GeneralShepherd: Since I officially dumped the idea of a god, I haven't seen my parents. I went home this christmas,it was a wonderful holiday for me,little did I know my mum was hurting deep down inside!

She called me today being the 1st of January 2014 and started telling me how she asked Yahweh to give her a son after she had four girls(who are all married) which He did according to her. She told me how she has barely slept most nights in the pasy year because of my atheism. Also said it might lead her to her early grave if I continue living without god.

My dilemma is I can't pretend about god and the bible,yet I don't want my mum to die or have sleepless nights! When people read the bible the smile on face shows I don't believe any of it, when I try to pray I feel like I'm mad talking to myself or like a kid talking to Barney and friends!

How do I undo what has been done! How do I unknow what I know about god and religion? How do I ignore the inconsistencies?

I love my mum so much and will gladly become a sheeple for her to be happy

If you can tell me how man's flesh was made,how your respiratory system was designed,how your brain was programmed,how the concept of blood being the soul of a man,was achieved,etc;I'd believe there's no God. It's only a fool that will claim He knows for sure,and can give you adequate info on what happened in a place He has never been to. It's only a fool that will come out and contradict historical events that occurred before his/her birth. It's only a fool that will wake up and say a way of life that has been observed by thousands of generations in the past,is false,without giving concrete evidences to prove it. You cannot explain how you came into existence,yet you claim there's no creator or God? Smh. The difference between the fool and the wise is that,the wise will believe there's God,only to find out at the end that there is no God. As a parents,if any of my children forsake Jesus(God forbid) and embrace one 'spagetti mosquito',then i have failed,as a parent.

Well, I could give a few reasons why there may not be a god or any gods for that matter. As you are a Christian, let's kick it in with Jehovah, if you don't mind:
1) In the stories, he destroyed Ba'al & all her worshippers & burned down Soddom & Gomorah for their sins...in real life, he has done absolutely nothing to fight Allah or Buddha nor has he destroyed Las Vegas or any sin city!!
2) In the stories, he created the rainbow as a pact with man not to destroy the world with water again...in rea life, rainbows have been seen on planet Mars! Does Yahweh have a pact going on with some aliens there too?
3) In the stories, he tests his best friend Abraham's faith by demanding him to sacrifice his only son...With common sense, if Yahweh is omnipotent as supposed, why would he need such test to confirm his friend's faith?
4) In the stories, he demands the Hebrews to invade Canaan & to perpetuate genocide on the indeginous populations...By today's standards, Moses, Aaron & Joshua, the Hebrew leaders, would have been tried at the ICJ & hanged as criminals!

Ultimately, to answer why there may not be a god? The best answer may be to ask you, why should there be a god?

Sorry i'm a religious scholar if that means anything in context, i have studied the Bible many times and also the Qur'an. I can tell you authoritatively that i am very knowledgeable about your Bible and i don't need to find loop holes, i will show you things in your bible that your Pastors haven't come across.

Ask your fellow Christians who have had the opportunity to open that "NEW THREAD" with me and they will tell you one thing, they run away. And please note that the "GRACE and "OLD and NEW COVENANT" nonsensical excuses don't hold when i debate about the bible because i won't be talking about God but about Jesus and pointing out his atrocities, showing you that he is not any different from his father.

To hasten your step out of that "god" thing, consider discontinuing usage of the English generic word "god" which can refer to any god or group of deities & insist on addressing these gods by their individual known names. You will soon see more clearly the futility of holding dear to religious notions of deity.
