Your man is worse than the average Nigerian man. Can he even be called a man? He is a weakling.

When did you become an advocate for men? @ vivly
They should just know they can't have it all, no one woman can be all.

I wonder where you get your notion about 'women from the West'

Everywhere, be it East, North, South, West, in the air or under the water...wherever that place it, a Man will never accept his authority to be challenged. That's his pride.

my point is, since you have your pride, you want to be head, why be uncomfortable when she wants you to play the role of a head when it comes to meeting her needs?

Sometimes I don't understand you guys.

Meeting her needs as per boyfriend and girlfriend or married couples?

A man marries a woman and assumes complete responsibility over her and her needs. The average man DOES that...whether Nigerian or not.

However a man is human and humans are generally selfish including women. So he might be selfish in meeting certain needs and so there might not be a balance. So that's where a responsibility comes in and he knows about it.

Besides a woman also should consider her man when meeting her own needs too.

I wonder what the women of today are striving for. A man is born, he struggles to survive, earn a living, marries a woman and sets up a family, he continues struggling to keep his family alive and dies while struggling. What else do you ladies want again?

So these are the average Nigerian men described above. Instead of changing the subject, answer the question, if you want equality, why not accept take it in all respects, or if you want to be the "man" why not be man in all things?

Why should you give him a slap? Is that what " western " women do?
What has paying bills got to do with being badly behaved, rude and uncultured? Even when I go out with friends we spilt the bill based on what we all ate does that mean I will now start challenging them, slapping them and being rude to them?

Young ladies please read and understand the concept and struggle of feminisim before you put yourself in trouble.

If you slap a man he has the right to give you a powerful slap back. If a woman in the west slaps a man he can sue her for assault and get paid loads of money in damages.

If I pay my own bills, spilt cheques and take care of myself it simply means I respect myself and know my responsibility towards myself and don't see a man as my atm.

You marry a man because you love him and respect him. That love and respect shouldn't be based on what he can or can't give you.

What stvpid simple question do you need me to answer love?
About being a man in all things, or about equality?

What has being a man in all things have to do with equality?
Aren't you ladies the ones advocating for gender equality?

It's you who should be answering your question - If you want equality, why won't you do everything a man does in exactly the same way he does it?

Things like opening the car doors for him, buying him a car for his birthday, taking him shopping & vacationing in exotic places/islands, doing manual/physical labour, getting down on your knees and proposing to him, providing half the cash to be spent on your fantasy I-want-to-be-driven-on-a-white-horse and wear a Vera Wang wedding dress on my wedding… etc. etc. etc. Should I go on? gringrin

Now do you understand why you're the hypocrite, or is it that you don't even understand what you're trying to talk about on your own thread?

I agree with you, most of them are hypocrites who want to have their cake and eat it too.

They want Nigerian women to pay bills like the western women yet they don't want to contribute to household chores like western men do in return. It's like Nigerian men think the women have some supernatural powers, she's supposed to go out in the morning just like him to earn money and then come back home in the evening after sitting in the traffic for hours just like him. Yet he expects that when he gets home his dinner should be waiting undecided she'll be the one to feed the children, help them with homework, do laundry etc the list is endless.

Men in the west understand that when a woman works just as hard as you do to help pay bills then you need to pitch in on the home front and not tell us how you are doing her a favour by cleaning the house you contributed to dirtying or washing the dishes . If you want women to take financial responsibilities then you need to pitch in on the home front , it's hypocritical to want the benefits if modernity but when it's time for you to do your part you then want to stick to traditional roles angry make up your minds

Absolute nonsense...

Many Nigerian women since the days of our parents have been going to work and coming back home to fix meals for their husband and kids, they aren't dead but still living their lives and building their homes, they not complaining - even most of the married and working women here on NL family section do the exact same thing in their homes but only come online to preach 'heresy' and lead the naive and highly impressionable folks astray.

Now let's do a reality check to see if you don't have your head so far gone up your azz;
How many married women with husbands who work and earn well, take care of the bills themselves without any input from him?

In fact I can bet you that in situations where both husband and wife work, the husband still bears more of the bills and expenses...do you disagree?
