There is an opportunity for investment in a company called TransparentBusiness through their global private offering which is open to individuals from all countries (except US residents or citizens).

The company currently owns a software for monitoring of remote workers, and their demand has dramatically increased due to the COVID 19 pandemic, just like that of Zoom and similar companies. For more information, please check their website: https://transparentbusiness.com/.

The current opportunity at $1 per share will end on November 20, 2020, and they will move to the next round in December 2020 which is open to only US high networth individuals only at $2 per share. The minimum investment is $6000, while maximum is $1,000,000.

I personally participated in the last offering round which ended in mid-October, 2020 and got my digitally-signed share certificate in 3 working days after international transfer. Please note that they will review your LinkedIn profile to see if you meet the profile of their desired investors before inviting you to participate. This is not an MLM scheme, as I was not invited by anybody. I saw the original advert through LinkedIn, did my due diligence and decided to invest.

The company plans to list publicly on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) at $10 per share by end of 2021, so if they fulfil their promise, your share would have risen 10-folds by then. But, note that you cannot sell the shares before the IPO listing.

Like any other investment, please do your due diligence before investing, and do not invest more than what you can lose.

If you are interested, please send me your email by WhatsApp only through my business line: zero eight zero59859728, along with your Nairaland moniker, so that I can register your email with them and send you the link. I currently have the opportunity to invite 20 people, of which I have only 10 slots left.

Public Disclosure:

1. I am a current investor in the company as mentioned and a registered brand ambassador. So if you buy the share through my link, I will be entitled to a fraction of the percentage of the investment as "marketing fee" which they would have paid to LinkedIn and other online media. Therefore, you can actually invest directly, but the marketing fees will go directly to the owners of the company without paying me for marketing the opportunity.

2. I may be able to share evidence of my share certificate (if absolutely necessary) with some very known names on this forum, but not everybody for security reasons.

Agreed. I sold my previous stock but got in again at 0.30, which is about $9:00 at reverse split. I am down more than 50% as of 1hr ago. I eould not have bought if I knew reverse split was imminent. It always seems to be negative. Had same experience with $SALT. Dropped from $20 after reverse split to less than $12 since June.

please I did not say I am asking for help to feed, and I didn't say I was not into online class, every school, every state and every parents have their own peculiarities, you don't know the kind of school I run, even with the home lesson that I organize now, it is still not enough for my teachers, most of my parents are average parents that are not I.T inclined, and have refused to pay for online class even the little we do we do for free, and the one's we have is not enough, the government needs to do something for the private school owners and teachers Asap

Madam, it is good to know that you are making good effort in this regards, and I do understand the challenges you mentioned. The truth is that most businesses are really struggling for survival now.

I will also suggest that you consider recording the classes on DVDs that can be sold to parents. This will be cheaper than costs of online data and hopefully they will buy.

I also think that the umbrella body for private school proprietors should make more advocacy to the government on behalf of members at this time, as they provide a very essential service to the society. I wish you the best.

How many homes can afford Internet and hardware needed for the online class. Don't just look at issues from a borrow point of view.

I understand that, and I specifically mentioned funding as a possible issue. Please read my post well. I also addressed my question to a proprietor because it is her duty to make provision for her teachers. Many other schools did the same, so it is not out of the blues. The initial investment by school proprietors on their teachers will pay off on the long term.

The world will change forever after Covid19 whether we like it or not. Some poorly-paid teachers will not even return to their schools if they can find a way to earn more income online.

As we speak, many companies in the service sector have not returned to full operations and many staff are working from home. Same can apply to the educational sector.

I am a private school proprietor/ teacher, it has not been easy at all.The government should please come our rescue

As a proprietor, is there any reason why you are not organising online classes for your students like many other private schools? I think you can make a little money through this, and also create a source of income for other teachers.

