Politics / Re: Why FG Should Not Increase Minimum Wage For Workers by Ehiscotch(m): 9:51am On Jul 20, 2023
Increasing minimum wage will just give workers the false impression that they have more money not knowing that it will lead to a mutual increase in the inflation rate and a strong reduction in the value of the naira further causing more damage; things will just balance themselves out.

Concrete steps need to be taken but these things need time and Tinubu has no magic wand. The economy has been in a mess for a long time and we either put an end to it now of suffer more serious consequences later.

Christians, pray for your country.

Religion / Re: This is Why God Command Joshua To Kill Everyone by Ehiscotch(m): 8:37am On Nov 17, 2021
Job really didn't know why he suffered. You may never have thought of it but God never revealed it to him.

I think whenever we have to explain every reason for every action we take we then undermine or discard the place of trust.
A child taken to the hospital for inoculation doesn't understand why his parents pay the doctor for sticking a needle in him but has to trust that they know what is best.

If God is playing a fatherly role in your life he reserves certain rights to withhold information from you because he knows all, sees all and requires that you trust him.

May his name be praised.

You are basically asking me if a god exists beyond the universe. The universe is how we describe the totality of existence so how can something exist outside existence? You either have a god who is also part of existence or a god which is nonexistent since it is not part of existence.

What do you call existence?

What "exists" physically and can be proven by scientific methods?
Religion / Re: God And Science. by Ehiscotch(m): 5:18am On Nov 12, 2021
LordReed:

Oh you got me there. What I mean by my question is such a concept as you propose is incoherent. You're asking if à being can exist outside of existence, that is not a coherent proposition in my view.

No. I said "a creator outside its creation". Keyword(s): Creation(or).

Our knowledge of existence is limited, we can't even understand all that we know exists but even science makes us know that there is more that we don't know and understand.

A creator primarily exists outside its creation and creates laws and regulations or principles that govern how it operates.

I don't question the way it is, I accept the way it is which is why I don't believe in fairytales of gods able to exist in direct opposition to the physical laws of the universe.

So a creator should not exist outside his creation?

Change "universe", to 'me', or rather, 'yourself'.

Would you rather not prefer yourself in a state of Flux - constantly changing?

The reason I ask is I am personally glad that the universe is in a "state of Flux - constantly changing". It's called growth - think tree, and baby; and evolution, if you think in thousands and thousands and thousands of years.

I'd have hated a world of 'as it was in the beginning'. An eye for an eye makes me shudder!

The phrase "anything can happen" — as used by Lordreed— is relative; there are really no boundaries and I can assume that just anything – A Lion becoming herbivorous or a human laying eggs — can happen.

You see my concern is regarding the "laws of the universe" not the universe itself.

The change you are referring to isn't something new; it is constant.
All seem to be like a cycle that has existed forever: a baby grows to become an adult; a seed a tree, etc.

There really, like the philosopher in Ecclesiastes says, isn't something "new" under the sun. It just seem like a recombination of things to create something "new".

That's why, I think, the words "discovered" or "find" is aptly used in many fields.

Besides, what is your issue with an "eye for an eye"?

That is a strange question since I can't do anything about the nature of the universe.

Isn't it rather strange that we can "question" the way the universe is but can't really do anything to change it?

Most of the countries you all are calling "developed" were and still claim to be religious.

The only reason why the "third world" countries even have any hope of developing or have even reached any minute state of development is because of religion.

Give me list of scientific discoveries made as a result of religious practices?

Your religious background has nothing to do with your scientific career because it will be useless in that field. You cannot discover anything in science with by using your religious beliefs but science has the power to uncover a lot of anomalies in your beliefs and this is why religion is trying to find a common ground

The fact that believed that a Sovereign, Almighty God created the universe and exists independently outside it made them to believe that there was order and laws and principles guiding the universe and it wasn't just random matter coming together by chance.

This influenced their thoughts and there are books abound about it.

I think atheist have a problem with believing in the interference of God in his set order or laws and believe in the absoluteness of certain laws until proven scientifically otherwise.

Thus, I believe most atheists are deist, sort of: they don't believe in a Sovereign God.
So God can't make a donkey talk or do anything outside "known laws" ; He must conform to human logic, reason and principles and anything outside that scope is inconceivable.

This Greek thinking of a God or gods in (within) creation is the only possibility for many atheists.

I must say that it takes a lot of belief to say that the world came from nothing or is self created.

While this doesn't even answer why we exist or why we have got life or to the purpose of our existence.

Yeah some

You are a non-believer to a God you do not know.

Your opinion of God is garnered from the words, character or lifestyle of those who claim to know him but they really aren't Christians or are misguided or misinformed in some parts about his character or attributes.

The only way to really know is to sincerely see for yourself.
It is like drawing conclusions on a book or movie from people's opinions or reviews or criticisms without watching it yourself.

What Bible text says you should pay tithe or you won't have money?

None. Tithe was a command to the Israelites to pay 10% of their agricultural produce to the Levitical priests — these Levites were only permitted to work in the temple, so they couldn't work or farm.

But there was a time when the Israelites stopped bringing these tithes and offerings to the temple and God used Malachi ( a prophet) to warn them to desist from doing so.

God's law generally came with both a blessing and a curse for obedience and disobedience respectively. .

And whenever they were disobeyed God sent a prophet to warn them (the Israelites) to repent or he was going to judge them.

Let me give you an illustration:

A man has five children, who jointly run his business but he is old and needs regular care and treatment. So the children, all adults, chose the last of them to quit work and take care of their aged father while they provide for both of them. Now, imagine the others renegading from this agreement and failing to provide support from the proceeds of this business. Do you think it fair to the father and the last child who is taking care of him?

You see charlatans have hijacked this old testament law and used it to enrich themselves from the ignorant or desperate members.

Maybe, you should read Malachi and educate your family and friends who are ignorant.

The Bible talks about women being more gullible, susceptible to deciet and being defrauded by the devil's ministers and even the pharisees during their day. Besides, why worry, when most of these people are not even Christians. It is sad that most of your assumptions of God are based on the actions of people and not Himself.

I'm only answering this because I desire not to assert superior knowledge but to speak of the Truth, which is folly to the world. Perharps, someone out there is truly seeking answers and might be convinced to read the bible and if they are really sincere will discern the truth and be saved.

As the Scriptures say, “Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough.”

2 Corinthians 8 vs 15.

This was taken from the book of Exodus when God used manna from heaven to teach an eternal message about the rich and the poor; and gathering to equitably distribute resources.

Wow. Hallelujah. You are a miracle. I believe God's major solution to disaster is to prevent us from disaster but we mostly are ignorant and deluded in conceit that we go on and suffer for it then turn to blame God and expect a miracle. Many times God shows mercy and asks us to turn for him to heal us; other times he uses man's failures to his glory still. Praise God.
