Family / Re: Why Do Ibo Men Get Married Late Compared To Other Tribes? by naijaway(m): 3:46am On Feb 13, 2015
Normally igbos marry from 25 upwards. If igbo guy marry at 35 - 40 or more, more than likely his child will marry at a younger age because he normally sacrificies for he's kid, so he will have a grandchild in between 60 - 70 years old even 80. His children are more educated, and he's children children will be more comfortable. Is better than marry early then suffer and not take care of your children excerpt when luck shine or just struggling but when you are 40 - 50 years old and want to settle down, your children already have children and turn you into houseboy and look after baby people or else they suffer more. But if you plan well, or if your parents have money and foundation then you can marry after setting your foundation in school or trade. There is no right way or wrong way but when you have a fighting chance yes. You can even take care of your parents and your wife parents. Is not a dream that don't work. Marriage is good, suffer is not.

Politics / Re: "I Will Reduce The Cost Of Land In Lagos When I Win" - Jimi Agbaje by naijaway(m): 6:59pm On Jan 23, 2015
Am afraid he is right and it might be one of the best things to do. And since Lagos is the top leader in Nigeria 's advancement I envision this trend expanding exponentially.

My input would be that the state government comes up with a formula that taxes home owners according to your plot and it's uses. Say you have a big plot of land for just you and your family then your tax should be higher, and if you've got a couple of plots used for commercial housing or some legal industry that hires more than say 30 people then, you will pay like the base pay of a regular predetermined plot of land that should have already been formulated.

Anyway, another thing that should be checked nationally is the idea of anyone and everyone having shops in front of their houses. I don't care if it is your house or your inherited house, it is just so disorderly; It creates unfairness because someone who is renting a legal/official Shop will start to doubt if they made the right decision; it is also a beautification issue. I live in Festac and the house/shop issue is alarming. I no wan knock nobody hustle, but if you Wan hustle no make your gain cause many others pain except is the right hustle.

I doubt pdp and no high hopes for apc but I prefer general buhari because I believe even if nothing is done, he will really increase our megawatts to the tens of thousands. And to me that would be an improvement.
Politics / How To Defeat Boko Haram . Strategic Solutions Only. by naijaway(m): 7:28pm On Jan 09, 2015
If you were the elected leader of Nigeria today in a supposed democratic nation, how can you defeat boko haram with little outside help? Summarize

For me, I would urge the Senate to pass a proposal granting me more authority for flexibility. I would secretly order a quater of the army to a few miles off the borders of Niger, Chad, CAR, and Cameroun with the help of customs, and a few airforce. I would flood flash states (hot spots) with the sss and detectives. With the army formations around the states like they have now. I will begin a bombardment of propaganda campaign through radio, tv, pamphlets, etc to the citizens of those flash points encouraging them to report suspicious activities, how we care for them, on upcoming skills training, employment on roads, construction, and secretly paying most kids school fees. The kids parents and the kids will be required to give a fingerprint for forensic database and all employees private or public. Those coming through the borders will also be subjected to fingerprinting and other forensics. The sss and detectives will be fanned around the states one state at a time to gather info for the mopol and army. Every car or lorry will be documented. The citizens will be treated with the utmost respect but will be subjected to random road searches.
This shouldn't be a full blown war. It can be pockets of resistance with casualties. It doesn't need world class guns, planes, etc. But every resistance that is encountered should be dealt with full force. Even the soldiers and other security forces will be subjected to forensics and all communications will be intercepted.
I just woke up from my dream and the story was wishes.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Document Exposes Plot To Collapse Nigeria’s Economy By US & Britain by naijaway(m): 6:04pm On Jan 09, 2015
Na wa o. We nigerians (99.99%) love Delusions, awoof, and the easy way out most times. I guess its a human trait but with this level of intensity it has become too embarrassing. How can we claim to be the richest in Africa and can't show a tangible general success in nationwide electrification, or nationwide good roads, or nationwide good universities (not these quarter baked graduates with cult mentalities, or professor cheating and bribery intuition). How can we claim to have the best land forces in Africa and boko people are humiliating our forces. I have an idea of why this may be the case but I could be slightly wrong.
Anyway long story cut short, nobody owes us jack and we don't owe nobody jack except maybe west africa. The world is a ring for the survival of the fittest. If usa was down today, many haters will be happy and taunt them in their despair. USA ' s only true allies are UK, Israel, Canada, and Australia. France and the rest of western Europe just has an understanding and similarities with the usa. Is a cold world and to each his own. China don't give a hoot about no nation but themselves and somewhat north korea. During The ebola crises we(nigerians) accused the usa of not helping from many miles away but we couldn't help but humiliate our brothers and sisters next door(Liberia and Sierra Leone) not until everybody else was there to help.
USA is not Nigeria and vice versa. In the usa, am sure that the accountability of employees talk less of president is taken seriously. Is rough for usa too, so why should they be blamed for our incompetence and laziness. True talk, nigerians don't even believe in nigeria from the top down or bottom up. Make we use our brain at least 51% of it most times maybe we may collectively improve beyond our current conditions. God bless Nigeria. I respect the usa.

