Why are you gloating about a Chinese company? You were also bragging about GOtv which is a MultiChoice offering that, oddly enough, is not available to South Africans.

I don't know the subscriber numbers, but I think the best thing to do is to go through the Naspers annual report. http://www.naspers.com/

It's a good thing that you can read but I think that your biggest difficulty is in the reading comprehension department. Here's a poem to help your reading comprehension:
"Oho!" said the pot to the kettle;
"You are dirty and ugly and black!
Sure no one would think you were metal,
Except when you're given a crack."
"Not so! not so!" kettle said to the pot;
"'Tis your own dirty image you see;
For I am so clean – without blemish or blot –
That your blackness is mirrored in me."
Maxwell's Elementary Grammar, 1904.
Check that... Elementary Grammar.

Reading comprehension is not limited to written English. See what I mean?

I haven't bothered to read the Naspers anuual report, I was just leading you in what I think is the right direction. It could even turn out that you are right with your nuumbers.

Nah!

I am kind of tired of Paniki's apologist replies, He's been on it for years now.

I've never understood why you always accuse of being an apologist. If I'm an apologist then you certainly are one as well

Quoted below should qualify as a classic post by an apologist.

morpheus24:

Please don't speak for me, I do not "HATE" my fellow country men. They get a scolding from me when I see what "some" of them do IN SA out of desperation. I would challenge you to find any where I have mentioned or insinuated this.
Xenophobia and hatred of other Africans, especially Nigerians (obviously because of their large numbers) is a title reserved for South Africans no matter how hard you try to play the apologist in feeble attempts to rationalize your country men's attitudes. I do not do the same when it comes to mischievous Nigerians in SA . I call them out all the time.

You have to show where I have shown hatred for Igbos or have thrown support for unscrupulous activities committed by the bad eggs in their mists.

On the contrary Paniki is always explaining why his poor country men behave the way they do to African migrants. Broken record!

again, dstv's subscriber base in Nigeria is over 1 million [even babies know this]
http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201208270494.html/

if you care to know, startimes [late comers in the game] [starsaat in SA] in Nigeria has over 1,3 million subscribers
m.allafrica.com/stories/201306260617.html/

Do your research and leave unreliable vanguard.
Where is the proof for startimes, which does not even come close to DStv subscribers number in Nigeria.

you failed to convince everyone reading here that Nigeria has 800000 dstv subscribers .. even your source says SA has 4.5million subscribers .. provide a credible source for it and your middle class source.. else, STFU

The 4.5m subscribers number was for 2013, in 2014 it is 5m.
Dont feel so important to DStv, They still make 80% of their revenue in SA

Woolworths and other South African franchise stores that survive in Lesotho must be doing so by fluke. Or perhaps you just posted and absent-minded comment.

You forgot mentioning broke Zimbabwe. Nigeria is just hyped, The country is generally poor, with their fake economy.

Shoprite stores in Nigeria = 23
Shoprite stores in SA = 4 500

The so called richest country in AFRICA still produces 4 000MW of power for 170m people, and an annual budget of $23 Billion, i mean really, even Angola, an oil rich country, has bigger budget than that. Then where is the money?

And you know why we isolated ourselves and ended up being locked up from the land and forced to use passports? Because we couldn't stand the Boers so for peace sake we had to accept their terms and use passports but doesn't mean that we aren't South Africans.

Hahaha...I love the way you lie. Talking as if you had a choice after you were defeated and pushed you into the Maluti mountains and forced to stay there tot vandag. You're not South Africans. You're BaSotho from the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Finish and klaar!

So they feed us right? You make me laugh!!!

Yes we do and its becoming a bit much now. A nation of hardworkers depending on lazy people for practically everything is no laughing matter. But, mahlabisa dihlong

The water they use, especially Joburg city, where is it coming from

From our numerous rivers, streams, dams and lakes. Ke Joburg fela e sebedisang metsi from Lesotho dams - dams which we are investing billions of rands to help construct.

The cities you mention that were build and the gold who actually sweat there Who were the workers in the mines

Paid workers from the entire SADC region with South Africans as the major labour force.

I can insult South Africans the way I want, atleast I know I belong here by birth, by land and whatever rubbish you might wanna add. . Its called constructive criticism, its not meant to destroy but to build up.

Of course you can, but only behind your keyboard and the anonymity of the interweb. By birth; maybe. By land; NEVER! Insults are never constructive.

See Tribalism.

A Motswana claims basotho people are not "South African" but Boers are considered South African. One people have lived within this area for centuries and pretty much speak a different dialect from tswanas. The others can trace ancestry to europe

When I say the Motswana is from Botswana and not South African, I am accused

I rest my case.

A self-identified foreigner disses SA, South Africans retaliate and you choose to call this tribalism. You might get away with claiming xenophobia which is justified in this case. And I think Tumisang is Sotho judging by her many posts in SeSotho on that other thread.

You might be tempted to bring out the apologist tag, but please note that this post as with all others seek to only expose bad reasoning.

The House of Representatives moved on Tuesday to contain the “arbitrary” subscription rates charged by Multichoice for its Digital Satellite Television services in the country.

The House observed that high pricing by Dstv had made access to its “premium” PROGRAMMING difficult for the majority of Nigerians.
It also noted that lack of COMPETITION in the digital satellite broadcast industry had encouraged a monopoly giving firms such as Multichoice the “undue advantage” of blocking the efforts of other firms to enter the market and crash prices.
Lawmakers particularly opposed a “rigid” subscription policy that permanently billed subscribers “whether they are at home viewing programmes or not.”

A bill to stop such stranglehold on the industry passed second reading at the House on Tuesday.

The bill, which was sponsored by a member from Adamawa State, Mrs. Aisha Dahiru-Modibbo, sought to amend the National Broadcasting COMMISSION Act to guarantee openness and competition in the industry.

Ok, Morpheus retracts his "tribalism" statement and accepts Paniki's interpretation_ Xenophobia as in fear of a "foreigner" who is pretty much of the same tribe as you but lives a couple of miles away

You do not freaking go to somebody's country and cultivate the STUPID idea that this person is lazy. You all get out of south Africa then and go back to your countries show how hard- working you are.
This way of doing things is the same twisted way immigrants from Burkina Faso, Mali and Guinea -Conakry rewarded the people of Cote d'Ivoire who welcomed them for more than 50 years.

The only similarities with the two situations are the Malians, Burkinabes and Guineans came to Cote'd Ivoire to work because of the booming economy at that time, much the same as most African migrants down south. The so called southern "true" Ivorians instituted the "ivorite" and feared their control would diminish because of the mostly Muslim northerners that came in from other areas even though these groups traditionally had ties to the region that would become Ivory coast

South Africans are a different breed. Their xenophobia is born out of the inability to compete (hence the laziness accusation) and a sense that they are superior to other Africans.
