Hello.
To achieve your objective, direct your question to someone or a group of people.
It will even be more appropriate to send a PM (personal message) because not many people will like to make such information available in a public forum like this one.
Cheers!

@ kakashi, it is easy and yet difficult. It all depends on your luck. you are not going to get an HSE job from your country because there are lots of professionals on ground looking for the same job. means that you will have a better chance when and if you are on ground.
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by slimup: 11:06am On Oct 12, 2014
@ teetom, you can send me a PM here, then we can talk on yahoo.

@ slimup..i have read the thread. Issues of racism and discrimation are present but hows life in dubai..is it easy for a nigerian to move there and get a job. How much will it cost to go there, settle and look for a job?
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by slimup: 3:09pm On Oct 13, 2014
@ Kakashi, yes I agree there is racism but a lot of niajas are still here making it. It means that you have to be positive about coming and winning here,if not you forget it and look else where.

Life generally is OK, as much as we know that some of our brothers and sisters are not doing well, a lot others are doing great also.

As for the cost, you may have to talk to a travel agent but from my experience, budget between 400k upwards.

@ unikazzy, there is quite a number of free job sites you can tap into through Google, so why do you have to pay?
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by slimup: 3:27pm On Oct 15, 2014
@ etech, you are very correct.
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by tunnex190: 3:39pm On Oct 15, 2014
@slimup, thanks a lot. You really are doing a great job here. Please I've got some few questions to ask you about Dubai's visa. I need to confirm the genuineness of a Dubai's visa which has just been issued to me.

1. It is boldly written at the top of the visa like this: Entry Visa- New-Work (sounds like 2months work visa to me but I don't know if I am very correct) Does it mean this visa will only allow me in to Dubai and I will have to find a job myself and then lasts me a two-month?

2. On the visa, there is profession which is a Waiter (like how much they pay waiter) accompanied by a Restaurant (name withheld). Does it mean that the Restaurant my employer for that period of time?

3. How easy is it to get a visa renewed in Dubai?

4. The place of issue on the visa is Abu Dhabi? Does it mean I will have to live in Abu Dhabi?

5. Lastly, I will continue to ask what I don't know. grin
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by slimup: 5:05pm On Oct 15, 2014
@ tunnex, there is nothing like 2 months work visa pls. you only have two months visit/ tourist visas, and two years work permit which is after or when you have gotten a job.

If what you have is a two years work permit issued in Abu Dhabi, it means you will work in Abu Dhabi.
Average salary for waiter starts from 1000dhs to maybe 1500dhs.
Travel visas all over the world do not carry job specification and all that, except a work permit .I have my doubts though. But it will be better you check out the authenticity of the visa from the airline you intend flying with before you buy your ticket pls. I beg of you. Do that first and come back then we shall continue from there.

Thanks my brother, it is not written anywhere on the visa if it is a visit/tourist visa. The agent just told me that it is when I got a job there , then a two year work permit will be given to me and I can renew the visa there. That the visa is an entry visa. The visa carries my data and under profession; there I saw 'waiter' and below it I found 'accompanied by': (restaurant's name with phone number). The visa is still with the agent and she will be taking care of the ticketing herself as already agreed with payment

But considering the pay package; is anyone not using a calculator here..
Let do this, if u r expected to recieve lets say 70k/month as salary which I doubt and ur visa would be withdrawn for 1yr. In otherwords, u must work without any other choice for 840k per annum as income...
My brother and u have to make a travel arrangement with abt 400k minimum from Naija...so 840k - 400k = 440k balance..

Bros complete the rest urself...

@ zinicc, life is not calculated on the calculator neither is job always. The truth about living abroad is that wheat her you like it or not, there is always a long term gain, if not for you, maybe your kids.

I have seen people who work here in the UAE on commission basis, without salaries and yet, they are able to beat the odds for the 2 year period and begin on a clean slate.

You never can say what God holds for u, though the salary might be small, he can open several other ways of business for you that you don't expect.

The most important thing is to be sincere, focused and avoid fraudulent deals and persons, I can assure you that in no time your story will change.

@ tunnex 190, The truth is you are already neck deep into the visa issue with your agent. My advise is for you to be sure he or she is trusted because there are lots of fraudulent agents on this UAE route.

@slimup, is it really that easy to find a job in UAE when someone is on ground there?
Re: Ask Me Anything About Careers And Jobs In Dubai by slimup: 2:07pm On Oct 19, 2014
@ tunnex, it is not very easy if you put your mind @ a particular job. But if your options are open and you think you can do any job especially menial jobs, then yes it is easy to come by.

please clear the air for me. My husband has been working in Dubai for a year + now, before we got married. After our wedding, our plan was that I join him but I got pregnant. When I told him about the development, he said I will have to come in as a visitor and work in order to stay. I Agreed but later he said life in Dubai is too hard and I may not be able to cope with my condition. i insisted knowing i will be able to meet up with the challenges but later again he said they don't even employ pregnant women even tho my pregnancy isn't showing. So I told him he cud file in for me to live with him since we are married but he said I can't join him again because his salary isn't up to 5,000 of the currency there which will permit me legally to live with him. Please I will like to know how true are his claims. thank you.

@ Zuzzybaby, all your husband has told you is the truth and nothing but the truth. So just bear with him and pray for him to finish his 2years contract, get a better job, and be financialy bouyant to either invite you as a wife,or assist you get a job to do on arrival but that will be when you are strong enough and baby is big enough for school.
