Music/Radio / Jay-z Inks $150 Million Deal With Live Nation by buckeye(m): 6:35pm On Apr 05, 2008
When it comes to Jigga, someone should invent a language called money, because that's all the man speaks lately.

After leaving his job as president of Def Jam a couple of months back, many have been grasping at straws trying to guess Jay-Z's next move. Now the speculation has ended: Hov's choice has been made, according to The New York Times.

Hova has inked a $150 million deal with concert giant Live Nation. According to reports, the deal includes 'financing for his entertainment venture, in addition to recordings and tours for the next decade.' The deal is one of several for Live Nation, which aims to directly compete with the industry's music labels. As part of the deal, Live Nation will have access to not just CD sales, but a larger share of an artist's overall revenue.

Live Nation, known mainly for major rock and country tours, is making its first major foray into the hip-hop genre after inking a deal with Madonna last year that's reputedly worth about $120 million over 10 years. According to their latest agreement, Jay-Z will receive financing from Live Nation for the start-up of a venture described as an 'umbrella for his outside projects, which are expected to include his own label, music publishing, and talent consulting and managing.' Live Nation will also contribute $5 million a year in overheads for five years, with another $25 million being made available to fund the rapper's other acquisitions or investments. The venture, known as Roc Nation, sees a split of profits with Live Nation.

The massive agreement also includes an upfront payment of $25 million, an advance of $25 million (which includes fees for his current tour with Mary J Blige), and an advance payment of $10 million an album for at least three albums during the course of the 10-year term. Other payments dealing with specific publishing, licensing and other rights will add up to approximately $20 million.

Jay-Z spoke briefly about the deal this week, noting that it has the potential “to reach the consumer in so many different ways right now. Everyone's trying to figure it out. I want to be on the front lines in that fight,” he said.

Jay also said that radio play wouldn't be necessary for his future as an artist: “In a way I want to operate like an indie band,” he said. “Play the music on tour instead of relying on radio. Hopefully we'll get some hits out of there and radio will pick it up, but we won't make it with that in mind.”

Live Nation's chairman Michael Cohl also addressed the matter. “He could be doing more tours and doing great. There could be endorsements and sponsorships.” He added, “The whole is what's important.”

@buckeye
mr buckeye are you scared that Rich Rodriguez is going to Michigan, I know they would be horrible next season because he doesn't have the personnel to run his offense yet at michigan but in a couple of years from now, they might start owning you guys 2 years from now especially if highly touted high school phenom Terrelle Pryor signs for Michigan.

@davidif, u are right, Michigan's team is not gonna be that strong next year. OSU are gonna be coming back with almost all their starters and that's something they havent done in a while now if u remember.
Illinois is going to be one heck of a team too next year, i just want more compitition, i dont like for one or two teams to be running the whole conference, it doesnt make it look good.

A quaterback must do whatever it takes to make the team win even if he does not have the personnel (like running back) around him and whenever "superman" was in the game, he always gave them an opportunity to win, it was only there freshman defense that cost them those 3 games.

Good point davidif, Tebow really helped his team a lot when they needed him. I like D-mac and i can take anything away from him, especially when he helped my team get back to the NC by beating LSU. At the same time, i can't knock Tebow's hurstle, he has more rushing yards than their running backs, he broke new record, he stayed consistence throughout the season and he's just a sophomore if that counts.

i would have picked Oregon's Dennis Dickson over Tebow, but unfortunately he got hurt. Tebow deserves it and i'm glad he won it.

davidif:

Be physical with their wide recievers

Double team Randy Moss and put a safety on Wes Welker

Thats the problem teams are having with that PATS, Randy Moss is so talented that they can't leave him one on one, and if they try to double team him that leaves room for Welker, Gaffeney and they rest of the recievers.
look at what they did to the Steelers last week, especially Smith their safety who guarateed win. there is a chance of them for them loosing in the post season, because teams like Colts are going to come at them hard, but i dont see them loosing any game on their remaining schedule.
Sports / Re: Will The New England Patriots Remain Undefeated? by buckeye(m): 2:22am On Dec 14, 2007
yeah, they will go 16- 0, 13- 0 right now and they only have three more games b4 the post season,

DEC 16 NY Jets
DEC 23 MIA Dolphins
DEC 29 @ NY Giants

The only tough game i see out of those three is the gaints game, and i am sure they will win it.

Music/Radio / Nas And Jay-z Mason's Theory Interesting Read by buckeye(m): 4:50pm On Mar 08, 2007
Just like i always do when i don't have much to do, i went on youtube.com and  came across a video about Jay-Z that got my attention. after watching the video, i went on google again to get some informations that relates to what i just finished watching. couple of articles popped up, but then i decide to share this with u gu y z.