Politics / Security Services And Teachers Should Earn $700 And Up A Month by naijaway(m): 6:38pm On Aug 21, 2012

Facts: Security services and teachers are the core of any serious nation. I don't think i can emphasis on this enough.

Solutions :
Entry level police - $(650 - 700) per month
Highest paid police on salary @$ 60000 per year.
Benefits for all security services should include free lunch for them and their kids under 5yrs old; discount on city transportation; and other innovative stuffs.

The catch:
Four year higher institution or equivalent. Being fit at all times. They will be the first in to be documented on a national Biometric scheme.

Hints for disqualification on debate:
No money - cut senators, house, ministers, and other benefactors pay.
How is it possible - Dedicate #2 tax money from everyone that works for that reason.

Security services include olokpa, detectives, SSS, and military. Teachers at all levels.
Politics / Should There Be A Labour Party In Nigeria? by naijaway(m): 3:52am On Jan 17, 2012
I believe there should be a labour/labor party because:
*It is already an established institution made up of union, ordinary/regular, federal/state and justice workers.
*It is seen as a credible organization to the ordinary nigerian but not taken too serious.
*If their motto and stance can be "for the betterment of Nigerians", they shouldn't have a problem.
*If they can be the balancing act of this administration and make their case during the process to the Nigerian people about why they decided to get into politics
*If they now begin to explain to the Nigerian people about how they feel their pain in the current circumstance and the slow pace of growth
*If they can assure Nigerians that they are intelligent, great, and enduring people of all stripes that should be respected and that Labour/Labor can do that.
*With Labor they will be unions in many industries and their negiotating power will be risen.
and many more.

Labour Party of Nigeria come together with all progressive minded intellects, get structured and save Nigerians from the those pulling Nigeria down in order to raise  Nigeria to greater heights and fast.
Politics / What Should The Govt Stop Doing, Start Doing, Or Continue Doing? by naijaway(m): 9:03am On Jan 15, 2012
From my perspective, the nation should STOP doing these:

1) Stop the current subsidy removal
2) Stop the hand out to niger delta militants and instead pay them to work
3) Stop the excessive govt pay, excessive govt benefits, and loopholes for corruption by officals and govt(federal and state) contractors
4) Stop leaving the borders open
5) Stop letting IMF or others force or coarse us to apply a certain innovation that can greatly affect the internal economics or security
6) Stop paying chiefs, obas, sultans, etc

The nation should START doing these:

1) Start paying and applying the militants and other paid militants who wants to work for infrastructure developments eg railways, roads, bridges, school rennovations, etc
2)Start using murderers, armed robbers, attempted murderers for infrastructural developments that does not involve technical abilities because that will be the jobs of free and innocent civilians in the society. Murderers, armed robbers, and attempted murderers should be used projects like extensive underground rail network, less populated road network, etc
3) Start capping what the govt can pay senators, president, ministers, governors, LGA, house of rep etc; The president should be capped at $150,000 a year, the vice like $120,000/yr, senate president @ $100,000/yr, governor @$100,000/yr, regular senator @ $80,000/yr, HOR @ $70,000/yr, LGAs @ $40,000/yr, ministers @ $65,000/yr, etc These should be -$15,000/yr for the same positions at the state level.
4)Start paying police and teachers $800/month with benefits like free feeding on work  hours, discount on transportation, free education for self and up to 4 kids, free training related to the job, etc
5) Start capping govt benefits for govt officals up to 50% even if that involves cutting foreign travels, minimizing their housing benefits, capping the security entourage of officals to a car, an armed driver and a guard for senators and house of reps(HOR); One armed driver and one car for LGA;  Three cars and five guards(where the five guard double for rotating drivers) for a governor and the senate president; Two cars and three guards for vice governor; One driver that is also a guard for ministers; etc
6) Start building infrastructure and continue to maintain the ones built
7) Start doing property tax according to size of the land or house that are mostly for personal use
cool Start passing and implementing laws that guide housing and consumer services eg before a flat you built with intent to rent passes the inspection, it must have a shower, ventilation, painted, and free of hazards.
9) Start revetting the police, equipping them and start implementing forensics in crime solving
10) Start being innovative with the intent of loosening the pain that ordinary nigerians endure not tightening the noose with the hopes that things will get better
11) Start encouraging manufacturing and other lasting investments
12) Start encouraging a maintenance culture
13) Start prosecuting corrupt officals

