MISS GHANA 3RD RUNNER UP MISS WORLD winner of the 2013 World Muslimah contest BOTH CONTEST HELD IN INDONESIA 2013 Both contest held in Indonesia. I think the Indonesians where overcompensating. They were playing on that odd notion that certain looks represented the real African look , which is why they chose the Ghanian contestant. I''m not being insulting but lets be honest with ourselves she was not the best of the African contingent. Perhaps too they like the fact that she is studying medicine and presented a role model to young aspiring girls, especially in a Muslim state. The Nigerian girl won the Islamic pageant for similar reason, her knowledge of Islam and the Koran |

Blue Magic: This is why the Uk wants Nigerians to pay 3000 pounds & u can't blame them for it. U can only blame the incompetent Nigerian Govt & majority of foolish Nigerians that support the Govt instead of ousting the Govt like what's goin on in Egypt. Above all this fool should have jst kept his mouth shut & demand for a lawyer. Visitors from India and other 'high risk' countries in Asia and Africa will be forced to pay £3,000 cash bond before they enter UK Plans by Home Secretary mean visitors lose their cash if they overstay visa India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to be targeted Pilot scheme will later be extended to cover work permits and student visas http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2346756/Visitors-India-high-risk-countries-Asia-Africa-forced-pay-3-000-cash-bond-enter-UK.html Maybe smart Indians and Pakistanis and others on the list should lead the way in destroying their countries in other to get a better one, LOL |

CAMEROONPRIDE: when you people get back your money and keep recycling looters , ethnic-rligious bigots Ha, ha ,ha what a laugh. All these nonsense countries naim you they talk? When Nigeria dey beef up security in gulf of Guinea, buying boats, training Nave men, these shits of french West Africa pass back go dey beg oyingbo to come help them. Useless people with their slave mentality. Extract: Following an increase in pirate attacks in the Gulf Of Guinea, a regional meeting of West African leaders have called for the deployment of an international naval force to help combat the situation. Last week, a report published by the International Maritime Bureau said that pirate attacks in the Gulf Of Guinea now outnumbered those off the coast of Somalia. The report said that 960 sailors had been attacked in the Gulf of Guinea, in comparison to 851 attacks off the coast of Somalia, a drop of 78% from 2011. The drop has been attributed to the increased use of armed guards on ships that sail in East African waters. At the meeting, Ivory Coast's President Alassane Ouattara said that "piracy in the region needed to be tackled with firmness", a sentiment that was echoed by Cameroon's President Paul Biya, and other West African leaders. President Alassane Ouattara went on to say "I urge the international community to show the same firmness in the Gulf of Guinea as displayed in the Gulf of Aden, where the presence of international naval forces has helped to drastically reduce acts of piracy." The report from the International Maritime Bureau also stated that the cost of piracy in 2012 amounted to US$950 million. 1 Like |

Any Ghanians you see who look slightly good i can assure you are mix with other African, whites or Caribbean. How do you know a Ghanian, they generally look and act foolish, always showing white teeth on a black face. They are scatta, scatta without composure. Give me Obasanjo any day a MAN who oooooooooooooooooZE CONFIDENCE and makes a woman feel SECURE. Look at the picture with him and President Carter, his presence was such he made Carter looks like a house boy. THIS IS THE REASON I CAN NEVER, WILL NEVER MARRY TO ANY OTHER MEN APART FROM MY NIGERIAN Men no other men have such bearing. Look at the reasoning ability of Ghanians here in comparison to Nigerians, makes me laugh. Lets separate the men from the boys. |
Culture / Re: The Official Isoko Thread! All Isoko People Should Post Here. by Calamama: 6:27pm On Jul 12, 2012 |
Isokos and Urhobos are very different ethnic group. They even look different; Urhobos are often darker in complexion whereas the Isokos are reddish in completion with thinner bone structures from what I have observed. Also the Isoko Erohwa, original language is very different it has no relationship to the Urhobos or any other languages around the area however, it is sad the language is now dying out.. It is likely that the Erohwa are the original Isoko people and the other Isokos offshoots. This Isoko offshoots and Urhobo have absorbed and influence one another but it does not mean that they are the same people. Igbo people and Calabar people do have influence on Erohwa visa versa but it does not then follow that Isokos, Calabars and igbos are the same people. This cross-cultural ethnic influence is widespread in Nigeria as a whole because many of the traditional attires, which Nigerians are known for worldwide, are a mixture of influences. Also why cant it be Isoko Uhrobo people why is it always Urhoho Isoko people this is a partnership of equals not of subordinate and superordinate. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Nigeria President Urges Boko Haram To Come Out And Talk by Calamama: 7:45pm On Jan 26, 2012 |
It's simple. The past government dialogued with Delta rebels and paid them. Critics now say, Boko want the same. They argue that there's bias in favor of the South if Govt was willing to pay ND-Rebs but goes after Boko hell for leather! can you believe such a ridiculous situation. I mean, theses groups slaughtered Nigerians, literally slaughtered Nigerians for money! Anyway, the mistake first began when we gave up Bakassi. From then on Nigeria was seen by the international community as weak. Sponsoring these terrorist groups was only a matter of time. If Govt negotiates with Boko and pays them you'll see that another group springs up in western Nigeria. So just as kidnapping became a business so might terrorism become a business. The Indonesians, Russians, Chinese, Lebanese et all would broaden their portfolio to include sponsoring terrorism in addition to sponsoring bonkaring in the short term while they await the lucrative opportunity that comes in the wake of another African civil war. |
Sports / Re: Kenya Accused Nigeria Of Over Aged Players by Calamama: 7:08pm On Jan 25, 2012 |
Na complex mathematics. If Nigeria win any age competitions these days, people say it is because we fielded over aged players. If we loose, they say we lost as a consequence of having fielded over aged players in the past and now it has caught up with us. We just cant win in some people's jaundiced eyes. Meanwhile every so called Nigerian believes everything negative others say about us. How honest is that and yet we're supposed to be lairs ! |