I also believe that individual teachers can also offer online classes to their students at home, especially those preparing for common entrance, JSSCE and WAEC/NECO. Even after COVID19, this can be a source of extra income for teachers. If funding for laptop, data, etc. is the issue, I think that is what teachers should ask for help for, and maybe use gofundme platform.

Asking for help just to feed is not really sustainable.

Career / Re: Software Development Or Civil Engineering School by kunlef1: 1:09pm On Jun 11, 2020
I will advise you to go ahead and take up the Civil Engineering position, because with a profession like Civil Engineering, you make more money with more years of experience, especially after you have obtained your professional certifications, NSE, COREN etc. You still have the option to switch to IT at any stage of your career, but the reverse is not possible if you do not practice from the beginning. Since you already have a job offer and the pay is even better than your current IT position, you have crossed the most difficult hurdle, as you can only grow in your engineering career from there. I will advise you to at least work for 4 - 5 years in civil engineering to obtain all the required certifications, and then decide if you will like to continue along the path or switch back to IT, so that you have more options in future.

IT skill is very useful and will be here for a long time. You can still keep your interest alive while practicing civil engineering, as IT is applicable to all other fields nowadays. Maybe you may be able to even apply the IT skill to develop some apps for civil engineers.

Cheers.

when I said schools I meant tertiary institutions

Tertiary institutions should have moved online immediately the lockdown was triggered.

Most private primary and secondary schools are now teaching online. All they needed was about 1 week training and provision of required amenities for teachers.

Any higher institution that cannot switch to online teaching is a disgrace. Open universities have been operating for years and mostly online. So, I still can't figure out why higher institution students are not learning from home. Only practical aspects of courses may be suspended till physical schools resume. These are the things ASUU should be fighting for, instead of shameless strikes for an flimsy excuse.

Coronavirus should not be an excuse for anybody to stop learning. Even many workers used the opportunity of the lockdown to learn new things online.
Education / Re: My Take On Lagos Parents Disapproval In Reopening Of Schools by kunlef1: 8:30am On May 29, 2020
Saintinoo:

The point is this, after the day's work, you go back home and meet your kids.
What if you are infected, are they not at risk also?

My point is that as an adult, you have better control of your actions. Since you asked me, I have been working from both home and office since end of lockdown to minimise my exposure to other people, by doing as much as possible online. If my employer had insisted in my coming in daily, I would resign from the job. No employment is worth my life or that of my family. I have also avoided going to the market, by buying almost everything online and neighbourhood stalls.

So, I have taken practical action to avoid getting infected, and the main reason is to protect my family. The people who choose to live carelessly and mingle in crowded areas are free to believe in the existence of COVID 19 or not. Also, most private schools are teaching online now, so children are still learning. Also, since parents get home earlier now, they can help out with school works. I was already teaching my kids during the lockdown even before the school started. Public schools are far too overcrowded, and safety is unlikely to be paramount.

I still think that what teachers should be advocating for is empowerment to be able to teach online through training, internet, laptops, etc. This is even more stress for parents, but we are not in normal times.

The countries that have opened schools have MASSIVE testing in place and gave been able to isolate the disease clusters. They also have reliable data yo work with. Can you say the same about Nigeria? For every disease, there will always be an effective way to manage it, either through vaccination or drugs.

Is the teacher's concern to meet with students or teach them? Teaching does not have to be always physical, just as many businesses too have realised now.

I will gladly continue to pay for my children to continue to learn online rather than put them in harm's way. Government can also do the same for public schools.

For those living in face me I face you, they are mosrly not in areas where COVID 19 is prevalent. That is why correct data is important so that government can effectively quarantine affected areas only, while life can continue in others. Many areas of Lagos has very minimal number of cases, which is why we are still relatively safe.
Education / Re: My Take On Lagos Parents Disapproval In Reopening Of Schools by kunlef1: 5:57pm On May 28, 2020
Unfortunately, you cannot compare offices or banks to schools, because adults can comply with physical distancing rules. It is only the people that do not value their lives or know the implications that mingle in crowded markets or public places. That is why online sales of of everything including foodstuff is booming now.