The nation should continue doing these things above and many other innovative ideas to loosen and improve the lives of ordinary nigerians

1) Continue the unity of nigerians by reducing migration/residency hurdles eg any nigerian who lives and works in a state for 1 yr can vote in that state, any nigerian discriminated against due to tribe or watever illegal can sue that state

Politics / Re: Bomb Blast: A Burden We Must Live With – Jonathan by naijaway(m): 4:18am On Dec 26, 2011
Instead of encouraging fear with such unstrategic statements; He should have reassured the nation that the culprits will be brought to justice. As a president of a complex nation like Nigeria, he cannot and should not differentiate militant in the south from militants in the north regardless of their causes; Because they both kill innocent civilians.
He should begin to always take a stand and have a principle regarding the innocent citizens of Nigeria regardless of tribes or religion. Everyone should know that if an innocent citizen gets hurt or gets killed, then those responsible are against the nation.
At this time, he should begin with honest and serious inquiry as to the status of our electricity issues in the light of the public; Call out and continue to call out and poke nose senators, governors, representatives, etc who are eating all the money by calling for a pay cut across the the board of the top 5% beginning with elected leaders, fight for them getting paid $60,000-80,000 a year; Recruit and revamp the police force with higher standards of entry and retaining the job because they should be paid $800 or more a month and the money can come from the excesses cut off from the senators and other elected officals. The police should be trained and equipped with helicopters and drones, massive equipments for forensics beginning with the police force, emphasis on threat identification and not all out brutality, and always making them feel and everyone in the nation feel valued. Teachers should also be paid more than their current monthly salary coupled with benefits at least $600 or more monthly.
The borders of niger, chad, cameroon, benin and more need to have more military presence. It should be a crime for the military to brutilize a civilian if its not a man to man fight.
Tell southern militants and northern militants there will be no more negotiations if its not a peaceful gathering. Capture or kill a lot of them on both sides after you have warned them throughly meaning privately and publicly, reassure them and nigerians that their rightful causes of disdain are the national causes of disdain and hopelessness and all they need to do is work with you and the nation at large.  Tax churches and mosque along with every other private house especially private houses that are too large land wise.
Tell the nation that we will never buckle or adapt to home grown terrorism by all means and many more visionary and intelligent ideologies.
May God bless those who were affected by this tragic event and grant their families the strength to overcome.  May God bless Nigeria.  Amen.

Some people like to say this is Africa and all but the truth is anything is possible including grown adult brainwashing.
Africa grow up or be left in darkness and ignorance. There's power in the word of man but the word of God is the supreme power. We are suppose to believe that we have all these power in trees and fetus and watever but rank very low in any meaningful status compared to the other continents. Somehow they don't have those powers or don't depend on those powers but are always on top of us. Do you think USA, China, Uk, Europe, even pakistan will not be experts and use those powers very well. Why build planes and cars when they can use those powers for transportation.

