And there are people that won't pay even with all the embarrassments. The point is, there are legal ways to go about this.
Imagine a company i dont know threatening me over a loan someone else too. Someone i haven't spoken to in years o. It's crazy na
Dem no dey default loans in America or Britain? Can these companies go to those countries to display this madness?

Lol, what legal ways do you want them to take against someone who defaulted a N5,000 - N7,000 loan? Do you know the huge cost for legal action?

You guys should think and put yourselves in their shoes too. Yes, their interest rates is high but they didn't force you to take it.

The issue here is that most Nigerians are chronic debtors who love taking loans without a single plan of paying back. Even your president is a chronic debtor and has put the country at the mercy of China.

I have had several experiences in loaning people money. Once they collect the loan, they refuse to pay back.

I don't blame these so called loan companies, they're running a business with the intention of making profit and paying their workers/bills

Lol why kill yourself when you can just declare bankruptcy and be done with the whole affair. Nigeria doesn't have debtors prisons as far as I know.

This loan app and loan shark thing is not our culture and should not be encouraged at all. The average Nigerian wants to 'borrow' money and not pay back! We know how we do handle ourselves, either give a fraction of what is asked or give and forget about it because you loose friends and loved ones when you ask them to repay loans! How do you carry the above bad character to a company whose sole business is giving and recovering loans? You see someone ready to lend you money at the shortest possible notice with no questions asked and u refuse adamantly to return it.. So you want their own to spoil while your own should be well Abi? Haba! Look, any money that you don't have and cannot raise from your current circle of family and friends, you don't deserve to have it at that time, lock up and wait till a more convenient time! Stop using your own to spoil others own!

First off, they are a corporation, not individuals, there are ways to get your money back from defaulters legally without driving them to damn suicide, it is just common sense, you start by reviewing your damn credit score.it is not rocket science, this bastards don't do that,as soon as a day or two goes by and you don't pay they come roaring like a lion

What legal action do you take against someone who defaulted in a 7k loan? Or do you think legal action is cheap?

I don't support these loan companies but most Nigerians love to default on their loans. Default on your loan, face the consequences. Shikena!!

This is complete stupidity.
If you collect loan, simply pay back and if you can’t don’t collect the loan..
This isn’t that bad or difficult to do.
The country is hard, you now see a company that wants to lend you money and you still have the guts to default,
See ehh If I own a loan company and you default payment, I will hunt you and kill you.

God punish you and your generations for that comment of killing loan defaulters.

Look at the criminals. After borrowing, you don't want to pay back... After committing suicide let your dead bodies and organs be sold to pay back the loan.

Can you imagine this rubbish. This is why you should avoid poor people in all that you do.

Poor people will reck your business no matter what

How can someone borrow you money and you don't want to pay back. Then you claim rubbish and commit suicide.

Let them die

We have too many fools in the country already.

Every Nigerian has criminal tendencies and you can see it here

Fools.

Some of you have very awkward way of reasoning. In sane climes, if someone is a defaulter, do they go about publicly publishing the person's details and calling him/her a thief outrightly? Or you want to say that that is part of the conditions the person agreed to while requesting for the loan?
Nobody is perfect. Even the Fg borrows and defaults, and we are yet to see where Buhari was called a criminal for owing.
There are regulations for this kind of issues and criminalizing or slandering the defaulter isn't one of it. Who even told you that the borrower would not want to pay back? How did you arrive at that conclusion?

Oga, their "Terms and Conditions" is illegal in the first place. Those companies operate illegally due to oversight by the regulating bodies of the country. They don't have any right to criminalize anybody for defaulting on loan.

Lol na mumu they feel embarrassed from messages from all these loan sharks.

The ones I'm owing since 2019 I have vowed not to pay them.
If I collect loan from any loan company and they went ahead to breach my privacy by telling my contacts I'm owing them, that's the end of me paying them the loan.
N/b: I'm not poor as you guys may think currently, but I can't pay any of those loan shark penny cus they breach my privacy.
I'm just sad that the money I borrowed all together from those bastards then is not upto ₦100k. They can't come and be embrassing me cus of money below ₦100k now, when they had tarnished my image online already.

Let them meet Buhari to pay them back

All I see in your topic and writings is stupidity. Be prudent in your spending and save yourself from all these rubbish thread you are creating. As simple as ABC, don't borrow if you can't pay back on or before your due date. I have a friend who sees owing loan companies as an achievement and I just had to cut him off. Most of you ass holes would borrow from more than 10 diff apps. How do you plan to be successful with that reckless life

Why would anyone take a loan they know they won't pay back. Isn't that callous and wicked? That's going to deprive people that are in genuine need of loans. Spreading their I formation on social media is not enough. They should be arrested docked and made to pay the money.

And here ithe ANONYMOUS COMPANY that can hide its own name and the sum of money thier victim are owing them by fighting dirty but they can go extra mile my attaching pictures of individual victim just to be at the receiving end. Thier own message context seff is like that of a criminal..

Nigeria and our black way of thinking. You borrowed money and you refused to pay back, and if I may ask who owns the money?? Is it the lender or the borrower.

This topic shows that must Nigerians have lost there senses of reasoning. This shouldn’t even be a topic for discuss at all. Asides Nigerians not having an habit of paying back loans and averagely are criminals. If you borrow money and you do not pay back , the finance company is expected to do what it takes to collect there money back from you. Period!! What nonsense talk!!

You must be an illiterate if you can't see grounds for suing these loan sharks.

First, there is a case of defamation of character. Except you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the borrower is deliberately withholding repayment, you should never call them fraudsters. How can you call someone a fraudster simply because they have failed to repay their loans?

Second, criminal threat. I have seen messages where a Sokoloan agent was threatening someone with Ogun. In fact, this is a criminal offense.

Third, breach of my privacy right.

I can go on and on.

Defaulting on a loan is not a criminal offense. The law allows these loan sharks to report you to the supervisory and moderating credit agency. But the law does not allow them to threaten or publish your private details without your permission.
You just wasted precious time and energy explaining something to someone who doesn't have the capacity to reason logically.
