I'm an atheist, and I found that I'm incapable of dating women who are particularly religious. I could go out on a date with a religious woman, and that's usually solely by merit of me pretending the whole time as though I'm truly in for it.

Since long term relationship with these women would have necessitated that i make pretence a hobby, logic sets in and we inevitably part ways.

In a highly religious country like ours, it's quite hard to find a woman who's an atheist as me, let alone a decent one.

The moment I am headed to a relationship with a woman, I tell her my religious stance and they’ve always been okay with it and I respect them enough to not want to undermine their own beliefs. Infact I always make sure it’s one of the first things I tell them so we don’t have to go on if that would be a problem.

I have no issues with what you wrote except that even the so called religious folks you are trying to defend are not any better as most are guilty of all that you listed there.


Except we want to deceive ourselves, it's better you deal with people based on their personality irrespective of their religious affiliations to avoid dissappoinment. Religion helps to curtail all that you put up there but an individual has his or her own mind which most times takes precedent over spirituality.

Victim mentality ke? Atheist are in the minority in Nigeria which is a highly religious country. It is not bad if we choose to play the safe game. @ least his family did not abandon him/her. Even without friends & god baba is still alive.

Family thinks I believe in god. I've told them for years that I don't but it's like they stopped listening. My son will one day ask me why and I will just say 'because there is no evidence of one'. Except you are a practicing pastor with your source of income to protect, then I have no quams with this your comment but if you are a church member like me who drops offering then I have issues with you. Are you trying to tell us before Europeans brought their own religion to Africa that stealing,adultery, fornication, killing, lieing etc were all done freely without caution and only the coming of the Bible made them realize all that were sins and stopped. There is no moral standard and morality have been known to shift from one generation to another. What is standard today may not be tomorrow. So, how should that be a way for someone to live life?