Politics / Re: Nigeria Urges Gaddafi To Quit by naijaway(m): 4:21pm On Aug 23, 2011
Am trying to comprehend what is wrong here outside of the fact that we don't have dependable security, electricity, and have lots of greed.
So many here would have been happy to see Gaddafi send his men from door to door, alleyway to alleyway, and room to room, causing mass homicide all in the name of power which he already had for 42yrs. If a big fool like Nigeria who claims to be the giant of Africa didn't utter a word for all these years against tryanny then it is no wonder why we have been and continue to be a backward ever country (God forbid).
Kudos to goodluck on this issue, now continue calling out others beginning from our neighbor cameroun, then to zimbabwe, and anyother in the continental Africa including mideast while simultenously working on internal affairs. Is better we voice our distaste on this matter and be friends with sane people than keep quiet and be against the populace. Kudos to obama on this liberation struggle and yes they America and the other helps should be rewarded with contracts and deals; eventhough i believe the libyans are smart to also be beneficiaries of whatever deals and contracts eg technology, education etc Not like black africans.  These northern africans compare themselves to middle east, asia, europe, and  americas never black africans. The same badstard(gaddafi) who called black africans sad names, no respect for black africans globally. It is a shame.
Business / Re: Why Investors Shun Nigeria, By World Bank by naijaway(m): 12:57pm On Aug 12, 2011
These are just some issues of hinderance to the nigerian success. After all the key notes they pointed out, we still have some serious issues of greed; Land laws (my opinon is that the federal govt should own all the land in nigeria and everyone that owns a house on any land in nigeria should pay a tax and also depending on land size of the house should even pay more monthly taxes without expecting any tax return. So nigeria can minimize the issue of unneccessary inheritance of land properties); and traditional chiefs everywhere (stop this fakeness and madness or risk tribal hinderance that inhibits growth).
Politics / Re: Minimum Wage Won’t Solve Nigeria’s Problem –lawmaker by naijaway(m): 5:59pm On Jul 08, 2011
He is very right indeed. Senators, house of assembly, local govt chairman, ministers and councilors should all get one offical car and one security detail but the security system and organization should be on point. These representatives should also get no more than the equivalent of $50,000 a year which should be the highest paid group (senators) only the senate president and vice should get $60,000 and $55,000 respectively. The governor and vice should get $70,000 and 65,000 a year respectively while our president and vice should get $100,000 and 90,000 respectively. Police and teachers should be the highest paid civil servants with the equivalent of $800 and $700 monthly with various benefits like some percentage off services like their kids school fees, metro system, and free lunch daily while on duty. With so many other amendments. The minimum wage in general should be the equivalent of $300 a month.
These amendments should come with recommitments to the nation. Nigeria has to be in order for everyones benefit. We need to scrap traditional institutions nation wide and also tax churches. No more govt benefits and allowances for traditional institutions. Their job was like a chief judge and local govt chairman but now we have both. We need to also use home made manufacturers as much as possible and a land ownership formula has to be prepared. If you have more than a certain square mile home it needs to be taxed heavily. Our regulatory enforcers need to work too. And many more but we need to start talking and doing these things. The year is 2011 not 1911. The slow and resistant to change for the better pace we are taking only prolongs our incompetence.
With these and many more fair for all regulations then we should be on track to be a successful nation and a model to the rest. By the way all those govt offical cars should be bullet proofs. Only governors should have 3 cars and 5 security details while the deputy should have 2 cars and 3 security details. The president and vice should be 8 to 10 cars and 30 or less security details while the vice should be 5 cars and 15 or less security details. We need serious land reforms and instituional reforms. Everyone should be given a choice to be a king or a ruler after they meet the requirements. Too many traditional rulers n one small nation with benefits is a waste of brain power and finance and also hinders usfrom us. Grow up Nigeria. Be that beckon of hope and light to africa especially west africa. eVERY nIGERIAN SHOULD HAVE DIGNITY IN THEMSELVES AND THE COUNTRY AND I MEAN REAL DIGNITY WHERE ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS OR SENTIMENTS.
Politics / Re: What Attracted You To Support Buhari/bakare 2011 by naijaway(m): 12:29am On Apr 04, 2011
It is a situation where there are three wise men(buhari, jonathan, and ribadu) but one of them is the best candidate.
Either buhari or ribadu is more suitable than jonathan because with either of the two in a 4yr span, corruption will be fought hard more than 70% but with jonathan that result might just be 10 or 15 percent.
They all wish well for the nation but i think buhari will take it a step further in cleansing as much as possible the old corrupt people and give naija an independent voice internationally almost free from influence. He can seize finances and  properties of those guilty instead of borrowing. He is the best candidate because he will take it a step further than goodluck in that he would make sure national projects are done because he is very aware that corruption hinders progress. With that quote, i can also say corruption hinders goodluck to the nation and goodluck jonathan himself.
Buhari is ready to die for Nigeria in the process of genuinely making it better but i can't really say the same of goodluck and as much as i like ribadu i can't say the same of him but ribadu might run and then blow the alarm unlike goodluck whom is not ready to take any of these chances.
The ball is in Nigeria's court, we can support a genuine process of progress because at the end of the day it is a process(none of these candidates can clear all the evil that exist in the country)  but the trick is that some will perform better than others and also without ffear of others.         With that said, vote wisely.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Gadhafi Vows To Fight On, Die A Martyr by naijaway(m): 12:20am On Feb 23, 2011
The guy is just a demon. All these tyrant leaders thought everyone especially their people are dunces. African leaders should condemn this situation. I've said before now, our president (any nigerian president) should be watchful for these tyrants in africa and condemn their regime without fighting them. Cameroun's president should be next to go soon and a country like Nigeria if ruled by sensible and visionary people will plan for that situation due to border crossing AND then condemn libya and cameroun president.
The tyrants are feeling the fever now where they are the most (middle east and north africa) and soon west africa; next to go should be traditional rulers all over Nigeria regardless of their fake saboteur histories - their palaces should be turned to libraries and any other public institution. Equality, rule of law, and intelligent principles are not only for some people outside of subsaharan africa.
In any unknown and most knowns, the right way is the best way regardless of situation.

