The truth is that there is nothing political about choosing a successor here. The church must know or needs to know whom God has annointed to lead them after E. Adeboye. God asked Moses to announce Joshua to His people, Samuel annointed Saul, when Isreal were asking for king, annointed David when Saul failed...David before His death anointed Solomon. You see, the church needs to know now so that there shall not rise an 'Absalom' or 'Adonijah' of our time. Shalom.

What happens to having the office of a Vice President or Deputy and the church constitution supporting a peaceful takeover by a designated subordinate ?

God is not an author of confusion..

Even Jesus handed the body of Christ over to Peter when he was still on earth. That is how things should be done..

" You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.. "...

This thread isn't as 'pointless', 'foolish' and 'useless' as some members have termed it. It is insightful. Absolutely.
We could only hope, pray that God's will be done. And, that Pastor Adeboye does the perfect will of God in this regards. As Christians, you do not do things because others are doing it. Nor do you run because others are running, but because God blew the whistle.

Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke already got a successor, though he is still alive, healthy and still preaches around the world....yet, he's got this part of the puzzle fixed, but, then, who are we to compare... Both are men of God and they recognise His voice.

Don't let Pastor Adeboye to 'number Israel'. It could be suicidal. Numbering Israel might be a good idea, but not God-inspired.

Prominent Redeemed Church Pastor Poisons Pst. Adeboye

Culled from http://christendomnewspaper..com/2013/04/prominent-redeemed-church-pastor.html?m=1
A prominent pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has attempted poisoning the Church’s General Overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye.

The cause of his attempt The Christendom Newspaper learnt was not unconnected with the soft-spoken man of God’s promotion and continued retention of the Church’s General Overseer’s position.

It was learnt that Pst. Adeboye was poisoned by one of the members of a power bloc, who is equally a prominent pastor during one of the Church’s meetings, which was held at the Church’s Redemption Camp, located along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The poison was said to have been injected into a cup of juice the man of God was meant to take.

However, just before Pst.Adeboye attempted taking the juice, the Holy Spirit revealed to him that the juice had been poisoned.

Upon this divine revelation, Pst.Adeboye demanded that the person who was responsible for the poisoned juice either confess or remain cursed.
Shortly afterwards, a prominent pastor in the Church, whose name was not given, stood up and begged for forgiveness.

The pastor whose identity was not given is said to come from Oyo State, South West Nigeria. He was formerly the provincial pastor of Lagos Province 7, many years back.

It is said that many top pastors of the Church are bent on getting Pastor Adeboye, who they consider due for retirement, out of the Church’s General Overseer position.

It would be recalled that at a point last year, Pastor Adeboye was advised to step down so as to pave the way for young pastors to take over the Church’s leadership.
Adeboye emerged the RCCG’s General Overseer in 1981, taking over from the Church’s original founder, Papa AKindayomi who died in 1980.

For more than two years, Pastor Adeboye held the position as a part-time pastor, still lecturing at the University of Ilorin, until he finally gave up his university lecturing job to become a full-time pastor.

Adeboye, since he had taken over the Church as the General Overseer, has succeeded in planting the Redeemed Christian Church of God virtually in all neighbourhoods. The Church now has branches in over one-hundred countries of the world, with over 14,000 branches in Nigeria.

Meanwhile while the religious arm of PDP - Pastor Adeboye, Orisejifor and co think about of their successors, we must hail and vote for President Jonathan for creating a wonderful Nigeria, especially for the people of Mubi and Vintim. Great job President Jonathan, great Job! Even Sky News has hailed your naivety and incompetence! Support Jonathan and his pastors. You may be next in the horrific photos.

I am a redeemer. The case of RCCG will be worst than that of CAC if he dies. So many branches of the church have been converted to personal parishes as a result of marginalisation from some ethnic groups in the church.

I once asked they shud give me the first five leaders of the church. What I noticed was that they are from same ethnic group. Does it mean they own the church? Does it mean they are more holy than the rest? So many questions...
Am coming back.
Talking...

@OP, why did u say u are not wishing pastor Adeboye death? See whether u wished him o or not, one day he will sleep and will not wake up again...even me too. Na those old days dey tell us say pple dey disappear like Enoch, but now if u disappear now and nobody see u, that's kidnapping and probably u must have been killed somewhere.

