You are absolutely right, I went to school at Enugu and when it comes to light, they no get comparison. It hadly goes off, I wish they can extend that to Anambra too.
And nobody should mention Emeka Offor here, the structure has always been there. If the new distribution company in that region wants to show themselves, let them do so by making light available to all the towns in Anambra .

I am based in Portharcourt, Rivers State, I am greatly surprised that there could be 24hrs of power supply in this country. Even in Transamadi where I stay, we hardly have power supply for 12hrs at a stretch! Here is different! We all complain when there is no power supply and I feel it will not be wise enough to keep queit now we have been having light 24hrs/day consecutively for 8days except for on the 30th that power supply was ceased for few hours. You may be wondering where in Nigeria this great thing is happening. It is in a village called Obollo Nkwo in Udenu LGA of Enugu State. I wish there could be a way to prove this claim, unfortunately, there isn't any. I am sorry but that's the truth. I hope there has been an improvement inpower supply in other parts of this great nation, especially where you are. May God bless whoever is responsible for this and may he/she encounter constant supply of God's blessing through out 2015. I wish you constant power supply too if you are not having one currently. Hit like if there has been an improvement in power supply in your area.

Is that news? During xmas it has been a norm over the years, atleast since I learnt how to talk, every xmas period, you can go a whole week of power supply without interruption, but from 2nd week of January, you are on your own.
@Op is this supposed to be GEJ campaign strategy?

Don't mind the op and others shouting, they just move to nigeria not to know there is always electricity in nigeria when the weather is cool,I will like dem to come here shout when the weather is hot,I have not set my eye on light for past three days in my area and some peeps are here shouting .

Where i reside @ Federal Housing Kubwa, Abuj..The power situation is so Pathetic......seems like the switch was handed to a kid so he plays with it @ will,.The only time we enjoy light is during the evening, but afternoons and mornings are very terriblr, they seldom bring it and when dey do,you wont. Even press up to 3 clothes before they take their thing back...and its quite unfortunate that this is still happening 55years after The so called Independence...We Agreed that the Whites were racists or wicked, but we didnt have to nationalize all structures and chase dem away..This people created waterways, rails, education, politics et al,infact they created the blueprint for Nigeria,it was just unfortunate that Nigeria got into inexperienced sentimental hands who couldnt manage their tribed talkless of a Nation..Look at South Africa, then compare to Nigeria?..They allowed the british to nationalize there so they could continue to maintain what they started and also learn first hand from them...But In Nigeria our greed and quest for power caused our downfall, lemme say a truth on this thread today, Soon not anytime soon though,Nigeria will be plunged in crisis and eventually war becaUse we are not just compartible @ all..the hausa hates the south south, the yoruba snitches on the east, The fulani thinks he owns Nigeria et al...we are a bad example for democracy,no wonder during military regimes we thrived though not good enough

On a very sincere note, saje area in abeokuta where i stay has been on the receiving end of stable power supply. Despite this seemingly laudable improvement, I've only been wondering why we had to suffer for almost 6yrs in utter darkness just to enjoy a good shot of clean energy in less than 70 days to election. Could this be a well timed plan to hoodwink us to voting this controvertial administration for another term?

What the op wants us to do in this new year, is to roll out the drums and dance in the market-square because power supply has improved in some parts of the nation, while some areas are still in the Dark ages.

Constant power supply is our right..... Since the op has opened a thread rejoicing over power supply, he might as well open a thread thanking the government for his life, for the spaghetti he ate this morning, and for allowing him impregnate his wife as many times as possible without any restrictions whatsoever.... angry

Was it not our right 16 years ago when Obasanjo took over made plenty of noise and brought Bola Ige as Minister?
Did you see any improvement back then

We shall continue to acknowledge PROGRESS so we can CONTINUE on the way forward with better testimonies.

160 million Nigerians acknowledge that our right to light is gradually being restored after so many years of being DENIED that right by other clueless & daft leaders who blew our budget for NOTHING.

Therefore we say:

Sorry if you felt bad about my sincere write up. Why we have courts here and there with judges is to ensure that one's right, which cannot be gauranteed all the time is protected. Tell me you have gone to Power holding office to explain to them that light is your birth right and I wouldn't have any reason to quote you again. You don't have to complain all your life. When there is an improvement, commend whoever is responsible. Am sure you won't loose your title as a Professor if you do that!

Actually for Nigeria this is where the problem / challenge is. You can not be generating 4000MW for such a large population and hope there is / will be light for everybody. 4000MW for upto 170million people is close to nothing. What about industries, firms, where do they get their supply from? Everybody has to share the 4000MW

And what is even painful it's the fact that it takes quite a long time to build power stations. Anything between 3 and 6 years for a 4500MW station. Nigeria has got a lot of hard work to do. You need a lot more - seriously a lot.

Comparing with the South African situation:
Currently SA generates at 39150MW and soon will be about 48000MW with a population of 52million people.

Nigeria with a population of plus 165million should do with a generating capacity of around 168000MW. Currently sitting at 4000MW, there is a difference of 164000MW that must still be attained to - and with a generating capacity of up to 6000MW per station - at the most 27 more stations has to be built.

May the powers that be in that country find the courage to face this challenge head on assist the nation. It would be very good for the entire African continent if this could be done.
corrections south Africa is currently on 45000MW and soon will be about 53000MW!