Good news. Would have been more better if the news had said nigeria's powerful finances and graft agency forces US to expose peptuators, including former VP.
e have to begin placing Nigeria and her ways for the better future because a better Nigeria is a better west africa and a great example for the east and south of africa.
Let us take the difficult and necessary steps because current generation is digging more hole for now and future generations.
*Let us make it a crime to steal /launder 100,000naira owned by the govt at any federal/state level; including taking bribe of any sort as govt officlal or representative.
*Let us balance our budgets and stop all this financial ambugity in the society. All local govt chairmen/women should not earn more than the equivalent of $35,000 with another $25,000 as offical necessities eg transportation, feeding, and emergency housing, bonus, including discounts on transportation and housing etc; House of reps $40,000 with $30,000 incentives as the LGA; senators $50,000 with $35,000 incentives; governors $55,000 with $40,000 incentives; vp $85,000 with $55,000 incentives; President $100,000 with $30,000 incentives; all per year. And minimum wage should be $400 per month for a regular govt civilian job.
*Let us tackle housing issues by building high and minimizing sensless real estates. If we manufacture as much as possible those prices will have to go down because of less building imports.
*Let us abolish chiefs and other hidden dictactorial titles and use their so called palaces as community libraries and bigger ones more than a certain square feet as museums. All we have to spend on are renovations including rennovating some of them as research labs or police stations if none.
Politics / Re: Is Nigieria Moving Forward? by naijaway(m): 2:42am On Nov 10, 2010
I think Nigeria is crawling/rolling forward but the aim is to speed up so that it can gain momentum and fly upward and then forward. If the combustion system has a lot of dirt/soot that can affect its heat transfer another analogy would be if the spark plugs are really dirty that can affect the momentum of the car and am talking serious dirt here but we are looking at the tire which can also affect the momentum but we are having an engine problem because we didn't take care of the dirt first.
Is not a race with others is just that we can do way better than other if the culture or foundation are there.

If we were a car :
*We should definately focus on the basics eg affordable light and water - which is the accelerator pedal, the seat, and battery
*We should definately determine to be less corrupt ie padi padi jump line moves - which is the radiator, engine horsepower/type and condition.
-people being arrested for corruption - is the equivalent of servicing the car when due.
-removal of traditional chiefs/thiefs whom are not voted in because of some strange theory - is that dirt/soot in the engine that is hindering the car from accelerating.
*We should definately take good care of our educational system especially from ss3(mass cheating) and up(cultism) - because that is our transmission system.
*We should get our police to be respectful, respected and accountable - that is our car registration, emissions, and whatever car rules in any game we participate.
*We should get our land laws straightened out more and promote residency without fear of ethnicity or religion - which are the tires that move the car.

etc

We don't need state federalism or watever, we need accountable centralism of the federation and some state freedom in terms of innovating and needs, definately not natural resources control.
Politics / Re: GEJ At Silver Bird Anniversary! by naijaway(m): 7:38am On Nov 08, 2010
Like say the government could help with piracy and even with better allround infrastructure so the producers
make use of better facilities alongside the general populace

tru talk. infrastructure !!!!!!!!!!! that's the magic wand here.
Yes, not all infrastructure can be built by the govt but things like clean high grade roads to help their logistics when preparing for a shoot while also helping other populace in their activities, trains, affordable electricity inorder to cut them a slack in their generator upkeep and for the internal populace to have a means to watch the movies or shows, security, education, etc. Priorities whether visionary or necessary matter in nation developments. .
Politics / Re: Why Is Nigeria's Business Climate So Hostile? by naijaway(m): 9:50am On Nov 07, 2010
It is hostile due to a combination of issues talked about and ignored.
Example of the talked about are: electricity, water, security, and lack of organization.
Examples of ignored are: lack of organization; serious lack of accountability; political deterioriation; very shaky work ethics; very flawed educational system from the students and teachers esp in the universities; lack of long term goals and expertise, etc
Lack of organization - for the fact that we are not really assessing our long term goals thereby ignoring our ignorance shows that we lack organization.
Lack of accountability - a very broad variable. Chiefs ask you for bribe for doing busines in any community even after you have paid your necessary fees regarding a business. Local govt chairmen are supposed to speak on behalf of the local govt and when he doesn't he can be voted out but chiefs also claim this roles and pass the titles to their kids and families. Least we forget their ancestors cooperation with the colonials. Either you fought and was removed or you stayed/were installed and 95% cooperated.
*If every two community in the same state with existing chiefs and their supposed palaces were consistutionally seized and one rennovated for (1)library and (1)museum nationwide. Just maybe, equality and respect will become our tradition.
Flawed educational system - just when we should be serious with decisions and nation building we do the opposite. The fact is majority of colleges have less expertise for various reasons and many graduates compete in cults than on educational projects, many pass cult activities and approvals than they would honestly pass their academic activities and approvals.

