Any tips for a smooth journey??

1. Hit the Lagos Ibadan expressway as early as possible.

2. Prepare to pass the night in Madalla anything after 8pm. There are military outstations along the expressway from Jere but I don't know how effective they patrol after 6pm.

Goodluck and safe journey.

The Federal Government has announced the landing of the 2Africa Submarine Cable in Qua Iboe, Akwa Ibom.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, ‘Bosun Tijani, said the cable landed in the South-South state on Tuesday.

“This is a significant milestone that has been delivered with the support of President Bola Tinubu, whose directive to all relevant agencies to support the ease of approvals was critical to the successful landing of this cable in Akwa Ibom, a first for the Niger Delta region,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

As a matter of fact. I think this song was more of a cryptic revelation or vision of what eventually happened to the Plantashun Boyz group.

Omodo meta - Faze, 2Faze & Blackfaze...

🤔🤔🤔

Wrong. Listen to Tony Tetuila lyrics carefully.

"Omode meta" refers to the disbanded Remedies group.

Eddy Montana - Singer
Eedris Abdulkareem - Rapper
Tony Tetuila - Dancer/Backup vocals

The song was released after The Remedies breakup and way after the Plantashun Boiz had released their debut album, Body and Soul.

This is an unfortunate situation relating to a pending title.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and delay. The pressure I put on Copart is sustained and once the title is ready, the vehicle will be shipped.

US Customs won't approve a vehicle for export without the title.

The OP has the right to air his grievances and in fact an obligation based on the time passed. I'm doing all I can to get the title from Copart.

Communication is zero if the message is not delivered to the receiver in the format he/she can understand.

Tone down the big big grammar in your correspondence with the OP.

Well done.

KakakiAutos gave this as an explanation for the delayed shipping, which like I said was understandable, at least for the first three months.

Five months in, it became plausible for me, made worse by his nonchalant attitude.

If you notice the screenshot, the vehicle was initially sold and returned back to the auction pool.

The pending title is the likely cause of delay.

Politics / Re: Competition: The BUA Group, Akwa Ibom Refinery Is expected To Kick Off In 2024 by aieromon(m): 6:17pm On Feb 18
The land battle continues.....

The Ekid Peoples Union, EPU, in Akwa Ibom State, comprising Eket and Esit Eket, has called on BUA Petrochemical Refinery Limited to meet with stakeholders of the host communities to address nagging issues before commencement of operations.

Addressing a press conference in Eket on Saturday, the President-General of EPU, Dr Samuel Udonsak, said although the Akwa Ibom State Government was aware of the entrance of the company, it was also expedient for the company to meet with the land owners for proper discussions and agreement.

He said although Ekid people are not allergic to development, it was an affront for their forest reserve to be taken from them by the state government without following due process, saying the people would take every necessary step to stop them even as they have taken the case to court.

According to him, “the manner our land was taken was wrong and oppressive. We would have gotten the compensation if the acquisition was for overriding public interest and for the development of the community.

“In the first place the acquisition is not for overriding interest. Government and BUA have to do the needful, they need to sit with the owners of the land and do the needful. What happens to our flora and fauna?” He queried.

Also speaking, the Secretary-General of EPU, Barr Dan Abia, admitted that the state government had earlier attempted to give them compensation for their land taken, noting that that is not what Ekid people want.

He said all they were asking for was for the state government to follow the prescriptions of the law for land acquisition and for them to sit on a dialogue table with the investing company to spell out their terms and conditions especially on the preservations of their flora and fauna.

Abia lamented over what he described as “lots of illegal acquisition in the Stubb Creeks of their forest reserves” noting that Ekid union will no longer allow such to continue under the guise that all lands belong to the government.

He observed that the Akwa Ibom State Government had flouted its ordinance by giving out a forest reserve to a company to build a permanent structure.

His words, “That place is a forest reserve established by ordinance and you have no right to put up a permanent structure, only rights of fishing, tapping palm wine, even the government has violated the law it put in place.

“We have a lot of illegal acquisition going on the stubb creeks of the forest reserves. Sometimes I hear people say government land, there is nothing like government land; rather lands are vested on the governor and there is a process of acquisition. Government can only acquire land for one purpose according to section 44 of the Constitution and section 22 of the Land Use Act which is for overriding public interest.

