registered my first ever company a week after the IT ended. I never enjoyed the job, I felt the staff where cheating the boss playing zuma & chatting on facebook on company time, I am not good at eye service and ego-massaging/ rankadede-ism so seeing people around me do it for little favours just pissed me dude u are great |

I like this thread and I will share my own story I told my father that I love to do transport biz when I was in yr 2 in the university and told me its good. Started phone call and recharge card sales dufing my yr 4 IT as a mech eng undergrduate 2004/05,saved 200k from it in 10mths gave the money to my uncle to buy me a bus to start campus shuttle 2005/06 but he spent my hard earned cash.I was left with nothing. I continued with the phone calls after graduating but returns was not as the starting time I tried to divesify into some other things so I set up a piggery and it was doing fine until I left for NYSC 2006 and I employed someone to take care of the farm but it collapse in couple of months. After NYSC I set up a cbercafe with 4 computer and a starcoms phone and I was making money small small. I got a job with an engineering firm and employed someone to be in charge but the biz collapse after like 3mths.ok everything is finished. i gave the phone call centre to my younger sister to use and make her own life while I start a new life with my new job in Portharcourt. Portharcourt is not easy to stay if you are not with a good job, my job was earning me 47k in 2008 and I was wondering why I came to PHC but I determined to stay and make it in PHC so I discovered a fertile biz which was the transport biz I`ve loved to do as they stoped motor bik in PHC 2009 so Iran arround and borrowed money from everybody and I bought my first car for taxi biz march 2009 it then made a return which I was able to buy secon and the third in the same year and more till date. I`ve been able to put food on plenty peoples table. I am married and have a child am in my early 30 and i just bought my own personal car last month. Lesson: Start from somewhere, do biz you can monitor, be focused 2 Likes |

Wonderful thread, I love people that have the courage and boldness to become self employed. I am going to become solo soon. I would like to go into production of vegetable oil, so I am going to learn welding fabrication. Would soon drop the MSc, bsc, ties and suit for a factory overall. |
