imeller:

This is what the law has to say about this abhorrent practice.

In Nigeria, under the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Act[3] it is an offence to issue dud cheque. It is noteworthy that the Criminal Code or the Criminal Law of Lagos State did not specifically provide for an offence called issuance of dud cheque but it made provision for an offence of obtaining property by false pretence.

In a bid to deter the practice of issuance of dud cheque, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) came up with directives implementing measures to dissuade the commission of the offence. Where any person is found to have issued a dud cheque or is a serial user of dud cheque the banks would be empowered to do the following:

recall or cancel all unused cheque books issued to the serial user of dud cheques;
bar the affected user from the use of clearing system for a period of 5 years;
the name of the dud cheque offenders would be forwarded to three Private Credit Bureaux and Credit Risk Management System (CRMS);
the names of the offenders would be listed in the database of Credit Bureaux and Credit Risk Management System (CRMS) for a period of 5 years from the date of submission. The name of the offender would be removed after 5 years but if the offender is found to have committed another offence of issuance of dud cheque, the name of such offender shall be permanently reinstated on the database;
the serial issuer of dud cheque would be barred from accessing credit facilities from the banking system for a period of 5 years.

The problem is does Nigeria has a centralized database for checking individual's credit score or rating?

On 5 October, the 15-member United Nations Security Council announced that they had agreed to nominate Guterres, after an informal secret ballot in which he gained 13 encourage votes and two no opinion votes.[11][12] The UNSC officially nominated Guterres by adopting a formal resolution on 6 October, and a week later he was elected by the United Nations General Assembly on the seventy-first session. Guterres is expected to take office on 1 January 2017.[13]

This 2 News are from the same country, can we do some analytical thinking on whats wrong with the Prisons systems. The Prisoners revolted out of Hunger, and mere looking at them shows clearly they are highly underfed.

whatever123:
I dont know where all this hate against India is coming. I am Indian and I have seen nigerians there live in style. I used to see them driving in flashy bikes..hooting etc. India has tons of churches and mosques - so they dont face any problem. Actually many of them try to pull a lot of stunts which I suspect they dont try in western countries - like fighting and hitting the police. And thier drug peddling is common knowledge - how will you feel if you are middle class parent with daughters and a foreigner is peddling drugs near a street corner.

All this in no way justify attacks against nigerians but its totaly wrong that nigerians are living cowardly life in India. They probably live far more confidently than they live anywhere in the world.

Coming to Indian in Nigeria - I dont see any evidence that they are indulging in any crime - but complaints that they are tough taskmasters and not easy to work with. Thats to be expected - look these guys travelled thousands of KMs to better themselves economically they are not going to squander it away by being nice - they are going to be tough but not criminal. You will find many happy go lucky types in india but its probably in lesser frequency among Indians who are driven to travel to forerign countries.

You should be proud that people travel thousands of Kms to supply skills in your country and glad that Indians are doing it.

And Indians wherver they go dont preach you about human rights, democracy etc - they simply adapt to existing governances - they dont try regime changes, proselytation etc - they just mind their business - nothing wrong with it.

I concur with this OP, I have stayed in India on countless Occasions and never witnessed any type of Racial slur or Prejudice, Nigerians who stay in India will testify that no other country can be so Accomodating like it, but of course our people misuse this opportunity by engaging in all sorts of unnecessary Social Vices. we are not the only criminals, we no thief pass Indians, but I think we are by far the Loudest Criminals.
