can you mention any first world country without welfare package for the unemployed?

We Are not first world are we? We are not even second world WE Are THIRD WORLD for crying out loud....................... I can mention first world economies with welfare packages, I can also mention failing and struggling facets of Their economies and I can also mention the fact that they don't have unsustainable population explosions like Nigeria with semi-literate and largely unskilled workforce/labour markets. moral of the story u embark on a welfare system when there's abundance and introduce austerity measures when there's economic tremors. That's what I'm saying. Aside that how will nigeria budget for its welfare considering statistics is poltically motivated and partisan.

do u really know he principles of govt and politics? Do u know what a state is? Do u know what patriotism is? Why do we sacrifice soldiers for the survival of state? A man has bout 80yrs to live every state is expected to live forever, to ensure that happens, the economy, sovereignty and unity of that state must be protected. Despite the fact that allocation from Mr CLUELESS OTUOKE for APC states like OSUN being halved , Aregbesola still feeds schools, gives them free uniforms, opon imo and even though constructions are slow, work is still going on in ever major project

If an Ordinary state governor can implement that, I am sure Buhari as a president can make it work too .

Otuoke has been paying jobless kidnappers and armed robbers whom he pardoned more than 40k per month for oyel money and for laying down thier arms , But he's failed to implement 19k Minimum wage for all real workers

Mind you if Buhari can implement feeding and monthly stipend for poor Nigerians , No administration will find it easy to remove , It takes one man and his mind to make a change

I'm leaning Buhari but I'm just not ready to be a socialist. These ''free-free-dash-dash'' ideas is a huge mistake and it's wrong for Nigeria. The last thing we need is to begin to encourage a welfare state and the inefficiencies that come with it. It is just highly unsustainable and will be too tough to gut. GMB should be talking more of how to grow the private sector and address infastructure because that's where the real jobs come from.

Exactly, if we are afraid of starting (or dont even want to bother to start at all), when then are we going to get out of these mess?
The whole world is leaving us behind!
Countries like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, e.t.c., all started about the same time Nigeria gots its own independence as well.
See where they are now and compare Nigeria to them..... despite the fact that these countries dont have a litre of "Free-Oil" to energize their economy!

Our greatest problem is CORRUPTION (which "Otuoke Professor" said is "mere stealing"!) and ANY PERSON THAT CAN TAME THAT MONSTER IS WELCOMED TO RULE THIS COUNTRY FOR SOME TIME.

Even if a "He-GOAT" can tame corruption in Nigeria, l want that ewu-Goat to rule Nigeria for four years. I dont care whether the Goat is Muslim, Christiam, Igbo, Yoruba or has a PhD in economics.
What l need now is a "strong-minded and disciplined leader".

On detailed analysis, GMB fits that profile far more than Jonathan. Period!

This is why l will chose GMB over Jonathan.
If you replace Jonathan with someone like that Cross River state Governor or Gov. Fashola, then l will chose them over GMB. Its all logic.

You are right PRODUCTION AND JOBS is the KEY......... but the current situation of Nigeria is like "When trees fall on each other, you remove the 'top-most' FIRST"!
Poverty is making people sell their conscience!

Our Political leaders "deliberately" impoverish our people so that it can be easy for them to get manipulated, based on "One Muudu of Rice and a gallon of groundnut Oil"! Just imagine..... voting based on two things that are so cheap and basic to survival?

When you remove "abject poverty", using social engineering like "Welfare sustenance".... The people are then put in a position to "assert their rights" in any situation.

Let me sight an example: Every time people go out to protest a "bad govt policy", you would notice two things:

1.) In the "welfare states" of Europe and America, they can sustain this protest for weeks, until Govt gives-in to their request

2.) In Nigeria, that protest lasts barely TWO DAYS and fizzles out!
People have to go back to their "source of living" (Shops, Work, Trade, e.t.c)

If you have tried like me, to "dissect" the reason for such "cowardly attitude" (?), you will realize that it is because there is "No Social Cushion" for the Nigerian masses, compared to their say European counterparts who can still EAT, SLEEP IN A HOUSE, ENJOY ELECTRICITY, EDUCATE THEIR CHILDREN, e.t.c .... despite their Protest lasting for a Month!

Their Nigerian counterpart, inflicted with "abject poverty" and devoid of any "Welfare or Social Security" would have ene long-dead and buried within one Week!

That my friend, is why l think it is a right "baby-step", in the right direction.
"Poverty makes an animal of an otherwise decent humanbeing"

Lastpage!

NB: As to how he will fund it, l tell you, if you know the amount of "looting and mis-management" that goes on inthe Nigerian system (Did NNPC not just "disappear 20Billion Dollars recently?), you will agree with me that we have the resources to do it..... if only we can plug the leaks, as is done in those foreign countries.

Jonathan does not have the mental capacity nor the courage and willingness to tackle corruption.
GMB (judging by his record when he was head of State with Idiagbon) has shown the "willingness and capacity" to do so.

As a "rational person", I will hedge my bets with him for now. wink wink undecided
