Happy NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL......
I believe when you did your 1st application in Nigeria, you sent the home office some sort of proof that you meet the English and Maths requirements. Hence they issued you your resident permit. I believe that same document is sufficient enough as proof. No need for another (IELTS). This is my understanding, Others would give their advice as well...... Goodluck

Yes in Nigeria you sit for IELTS for resident permit.
You need to do another test again dont if its called B2 for FLR.
What am saying is the level 2 English here is like GSCE here .
Just want to know if i could use my level 2 English because i am an assistant teacher in a school.
Will just do all the exam i no want wahala.

A word is enough for the wise.

It was only an advise I offered and not a mandatory option. If we dont have people that made one mistake or the other, we wont know what to guard against. But I just feel it is better safe than sorry.. Even if it is the fault of the ECO, that will not exempt one from paying for re application or will that cut the time appeal will take. WE JUST NEED TO BE WISE AND CAUTIOUS saving ourselves time and money..

Thank you so much phardey for your responses. I really appreciate. Please i have 3 more questions on this issue;
Firstly, the FLM(M) application is in about a year now, is it still okay for them to rent a new apartment?

Secondly, do you have the link to include someone's name on the TV licence bill?

lastly, my own BRP was issued on 09/11/2017 and will expire on 06/08/2020.

Please when is the best time to submit my application for the FLM(M) ?

Thank you.

I dont think its wrong if they want to rent a new apartment my friend who is also on spouse visa they moved houses she arrived last year.
Just make sure they have joint names in bills eg council tax and enough proof for cohabitation

I read get appointments 3 or 4months before it expires.

Yes, it is possible to apply for a provisional driving license with a spouse visa. That's what I did when I first arrived in Jan 2017. Feels like many years ago now, chai.

After I got my provisional license, I took the theory test and later did the driving test. I now drive around in my car! Well, just so you know know, I managed to pass the driving test at the 3rd attempt. Blame it on bad driving habits I picked up back home.

3 times!!!!!!! My husband suggested to do the online free test before throwing money to the wind. Lol
Thanks

Hi, longest time.. been soo busy. Answers to your questions.

You can get a drivers licence with your Brp cause you are on settlement visa. I got my provisional licence 2 months I came into the UK and by the 4th month I got my full drivers licence and I drive like a pro now in the streets of Manchester city. It's all in your mind. How determined you are. I took the driving test once and boom!!! I passed. It cost me £370. So give it a try, it will relieve lots of stress. Just get the form and fill it then , send your original brp with it and they will get back to u.
Again, have you registered to vote? I have and just voted this May. There was this election in Manchester and I voted the Liberals or whatever their name is...lol. It will help to build your credit rating and that will help you to get credits, loans and Finances on cars and other stuffs.

Hope the land is treating you well. Cheers

Hey am good o longest time.i see you painting Manchester with your skills lol finally got my provisional drivers licence i know how to drive have been driving in Nigeria it was the hand gear that first gave me issues.
My husband had to help me out went somewhere so he could teach me.
Pls email your number to me i might be coming to the Manchester for short break Thursday to Sunday. This is my email : jesusdelight31@gmail.com

I did wonder this but decided to wait for the experts to ask the question. I understand that his wife is the citizen and has access to funds, but I thought irrespective of that access, couples that are joined by a settlement aren’t still allowed to access public funds.

Anyway, I hope they overlook it in his second application Cos if there’s anything they hate, it’s immigrants touching their money, even though you are paying tax.

You are right there! My husband that is full English he cant get public funds becos of me so as not to affect our next stage. Just hope everything goes well would lo e to know the outcome.

Hi,

With your spouse visa, you can get drivers licence, it's a settlement visa. You can apply for provisional licence online on the gov.uk site or with a paper form that you can pick up at the post office. Bear in mind that you will send in a proof of ID with it. When you have the provisional licence, you can sit the theory test and/or book driving lessons and go on to get your main licence. All the best!!!

Pls do i have to submit my international passport?
Thanks alot got my application form

Hi guys, great job you’re doing here. Just got my spouse visa a week ago, but I’ve been here before for my studies so a lot of my paper work are already in place (NI no, bank statement (proof of add), etc).

Anyway, I would like to know if I must change my surname as all my docs (gp, bank account, NI, certificates, passport and BRP) are in my maiden name. So must I change my name to my husband’s? I already have done a newspaper publication and sworn and affidavit in Nigeria but for some reason I would like to leave my name as is, would this affect the next stage of my application?

Hi ya welcome!

Thank you, we get our council tax bill every year. So I used the one that came in May 2016 and May 2017.

You don't need to include every months bill. Your can just include 2 council tax bills.

Remember the documents has to be from at least 3 sources. I used over 8 sources. Infact I didn't know how to calculate and achieve 12 letters single or 6 letters combined.

I sent over 24 documents as proof of cohabitation.

Thanks soo much! The 12 letters single is from you and your spouse single names, different sources combined?

Glad this thread has been setup. We will be doing my husband’s FLR(M) at some point this year.

I have been trying to calculate when that will be. I need help please. We intend to do the face to face submission (priority) .

Please I need advice on:
1; The earliest we can do face to face application
2; The latest we can do face to face application
3; The earliest and we can d postal application
4; The latest we can do postal application.

My husband arrived UK on March 27 2016
His visa is expires 18 Nov 2018.

I want to start early to ensure we get all the stuff needed on time. I also hear the priority appointment can be difficult to get.

Look forward to your responses.

Thank you.

According to what i read 3months to apply by the visa expires.
If you read the other guy thread above he advises to apply 45 days by post
Priority application takes one day to get results thats face to face

Good evening all, been following the thread for a while now. Nice job ure doing here Lexusgs430, Justwise,Joygirl etc. Thanks to u all, and to as many that have been so selfless, patient and consistent in answering our numerous questions.
A quick question pls...does it matter who submits the online application?I am the applicant, resident here while hubby's the sponsor in the UK. Someone told me that I'm meant to fill the online application but hubby prefers to do it himself. What's your take pls...

To be honest, its best you let him fill it unless you have that money for DHL to post to him. You still need to print out the application form its best you let him fill it there all you can do is guide him on what to fill through video call or chat is what i did bottom line everything is going is still to Sheffield

The letter writing for the application he did it, i read it we took out some things and added .

You submit your passport and do biometric
Unless you still have things to send to him