“It is wrong for the government to acquire public land, convert it to private land and give it to a private individual. That’s not for overriding public interest. How can a private company (BUA) come into a community without sitting down with the owners of the land?

“We sat down one day and received a memo from the state government that they will pay compensation to us, compensation for what? The prescription of the law is that you give us notice of your intention to acquire and state the purpose of the acquisition and that purpose has to be overriding, then upon acquisition you give us another notice of acquisition by gazetting, thirdly you pay adequate and prompt compensation, fourthly, you allow us access to the court if we disagree with the first three prescriptions.

“These were not done, the government just sat down and issued Certificates of Occupancies to private companies whose only purpose is to make money, there is no proof that the government has any percentage share in BUA company. This is a clear case of modern day slavery and robbery. We are in court presently and cannot allow that to happen.”

By the way, avoid "storage fees" by using transport companies that register your package with a waybill receipt of payment. If you hand over to a driver, chances are that he will drop it off with a store officer who will request for a fee at the point of pickup.

But where the story gets interesting is that when we tried reporting the fraud to the management of Peace mass Transit in Aba, the supervisor abi manager there simply said 'the company has nothing to do with it....that we should continue calling the driver till he picks up'

Its bad that a company will watch as its employees fleece unsuspecting citizens and the look away because its 'illegal waybill' as they call it.

The Supervisor is right. You took a risk by handing over a package to their employee when you could have used a more expensive but reliable option, Peace Mass Logistics.

Sports / Re: How ‘dundee United’ Became An Insult In Nigeria by aieromon(m): 12:26am On Feb 15
One, popular on online chatrooms, is that the phrase stems from the 1989 Fifa under-16 world championships.

The tournament was actually a very successful one for the Scotland under-16s team, which made it to the final before losing to Saudi Arabia on penalties. Records show Nigeria were also present, with the team knocked out by the Saudis in the quarters.

Significantly, that match was played at Dens Park. In fact the ground was home to four of Nigeria’s games, and the team also trained there. So could this be the answer? Is it possible that a contingent of mischievous Dundee fans could have played a part in the origins of the phrase? Could they have taken it upon themselves to inform a group of 15-year-old Nigerian youth players that “Dundee United” was local slang for an idiot?

A second theory, popular among some Nigerians, is that it stems from a few years earlier, when United reached the semi-finals of the 1983-84 European Cup. Their tie, against Roma, is seared into the memories of United fans.

Jim McLean’s team won the first leg 2-0, only to lose 3-0 away, with subsequent reports suggesting Roma had attempted to bribe the referee the night before the game. And so, according to this version of events, use of ‘Dundee United’ stuck after large numbers of Nigerians backed United at the bookies, only to lose big as Roma headed off to meet Liverpool in the final.

Olumide, who lives in Glasgow, says: “The players were basically just looking, as the other team took the ball off them. They behaved exactly like fools and it didn’t go down well with the gamblers. The Nigerian gamblers then lost their money, and so, out of frustration, anyone who under-performs, or behaves sluggish, or isn’t up to a task at the level expected was, and is still, referred to as ‘Dundee United’ by Nigerians.”

The answer lies in a two-week period, between the end of May and the start of June, 1972, and a disastrous club tour of West Africa. The trip really did go very badly indeed. United were matched against small, local teams, and they were woeful. Records from the tour reveal a middling start, with a 2-2 draw with Stationery Stores on 27 May 1972 followed by a 1-0 win against Benin Vipers on the 31st. That, however, was to mark the high point of the visit – United lost 2-0 to Enugu Rangers on 3 June, in a match played in front of 35,000 people, before drawing 1-1 with Mighty Jets on 7 June, and then ending the whole sorry affair with a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Stationery Stores.

These were amateur teams, and local fans had expected much, much more from a representative of Scotland’s top flight. United looked like fools. There are, of course, mitigating circumstances. The tour was a hectic one, coming at the end of a long season, with United’s players apparently thrown by travel arrangements and ill-equipped to playing five games over 16 days, in Nigeria in June.