God bless Nigeria.

tru dat! we should investigate but at the same time learn everything about the making of such weapons structually, materials, and through investigations (as per finding the culprits mentality). We should document them and see if we can begin mass production. More should please come through naija including f-anything, black hawks, etc. Those iranians should be threatened that they will be deported to israel while the iranian govt should be told the bail money ($500,000 per individual). Israeli investigators or any investigator should not be allowed one on one interrogation. We should use ecomog clout to patrol the coast lines of west africa in other to seize more of these from anybody. Any arms seized equals more weapons, more tech, and more bail money.

Two DMI agents marshaled me into this exquisite country-styled villa in east London. The lawns leading to the family building was carefully trimmed. Along the path were wild exotic flowers from various remote parts of the world. Inside the living room were pictures that revealed everything foreign to England. I looked at paintings on the wall, and saw assorted paintings of African wild animals. I saw sculptures in the image of African gods and goddesses. The carpet was inviting in looks but obscure in origin. That was where I had my first meeting with Lord Lugard in between cups of tea and coffee.

Below is an excerpt from our discussion.

Question: How have you been all these years?

Lugard: I’m doing pretty well. Old age you know makes one reflect. Sometimes, events humble me, you know. The English men of my time used to think we had a monopoly of knowledge, but events have proved us wrong.

Question: You must have had enough time to reflect on British adventures in Africa. Is there anything you wish to share?

Lugard: You know, our initial goal apart from serving the Crown was to create a world in our own image. We had wanted to bring light to the Dark Continent but it did not look like we achieved that.

Question: Could it be that you are regretting the adventure?

Lugard: Not really. For one, we integrated Africa into the world setting, even though it is lacking behind once again.

Question: Was the whole Imperial project in Africa a Whitehall design to react to the challenge the British Empire faced from France and Germany? Was it all an attempt to save India, which was the biggest money making colony for Britain?

Lugard: It is easy to say so in hindsight. But for those of us who were involved, there was something nationalistic, something evangelical, and something romantic in all that happened.

Question: Was it true that you were deprived of fund by the Treasury in London, which made it impossible for you to undertake necessary development projects? That in your effort to meet profit margin expected of you, you ran an inefficient government structure that encouraged corruption?

Lugard: I do not know what books you have been reading, but I know that we did all we could considering the resources at our disposal to embark on our noble goal of civilizing the natives for their own good.

Question: Africa, you know, never asked to be integrated. Africans were in harmony with their natural environment before you guys came…

Lugard: To some extent, that may be true, but it was inevitable that if Africa refused to meet the world, the world was bound to meet Africa. That was just what happened. That was what we accomplished. It was divine.

Question: But must you cause so much destruction in the process? Must you destroy so much things, bring down so much fences, fences you knew nothing about why they were up in the first place?

Lugard: You do not blame us in this absolute way. If you look at historical realities, you will understand that explorers who delved into unknown territories when faced with the unexpected must enforce their reality into the new society. That is the survival instinct of man.

Question: So does it mean that you regret the destruction of Africa’s innocence by the Europeans?

Lugard: No! Africa was not that innocent when we met her. Remember that the Arabs got there before us and in some parts of Africa, the Romans and the Greek had come and gone, leaving behind their footprints.

Question: Now, let me go to Nigeria, which you had a lot to do with including the amalgamation of the Southern and Northern protectorates and getting your girlfriend to name the territory Nigeria. Based on what is going on in Nigeria today, do you have any regrets?

Lugard: No! I do not feel any guilt at all. Don’t assume that we were Gods. Even though we were English, we were not exactly Gods. We did not envisage all the events that took place from 1914 to 1960. First of all, we never knew the empire would not last forever. Secondly, we never knew you guys would chase the Europeans out too early.

Question: We chased the Europeans out too early? Is it not more like too late?

Lugard: I said too early. Without the surprises of the 20th century, all of Africa would have been like South Africa. There would have been a significant population of Europeans all over Africa. I do think you guys need us to maintain an equilibrium, which I agree we disrupted in the first place.

Question: You brought your system of government to Nigeria with no attempt to incorporate indigenous political arrangements. Wasn’t that dumb?