How can you prevent children-to-children or children-to-teachers contact in a nursery/primary school? How will you take care of an infected child in an isolation ward without parents?

I do not think the argument of teachers being affected most is right because entertainment industry is worse off. Most private schools are organisizing online classes , and parents are paying for it. So how are parents selfish? I think that is what you should advise your school owner to do, if they are not doing so already. Also, how many companies can operate at even half capacity with the current curfews and economic condition? Hence whether we like it or not, there is going to be reduced income and economic hardship for most people - parents and teachers alike.

Even if you open schools today, attendance will be very low, and teachers will still be laid off. It is only schools for children who are old enough to fully observe social distancing rules that can be opened, but it is not safe for nursery/primary schools for now.

Moreover, nobody has a right to criticize parents for protecting their children as it is their duty to do so. Government can go ahead and open the schools, but teachers will still not earn any income if students don't turn up.

Selfish parents.... If they open schools, you can't ask your children to stay home... No be force... Allow other parents

It is part of the responsibility of parents to protect their kids. In same climes, not doing so is a criminal offence. So if you do not have kids, you don't have a right to criticize a parent for doing their God- given duty. Your salary for teaching cannot pay for any child's life.

The same way, if any parent feels comfortable enough to expose their children to coronavirus (especially nursery/primary school age), it is also their choice.

braveheart77:

So.if there's never a cure for the virus. Schools should never exists again basically? How do you people criticise like this..

Until there is a vaccine or when all infected cases have been isolated, you cannot allow little children back in school. How can children keep to physical distancing rules when they will be touched by several people from entrance gate to their classes and will stay in one place? How will you expect them to wear and keep face mask throughout the day without risk of suffocation? In case of infection, will you be able to isolate the child without the parents being there, which will lead to more congestion? Does the government have logistics to handle this?

My own take is that children who can comply with physical distancing I.e from JS3 to tertiary institutions may be allowed back in school in well spaced classrooms, but not nursery and primary schools in a place with high infection rate like Lagos. Most private schools are already doing online classes and this should continue for now, while government upgrade the public schools to do same. For rural areas, town halls may be used for online classes with adequate spacing under supervision of parents or guardians to avoid contacts with care givers. Many other industries are affected too, not only the teachers, so I think it is selfish for teachers to be clamouring for children's life to be placed risk. Even businesses that are opened are operating at less than half capacity because of curfew and physical distancing rules.

Moreover, this is a time for under-paid private school teachers to upgrade their skills and try to get more students online so that they can even earn higher. This is what they should be clamouring for.

I am in Ibadan. I am into importation and sales of different items from fashion to home essentials and sometimes electronics and gadgets. Recently I have been getting requests for men's clothes especially this latest design of shirt. (You can find pictures of the shirt on my IG or my thread on nairaland here) People are ready to buy in wholesale but I need enough capital because Turkey wears comes in series and it's not something I can buy in bits like buying from China.. You can check out my IG @zibahstores to see more of what I do. I would appreciate if you can help. Thank you.

Why don't you form an importation group with others who may be interested and you can split the costs. It is definitely likely to be easier to achieve than expecting total strangers to give you a loan of 2m. Otherwise you may also approach banks or microfinance banks since your business is registered.

You did everything you ought to do.
I realised some brokers can be very difficult.

I suggest another way that has yielded meaningful results in cases like this:
Gather your papers, scan them and do them an email expressing your displeasure and frustration about how they have handled this issue after so many years.
And then add the straw that breaks their back by copying SEC in your email.
Watch how they hustle to sort your matter out of fear of the regulator.

Yes, that is what I just did. Copied CSCS, SEC and my stockbroker. Also left message on SEC social media page with all in copy. CSCS reached out to me that they will contact my stockbroker to get the forms signed and sent to registrar after lockdown. All I know is that I will not visit anybody's office again. I will give them a little more time before harassing them further.

See the slip I was given below.
