You are not been asked to go and dictate what tests the Doctor should do, so you are capable of asking the Doctor the question Babyosisi asked. Again this Doctor was the one who told you they suspected it, so if they have ruled out liver issue and retroviral, it's easier for you to ask what is the probability this is cancer.

Trust me, no one hears of cancer and go to bed and sleep soundly. We like all of you are eager to confirm or rule it out as soon as possible. What we need is the practical way to go about it with or without the current hospital treating him.

If the hospital is slow, as we think they are, what do we do? Compel them to hasten up? Yes! but we have to approach it with care, reason we kept asking for a doctor on ground to help us 'compel' them to hasten up.

Alternatively or in addition is to liaise with other doctors and seek their opinion and practical things we can do to get a confirmation as soon as we can, and Royver is helping us with that.

Someone's life is at stake in all these email correspondences
Do we tell the doctor here to stop until we get email response?


It is not an effective use of time

We need a doctor on ground that can volunteer at least once or twice a week


The general hospitals are on strike
The lab tests are being done in far locations aside from where he is admitted
It takes time to make diagnosis

Thinking out loudly - So Gbadexy makes the suggestion in bold up there, and all we get is excuses about how it would take three days for information to flow from the hospital to Doctor Osisi and back to the hospital SO they would rather prefer a doctor on the ground YET according to pickabeau, babyosisi's last email to them was December 13th.


December 19th (today's date) less December 13th is a whooping 6 wasted days of waiting for Doctor on ground when Babyosisi's free service could have been utilised oh How difficult can it be for any gentleman to ask the Doctor "is it Cancer Sir" or how difficult is it to tie one's headscarf round the waist and grab the Doctor by the collar and demand answers from him

All we have done here is say the hospital should hasten up the diagnosis process and rule out cancer, which was one of the 4 diagnosis they gave, nothing else...We are aware of ethical reasons not to disclose diagnosis. I know TB was one of the four suspected which puts it possibility at 25%, and when two were ruled out, this upped it to 50%...so my gripe is why CT scan couldn't be done much earlier, why tests couldn't be run concurrently, etc, especially considering the fact that the other tends to malignancy....In all, I hope DJ gets a clean bill of health

I ain't even on the opposing side, i am just perplexed how the hospital is taking them on a merry-go-round...and told them to ask if it's Cancer, if it's benign, but was rudely told the hospital will finish treatment of TB first after which investigation of the primary source of the cancer would commence...Oh Babyosisi I was also told to fly down to Nigeria to hurry the Doctor up if I am not satisfied with the pace and the meticulous professional method he is using.

Even though you give the impression you possess some knowledge of medicine, you are yet to tell us that you are a specialists in cases like Ahmed's case or prove to us you know better than those specialists currently handling him. Medical doctors from this site mailed us to give us their opinions and suggestions. Osisi even even took all the test reports we have so far to other specialists in US and forwarded to us their opinions and suggestions, all which we are taking into consideration.

1. You seem to have more information on the tests carried out at LUTH than we and Ahmed have. Please forward them to us.

2. Which of the reports on Nov.27 reveals cancerous cells? We were only informed of cancerous cells about a week or two ago when one of the results of the tests came. Can you please give me a link to that Nov 27 report?

3. The hospital is not ignoring anything but waiting for the result of the Abdominal CT scan that only came today Dec.17th.

4. If TB was suspected and the cost of treating it is not much why should it be ignored? And whatever improvement Ahmed has now is due to that treatment.

5. And who are "these people" that are still making it about them, their money, their sleepless nights, their numerous phone calls? Where is TeHN making it all about them? Our focus remains Ahmed's health.

6. Again I repeat, We are concerned with the time taken to reach a definite diagnosis including the amount spent, and we did inform the hospital of our concerns but we were told Ahmed has to be systematical and thoroughly examined so they don't get it wrong. We have no choice but to respect their demand and process till we are presented with better alternatives. Also taking into consideration Mynd's explanation that test results in Nigeria don't come out in few hours, but most times take days.

7. The reality I have to accept is that Ahmed is being treated in Nigeria hospitals with a lot of inadequacies which is unlike UK hospitals you are familiar with or other part of the world, where the facilities are in place and results are gotten in hours.

8. We already requested for suggestions of better alternatives days ago on this thread and beside your complaints and raising issues we already raised and taken with the hospital, you are yet to suggest to us a better alternative. Do you have a better hospital in mind? Do you suggest we fly him out of the country without a definite diagnosis? Or what exactly do you want us to do that we have not done?

**He ruled two (liver and retroviral) out in a matter of days. On Nov 27th, blood test reveals cancerous cells...today is Dec 17th/week 5 and update is still stating they are treating Tuberculosis after which they will now request further tests to detect primary source of cancerous cells, etc...


**Luth that he came from was already investigating Cancer in week 2.

r231 provided an update/receipt on November 21st stating N10,000 was charged for ultrasound r231 provided an update dated November 17th that he was taken to Surulere for abdo-pelvic ultrasound r231 provided an update on Dec 3rd that ANOTHER ultrasound was ordered. It's all still on the thread jeez!!! Two ultrasounds have been done according to updates.


I am aware Cytology was ordered Nov 27th. I am aware Colonoscopy was ordered Dec 2nd hence reason I said twas done "AROUND" the Cytology date... I am not a blind dingbat like you.

Look through the report below again and tell us in specific terms where their procedure became questionable and we might take it up with them.

a,b,c,d refers to the 4 options/differential diagnosis indicated by the hospital in that update...Ultrasound scan done 16th/17th of November threw up a mass...Cytology test done Nov 24th or was it Nov 29th revealed cells...Colonoscopy done around same time revealed mass on Colon...Laparoscopy ordered but it result wasn't published meaning it was called off...why was this called off? Why was liver biopsy requested for and not Colon biopsy which could have been done same time as Colonoscopy? Why treatment for Tuberculosis this week? Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...Why are they dodging option a since 3 weeks ago

Yes, I'm the TEHN accountant, but the right persons (coordinator - r231; spokespersons - oam4j and jaybee) have been replying you, but you didn't want to listen to explanation. That is where the issue.

Only wish we can publish the emails we exchanged in TEHN for you know how concerned we all are about the hospital's serial tests. At a point, Chaircover and OAM4J almost lost their patience with the hospital. These are things going on underground.

We're all concerned about the back and forth, but when a hospital ask us to conduct a test, yes, we can question them, but do you expect us to turn it down and refuse to do, when life is involved?

These are issues you're ignoring and making it look like we're just lying down dishing out money to the hospital like fools.

I had an uncle that had similar issue, it took yrs of diagnosis, back and front,before TB was discovered in his Spinal cord.
Life of more important here. The hospital is doing what they are supposed to do.

I understand the needs for extensive tests when necessary Ma'am, but in this case this hospital is being light-fingered and wicked, and time is of the essence.

Your concern is noted, we thought of the possibility too, but we are unable to reach the conclusion that it is a rip off. We also have no guarantee that taking him to another hospital apart from teaching hospitals will be less expensive. Private Specialists Hospitals in Nigeria are very expensive from our findings.

Tests were carried out,b and c were ruled out, meaning he is healthy in this department, YET hospital sends patient to do further tests for b again. Why


These further tests tended to a, YET hospital starts treating for e which was never in the equation before. Why


Now further subsequent tests tends again to a, YET hospital starts treatment for d. Again why