Lugard: We could not integrate something we did not understand. Remember that in places like Northern Nigeria, we did little disruption of the prominent order we met. We left it virtually intact, you could even say that we strengthened it. Which shows that our interest was not necessarily to cause any upset. We only embarked on such rearrangement when the existing order is in conflict with the interest of the Imperial Majesty.

Question: You belonged to what they called the Sandhurst School of Thought. In fact, you were a product of Sandhurst. So obviously, you have something to do with the establishment of this tradition of Nigeria held captive by Sandhurst graduates. What do they teach you guys in that school?

Lugard: Sandhurst is a fine institution of higher learning in the best of all military traditions. It has consistently produced courageous men who had influenced the course of world history in no small means.

Question: You were born in Madras, India in 1858. You served in the military before you went to Uganda where you practiced your own style of colonialism. You arrived in the protectorates of Northern Nigeria and pressured the emirates to accept British protection. You introduced your signature policy of “indirect rule”. And you lobbied the colonial office to amalgamate the Southern and northern protectorates into one country. What was you primary source of motivation?

Lugard: What answer will I give that will satisfy you? Do we say “evil genius” in me?

Question: That is not funny at all. Anyway, how do you view the current Sharia crises in Nigeria? Why should the blame not be brought squarely to your feet?

Lugard: Like I said before, you all chased us out too early that we could not finish the Nigerian project. And there you are, for 40 years, totally at a loss as to what to do.

Question: So what will you do if you were still there?

Lugard: Are you asking us to come back?

Question: Hell, No!

Lugard: I thought as much. African men and his pride. I bet 100 years from now; you guys will still be blaming colonialism for your problems. I wonder when you will begin to take personal responsibility. You don’t see England blaming the Romans for our problem. You don’t see America blaming the British. But all you cry babies will continue to point accusing fingers on England. Believe me, we were just a force of nature. We did all we could to fulfill what was written. As for you guys, you just have to go and finish the job.

Question: We are preparing for a Sovereign National Conference to let all ethnic groups in Nigeria to come together and decide the kind of country we want. Something you guys should have done first before dumping us all into one nation.

Lugard: Good luck to you all.

Question: If we succeed, we shall get all of Africa to copy our example. By so doing, we shall reverse what your people did during the Scramble for Africa.

Lugard: I like that attitude. I tell you one thing though; the Western world is tired. That fowl has gushed out all the blood it has. We have virtually exhausted all we can give to the world. So it is over to you guys. It will be nice if you can pull this through. If you look at it, there are more Africans in Europe at present than all the English men and women who went to Africa. Also in America, there are more Africans than all the Britons who were in Africa at any given time. So you guys can do it if you really want. You guys can take over the world and show us what you have got.

Question: That is so gracious of you.

Lugard: One thing I have learnt over the years is the ability to gladly listen to any fool. It is an indispensable skill in politics. If I had it in me 90 years ago, I would have done a better job in Nigeria. Honestly, I thought you guys were just fools who shouldn’t be listened to. Now I know better.

Question: So will you recommend reparation to Africa for all those years of abuse and exploitation?

Lugard: There you go again. Looking backwards rather than looking forward.

Question: Didn’t our elders ever tell you that those who did not know where the rain began to fall on them would never know where it stopped?

Lugard: You guys pretend as if whatever is it that we did to Africa was the worst thing that ever happened to a people. Obviously, you are unaware of what the Romans did around the world. Ever had about the Crusades? If you want to talk about massacre, people were massacred. If you want to talk about cultural destruction, forced conversion to foreign religion, it all happened during the Crusades. Ever asked yourself how English people became Christians? Or do you think Christ was an English man? Europe you must know has had its own share of barbarism. The world changes. Forces come and exert their impact on the world and leave the stage for others. It has been like this all through the ages. The job of a people is to cast their spell while they can. That way they must have contributed their own quota to humanity.

Question: If you believe what you just said, why then are you all in the West putting us down, putting chains round our ankles?

Lugard: The goal is for you to free yourselves and soar. No power on earth ever relinquished its authority just like that. The English fought the French to the last, remember? And we are doing all we can to resist the Americans. In this competitive life, nobody will just hand over the touch to another without a fight. You have to go and get it.

Question: The generic colonialism you helped create has moved from palm oil to crude oil. What is next?

Lugard: Brain oil. In fact, that is already taking place. And you are a living proof of that. Instead of you to go home and change your society, you are here looking for Lord Lugard, hoping to pick on his brain and see what he is got. You cannot stand your own people but you are eager to blame an English man who crossed many rivers and seas to come and bring light to a Dark Continent. You guys have always wanted the ball in your court. The ball is now in your court and you are all running away in doves. Running to stadiums all over the world where the game is over and the celebration is taking place. What a show of courage! What a shame!