Politics / Re: Reasons "occupynigeria" Will Fail. by Calamama: 10:31pm On Jan 18, 2012 |
There's no reason why the Unions cant be political. All unions could fall under the auspices of the Labour party (their political arm) . Of course there's the difficulty that because of nepotism most unions might be one tribe heavy. Anyway the whole thing is a different argument for another time |
Politics / Re: Reasons "occupynigeria" Will Fail. by Calamama: 3:45pm On Jan 18, 2012 |
The ill thought "occupynigeria" over subsidy removal will fail because; True. in addition, international opinion is broadly in agreement with the removal so public cant rely on sympathy there. as for point 2, that will come in time. In fact, the way forward for those hungry for revolution may have come from the protests. once, the idea of revolution in Nigeria floundered on the fact of our diversity but now we can see that Labour Union could be used to represent everyone. So just as Nigeria may be a project which distracts us sufficiently from disintegrating into all out ethnic wars without end so Labour if it is built upon could provide an umbrella project which the common man could belive in. One day we may have a Labour party. |

@Poster, it is not too late to go get your head checked in this new year. not interested in your market woman palaver nor would your, drawing reference to the constitution of America or calling into question the legitimacy of Nigeria, based on civil war or the cliche of legitimacy through the rule of law or indeed the lack of one in Nigeria, distract from the central truth of my statement. |
Politics / Nigeria Has More Legitimacy Than America, Here's Why: by Calamama: 2:51pm On Jan 18, 2012 |
People keep on with this now tired line, "Nigeria is a contraption" or "Nigeria is just a geographic expression!" and then they sit back, swelling with self-satisfaction as if they've said something so fundamental those to whom they say it need several years of silence just to absorb the sheer intellectualness of it. I have grown up with those words ringing in my ears, therefor i have had many years in which to mull over them. However, after all this time, those words remain as meaningless to me as they ever were . The reason for this, is that those words do not stand exclusive to Nigeria. Most nations seem to me in one way or another to fulfill the tenet imbued in the words Contraption or Geographic Expression. I suppose that in the context of, "let us not act as if things cannot be changed", stating that Nigeria is just a Geographic Expression may have salience. But in the context of the so-called artificiality of Nigeria, the words are insubstantial since most Nations are artificial. First we as humans were nomads, next, hunter-gatherers, then with the advent of multiple livestock and farm holdings we formed larger societies informed by the need for mutual protection. From then on societies have grown or shrunk by one form of imposition or another. At this point someone might think, 'ah, yes, but some Nations were more evolutionary than others'. My thought would be that the extent to which Nations have their founding in moral principles is of more importance. Viewed in this light, it may lend to the argument of those who question the legitimacy of Nigeria to frame it also in the framework of the questionable morality of the British and other colonialists. America was a country founded on immoral principles far worst that Nigeria. America belonged to the native Indians, Europeans left their lands, subjugated the Indians and formed America whereas Nigeria was created by amalgamating the nations of the the Niger area-in order words peoples that belonged to the area. |

Thank you for this. It was heartening to read and note that there are still people who understand that external politics - at the very least - impacts on the lives of ordinary Nigerians as does local politics. Moreover makes a change from the very dull and infantile, tribalistic drivel that has come to overtake and further dumb down the already dumb level of nairaland discourse. |

Watching the clips on British Pathe site: http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=74847 Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa you realize how deeply rich were the cultures and contrasting these with today's Africa you realize that wars and tribal strife are what has made Africa the wretched place of today. |