Ive been following Nas and Jays career since they pretty much started out, Jay before dumbin down was prolly my fav, neck and neck with Nas, but after goin commercial i grew a hatred for him, thas besides the point, if you know your sh1t about these 2 emcees and you actually listen to their lyrics and try to understand them, you know these are 2 smart nikkas, i mean in a knowlegable way as in books, religion, certain "cults", specially Nas. We've all seen Nas transform through his career, most call it him being a hypocrit, including me, but i think this nikka just has a thirst for knowlege, and he grows as he learns. This explains him goin from a chrstian, to wearing kufi's, to becoming a mason.

If your up on Jayz, you know about his anti-god stand in life, and alot of times his subliminal message in his songs, im not going to go into the hundreds of lines, just a few tho, "if jehova witnessed bet he'd never testify", on the track called D'evils, or, "never prayed to god i prayed to gotti", "raise hell til its heavon", the track Lucifer, "lord forgive, he got the dark forces in him", he been on this tip since he came into the game, hes been a mason when he started rocafella thus the dynasty symbol being a pyramid. Then he went and called himself J-Hova (jehova), Masons think of themseves as Gods, they feel theyre superior to the rest of the world.

the whole thing with the masons is they recruit powerful, rich people, so most of the music industry is down, ive been knowin about this for years in rap, and there are alot of knowlegable cats in the game who are up on this stuff, Nas, Pac, Jay, Ra, but the 2 dudes that were anti iluminati were Pac and Nas, Pac made the track "killuminati" and Nas came at Jay with "ether" that had a lot of his masonic jabs in it, peep game

Ether has a few meanings, it is described as the area in outer space, and its a chemical liquid, when inhaled, is like a strong drug, trips the fukk out of people, it seperates your mind from your physical, people on it have visions of god, devil, galaxies, euphoria, and it is said that back in the day when their were possessed people, the priests would drug the possessed with ether, it was believed to kill the evil inside of them, this is where Nas' track title comes from,

"ether, that sh1t to make your soul burn slow"

When you become a mason and you get your first degree, you have to go through a bunch of rituals, and eventually sign your name on paper, there are a lot of theorists that say that is when you are signing your sould over to the devil, then its believed you receive good fortunes, i believe this is what Nas meant when he said

"i love you cause your my brother, you traded your soul for riches"

I always believed Jay and Nas' war was more than just a lyrical thing, and their dislike started before any Carmen sh1t, Nas was very pro-God, and Jay was the opposite, on one hand you got one dude callin himself (J-hova) god himself, then u got God's Son, meaning god sent, to destroy evil and protect, i saw it as more of a spiritual battle,

Thats why I was so shocked when i saw them squash the beef, not just that, but they met on stage, and since when do two hip hop nikkas shake hands?? not only that, it was in a masonic grip to let the whole world know whats up (those who recognised it knew atlease, and their the ones who matter)

Then all of a sudden Nas retires his Cross chains and gets a new Egyption chain, which is where illiuminati started, with the whole pyramids and all. The one track released since, hes talkin about "i slow dance with the devil" and "annuet coeptip, the plan and the message", what happened to his mom slow dancing with Jesus on Gods son?"

this was the video that drew my attension to this  subject.

Travel / Re: ADC Plane Crash In Abuja by buckeye(m): 10:36pm On Oct 29, 2006
According to CNN.Com,

Nigeria has a poor air safety record, with at least 11 crashes since 1995 that have killed more than 500 people.

The last crash involving ADC happened in November 1996 and killed all 146 people aboard the Boeing 727. That flight went down in Imota, Nigeria, after the pilot lost control of the plane while trying to avoid a head-on collision with another aircraft.

Third fatal crash in 12 months
Sunday's crash is the third fatal crash for Nigeria in the past 12 months.

On October 23, 2005, a Bellview Airlines plane went down in bad weather near Lagos, killing all 117 people on board.

An aircraft operated by Sosoliso Airlines crashed in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on December 10, killing all 108 on board, including many schoolchildren on their way home for the holidays.

Shortly after that crash, Obasanjo temporarily grounded Sosoliso and many leaders of Nigeria's civil aviation industry were fired.

Months later, Nigeria's aviation minister ruled that the plane crashed because it ran into wind shear during landing, according to a news release from Sosoliso Airlines.

Two weeks ago, ADC's chief executive officer Capt. Mfon Udom told a Nigerian newspaper he expected his airline to be recertified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to meet international safety standards by the end of 2006.

CNN's Jeff Koinange contributed to this report.
Music/Radio / Re: Nigerian Artistes And Poor Live Performances by buckeye(m): 9:06am On Oct 11, 2006
i see most people blaming everything on equipments and some blaming sound engineers. have u all forgoten that rehearsal is the key to good live performance? some of those so called artist will still mess up if given the best equipments in the world. it is only in Nigeria that i see artist coming to the stage without doing sound check prior to the show, not to talk of rehearsal. tho Niaja artists are improving, but i think we have a very long way to go. being a good artist is not just about getting paid to do shows or sell records, its more about spending back on your band/crew to arcive the kind of sound quality we need in the country.