Romance / Re: How Should Men Overcome Womanizing? by naijaway(m): 2:42am On Oct 19, 2010
Question has to be "how do people overcome sexual temptation?". because ladies also have an intrest in manizing as much as guys have intrest in womanizing. Society just change the concept but in reality women like sex as much as men do even more. Think dildos and different sorts of intimacy gadgets still yet there's still intrest.
Anyways to answer your question, pray and don't let the world sink you in except you are in a submarine then you can sink in for a while. Stick to one until she fs up too bad then discard and do it again; if not play along. There will always be beautiful ladies every hour, everyday, every year, every decade, and every century. Caution yourself. Me weey dey talk, am just staying afloat by prioritizing my energy. Gbelewu neva catch u wen agro hollo am b4. oh boi u go maintain.

Very loud applause.  It can happen in Nigeria, only that the price of disel and fuel can sour the project in the long term. Power has to be constant and affordable.  grin

Politics / Re: What About Nuhu Ribadu's Manifesto? by naijaway(m): 1:38am On Oct 13, 2010
Regardless of how we look at it. A confident Ribadu is the best candidate for Nigeria period. Others are gimmicks and power hungry.
Some people fight for the greater good of Nigeria, some people fight for their ethnic group in nigeria, and some people fight for their personal and associates goods from Nigeria. This election if pushed back for a year will highlight these individuals. Vote wisely.
Politics / Re: Why Is America So Blessed? by naijaway(m): 1:28am On Oct 13, 2010
America -USA to be precise is a country that has many flaws but strive for the greater good. They have a visionary and can do attitude. They have many dumb spoilt individuals but by and large they live by values. Thank God for obama their supremacy has been extended, education is once again mainstream. Beware their values are contagious.
If only the whole of Nigeria can have the infrstructure of the worst infrastructural state in the USA THEY WOULD BE A REAL VISION 2020.

Goodluck Nigeria is not the same as goodluck to Nigeria. The latter comes first and needs to be prayed for more. If it were about name, some peoples name are godspower, etc. A great intellect can bring goodluck to Nigeria. If we are to stick to our cultures, some people campaigning names would be ebele nigeria, ribadu nigeria, babaginda nigeria, buhari nigeria, etc pratice what you preach not only when it suits you.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Campaigner Quits Over President's Comment . by naijaway(m): 1:05pm On Oct 10, 2010
Ribadu for President of Nigeria.

Ribadu begin calling PDP bluff without personal insults. Include fashola, enugu state governor, wole soyinka, me, and this abubaka guy in your team.
You (ribadu) are a better candidae and more intelligent than the guy in power now. Take advantage of PDP's fumbles and their unnecessary constitution. Lead your campaign and force goodluck to a debate then request that the election be pushed back by a year. Campaign in universities.

Go ribadu. show your independence from pdp, from goodluck, from foreigners who are not nigerians, and from your fears.
You (ribadu) can break this gridlock and show a way forward. Don't worry about pdp they will bring themselves down in this order goodluck --- babaginda -----obasanjo----anyone in between and guilty. We can move forward. Yes we should!
Politics / Why Ribadu Should Win : by naijaway(m): 3:59pm On Oct 07, 2010
In summary, Ribadu should win because:
*PDP's agreement/constitution is not Nigeria's agreement/constitution.
*Nigeria cannot stall becasue PDP has stalled.
*PDP has failed to thoroughly deliver Nigeria from many woes and we(Nigeria) can't keep going down the drain.  We need a valuable change.
*Goodluck has been presented by God to bring down IBB who in turn will bring down OBJ who will bring down others deeply involved. This will clear the way for a new Nigeria.
*Ribadu can actually advance Nigeria's cause with any intelligent and less corrupt lady as his running mate. eg okonjo iwela, or anyotheer valuable person.

Advice for ribadu:
*hire me as part of your team for more advice.
* become relevant by attacking the PDP empire not goodluck/ibb. Also remind them of diplomacy and to forgo violence.
*Campaign in universities, sports centers, through the media, and in public squares.
*Bring intellects to your camp eg wole shoyinka, fashola, enugu state governor, etc
*have an assessment of solutions to Nigeria's problems.
*Hurry PDP up from their slumber and force their aspirants to debates.
*Advice the president and INEC chairman to push the election back to a year.
*Holla at me for more valuable advice that's deeper than what i already adviced. Email would be posted later.
