Nope South African still loses. You have poor engineering knowledge, even basic science is hard for you to understand.

Mokopa itsels is a land based vehicle, tube launched missile converted to pylon line launch typed for aircraft launch.

Missiles have launch convertibility by simple engineering, PL-9 air to air missile has land based version done by China.

We will just ask China for slant tube configuration and we eat up all your Lynx helicopters and the Mokopa will be fuel for burning your Lynx

40km SAM Vs 10km Mokopa ATGM.....this is fun-time....kill-time....shooting practice
.

wtf are you even talking about?

It needs VLS tubes you halfwit

Bwahahaha grin grin

Hollywood style Air Show Demo for civilian spectators is NOT = War against an enemy that is armed to kill grin grin

South Africa has NO SINGLE qualified Gripen jet combat pilot today, they fly ONLY about 33 hours a year grin grin

No aviation fuel, no spare parts replacement money grin grin

SAAF is dead o !

See NAF pilot returning from combat with smoking gun, he flies part of the 1,148 combat sorties in 2 months and still flies almost daily !

.

you say we have no single qualified pilot - i just posted a video of a SAAF pilot doing advanced low level maneuvers

Gripen pilots average 50 hours per year on the Grip - USAF considers 50 hours to be a combat ready pilot and the french fly only 40

18 000 hours in the air and a new long term contract with SAAB says otherwise

LOL, not surprised it's a Southie coconut head speaking. You dont' know what ATGM looks like? Mumu.

Look at the tube mounted on the T-72 tank, that's a Nigerian anti-tank guided missile on our T-72 tank. Olodo
.

That's a green lie. Nigeria uses swingfire and that launcher look nothing like swingfire. Launcher does not equate to an actual ATGM.

I don't care what the fvck Wikipedia says, you South Africans are known to edit Wikipedia and tell lies there at random.

Any mumu can edit wikipedia today and mislead the fools that have no other source to confirm.

The Russian news report says clearly that Kondor is a civilian satellite, small sized and civilian, very civilian to the core.

If an air force buys civilian grade Boeing 737 jet for transport, does that make the aircraft a military grade aircraft?

The Kondor is civilian grade, used by Russian Ministry Of Defence NOT Russian army, case you don't know, Ministry of defence is a civilian organization basically and run by civilians, just like Ministry of Agriculture.

Kondor is a SMALL SIZED CIVILIAN SATELLITE.....if at all South Africa is the buyer, it's NOT military, spy, or recce satellite, its civilian and small sized like your under-sized brain ! Mumu !

Original Russian authentic source below :
.

Its built by a civilian company

for the Russian military

its a military satellite

The richest GDP does not equate to an actual wealth of one country. China is still regarded as a poor country and so does Nigeria. They might all have the richest GDP, but they remain poorer of the poorest. Any economist who would at wealth of any country in that direction will be thrown to places.

The correct list.

You don't say, now I see.

Your ears have been cursed indeed. What does airlifting of bodies of SAs has to do with the financial status of SANDF? SANDF chartered a huge plane on purpose because it does not have such a plane and neither does Nigeria. Your country did not even have expertise to conduct DNA and had to import SA professionals at the cost of SA government. Shame for a country that always beat up their chest about their best education when they could not do simple DNA testing without the help of most bright SA scientists.

move forward, step by step.

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 11:49am On Dec 21, 2014
It takes minimum of five years for a pilot to qualify as gripen fighter pilot. In 2010 when SA received their gripen C we had almost 8 pilots and 2 navigators and has since multiplied slowly to 14 pilots and 4 navigators, but now things have changed. The new kids on the blog will add to that number to make it 26 in 2015/16. Just keep on watching this space.

We are going forward surely but slowly.

I guote :

To solo on the Gripen should typically take new pilots five years, 2 Squadron's operations officer, Lt Col Musa
“Midnite” Mbhokota told journalists in October. This includes basic military training (three months), officers
forming course (a further three months), the Military Academy (one year) and basic pilot training (one year).
The latter includes 180 hours on the Pilatus PC7 MkII. Next follows some 390 hours on the Hawk at 85 CFS
before posting to 2 Squadron where conversion to the Gripen takes place, starting with six weeks in the
classroom followed by 70 hours on the Squadron Level Mission Trainer (a flight simulator) and a further 70
hours on the aircraft. Both periods include 30 hours of conversion training, 20 hours of air warfare training
and 20 hours of surface warfare training. It then takes a further six sorties to solo.

Actually SAAF Gripen Pilots averaged 224 hours per pilot in 2010, but due to budget cuts they only flew 110 hours in 2011, I expect thanks to the defence review and the fact SAAF received an extra R500 million in 2014 they are back flying more than 200 hours again.

4th GEN fighters you only fly 1 hour 30 minutes per month in, or the 9 pilots you have for a fleet of 26 planes.

Which is it really?

50 hours per pilot per year

14 Pilots

18 000 hours

You have zero 4th gen fighters

Simple maths didn't tell you, you bought 26 planes, and half are only now grounded because you lack the funds and pilots to fly them.

The SAAF has only 18 Air crew members.

17 C models
9 D models.

9 pilots and 9 navigators.

14 pilots because 14 pilots is what we need for our current threat profile.

SAAF has ensure that it has the equipment it needs to quickly expand its capabilities if the need arises. All armies in the world keep equipment in reserves.

Unlike Nigeria who got caught with its pants down with its miss-matched and short sighted procurement policy
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 12:43pm On Dec 21, 2014
Henry120:

Let's us see the challenges.

The SAAF,

Has it's entire A109 fleet grounded

Only has 3 C-130's for an area of 1.2 km

Has only 10 half-french helicopters for an area of 1.2 km

It lacks Avaition fuel

The service only has 9 pilots for 26 planes.

The service flies 56 years old Daks for MP duties

It lacks funds.

It also has half it's Gripen fleet in storage.

Is this service worth keeping afloat?

A109 fleet was grounded - pending paperwork. SOP in any airforce in the world.

C-130 needs is not defined by landmass. And A400Ms are back in the pipeline

Rooivalk needs are not dictated by land mass

18 000 hours out of 22 000 hours budgeted for means we have an excess of fuel

14 Pilots, inline with our defense posture and requirements

DAKs have modern avionics and engines - and are being replaced

It operates on a tight budget, but it is not lacking of funds

No Gripen are in storage

This service is one that Nigerians could only dream of having, coompared to your mismatched assortment of obsolete equipment that is either grounded or barely airworthy and that cannot full the needs your military has.

Henry120:

Yes, 9 Gripen pilots do not add up to 26 SAAF Gripens. The least should be 26 Gripen pilots for 26 jets, After 15 freaking years.

In 15 years from now, you still wouldn't have had enough pilots for your 26 Gripen jets. In 2029 the SAAF would have 18 Gripen pilots for 26 planes, and in 2044, 26 Gripen pilots for 26 planes.

The SAAF needs 45 years to train 26 Gripen pilots. undecided undecided

First we have 14 pilots

Second, we have 14 pilots because what we need is 14 pilots.

Time and training have nothing to do with it. Its based on needs and sending funding to more active and needed units

So no aviation fuel for your C-130's, proves our point.