Good joke.

But this is not a joking matter..

Reason Pastor E. A. Adeboye Should Handover Now!

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has expanded greatly and it is still expanding. This tremendous growth has made it one of the richest churches in Africa(it may even be the richest). It has a large number of pastors with the head as Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Thank God you talked well cause I was coming to slander you.

If you are current with redeem you will know that there was a day he was feeling faint and he asked for a tape recorder to announce the next G.O through.... And its not a political post it is about if God asks him to this people's life are governed by God so pele its only if he receives directions.

The problem is some (if not many) are position covetous. It will surprise you the things these pastors use to canvass for position. They give gifts that do not come from their heart to senior pastors and show fake 'submissiveness'.

If Pastor Adeboye dies without putting his successor in the general overseer position, there will be a big problem. This problem will be similar to that of Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) of Apostle Ayodele Babalola. Despite how prayerful the man was, the events that followed his death were strange as pastors at a time used charms against themselves in the name of fighting for position. The factions of CAC now are many and the church lacks unity even till now.

The reason for my opinion now is death can come anytime. I'm not wishing Pastor Adeboye death o. What I'm saying is Apostle Babalola death came without notice. He had just prepared for a crusade and decided to sleep than he died. Also the recent death of Pastor Sadela (oldest man on pulpit) is a sign. A man that claimed God told him he will live up to 200 years died suddenly.

Anyway it is my opinion and this may be disregarded if God leads him not to handover now.

When the church was nothing they didn't scream his retirement now that the man of God has sacrificed so much they want to come and inherit it like its a political post or like pst Adeboye was employed there. Mtchewwww u better face your political post and look for young politicians to take over that.

They would soon kill all christians and occupy it with old islamic brains mtchwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Past. Adeboye has really done well! If my memory still serves me right, he already said it long ago that God already told him when to hand over. take for example, Winners Chapel, it is obvious that Pst. David Abioye is taking over from David Oyedepo, so @ poster i understand the fact that you meant well for the RCCG but not to worry God is always in control! The gate of hell shall not prevail against the body of christ shalom!

Churches that got divided after the death of their leaders were stronger when the leaders were alive. You can't trust humans. They can turn out to become something else after the death of their leaders.

You are wrong, the founder annointed Adeboye before his death.

No he is not..you have ur information twisted, he (founder - pst akindayomi) annointed the pst adeboye , introduced him to some elders in the church (not to the public) as the choosen one (next in line) paradventure he dies without notice and kept mute about it.. The mantle as the G.O didnt fall on Adebabyo until after the founder's death.

@op..the church grew this much without ur suggestions and/or intervention.. You can like to keep ur opinion to urself.

You people will rather die for. ..because it is Adeboye than die for the truth of God's word. We can't do anything against the truth my dear. Listen, I was almost ordained as deacon because my eyes was opened and I saw some unscriptural practices and I left. I can mention some names to you in rccg and you will be shocked how much I know RCCG.

The truth is, rccg have departed from the truth of the gospel and is now part of the babylon system of the world. This is no condemnation because there's no condemnation for those in Christ but we say the truth when those in Christ make wrong choices.

You're new in this section. People who know me knows my story as I don't hide nothing. I have narrated my rccg background here.

I was full rccg member for 3 years with full dedication, zeal and commitment. My parish then was Offa Central Model Parish. My pastor then, Pastor H.C.Monyeh. Area pastor, Pastor Oladoye, also a lecturer in Fedoffa during between 1996 and 1999. Go and do your findings and come back if I lie against the organization.

These above mentioned, I still have their contact but Pastor Monyeh left rccg to set up his own church. I guess he was tired of rccg bullshit where all revenues had to be remitted to HQ and you leave the church to struggle by themselves. Rccg will only support parishes where they administration knows they will get more returns. Dude, wake up! !! It's all about revenues and income dude. It's all about business and investments. People like me can smell bullshit across the Atlantic.

The writer has a great point. We need to snap out of this African mentality and start applying Christ like attitude. The Lord Jesus himself made plans for the continuity of the commission he didn't say until death do us apart. I think the G.O should consider imparting new leaders. Wisdom is calling! Who is Wisdom? Our Lord Jesus. Selah!
After all said...In no way must a servant of God be disrespected in anyway shape or form.
