what if his invitation letter states that he will foot her bills, woud that be enough grounds that her expenses wouldnt be an issue?

It may not be a good idea, the VO expect that for you to go and give birth in the States, YOU should be able to foot your bills, but you can't rely on this information, I am not a 100% sure.

Good morning all,

I am trying to complete my DS-160 form for my visa and it is asking for visa type. There is an option for Business/Tourism (B1/B2) and the Tourism/Medical Treatment (B2). Please which one is appropriate for someone going to give birth over there?
Also there is a place that asks this question: Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?. A cousin of mine about 3 years entered my name for the US visa lottery program. Although I didn't win, does this qualify for me to answer a yes for the question?
Please help me out.
Thanks.

Ok, thank you for honest response. One more thing, is $4,000 to little to present as cash to be carried by my wife? What would be the least acceptable cash a VO can accept?

$4000 won't cover oh. Bear in mind that the dollar rate is high right now.It depends on what you present. If you present bill of 8k and show statement of 4k.... am sure I need not say more.

Hello everyone.
I got my visa 2days ago. All the information I used( and I mean ALL) was obtained from this thread.
I'm grateful to all who have contributed in no small measure to this thread. You guys are fulfilling dreams and changing lives!
Indeed honesty is the best policy.
My steadfast daily visit to this thread since August 2013 plus having 2 jotters full of info has finally paid off. I remember the days/reign of uchetobi, thababe, jyde2014 etc around this time last year, and used to fantasize when my dreams will turn to plans and then to reality.
Please a quick question( can't find the page where someone posted all the airline policies/restrictions regarding preggies. Can someone please help with that?
Also please has anyone used Lufthansa to Houston? How was the experience?
Thanks once again, and may God bless everyone richly.

Congratulations on your visa, I guess that page went with the tsunami, but I would advise you to check the airlines policy directly from their website, they may have changed the it and you won't know.

Congratulations to all new mums and all those that got their visas and all those successful at POE. Just had my baby girl yesterday evening at Hackensack UMC Mountain Side NJ. Not really impressed with the services of the hospital but the doctors were quite good.

Sincerely speaking, this won't fly. You will just be telling the VO that you and your wife cannot afford to give birth in the US and that is a red flag.

You either wait till you have enough money in your account before applying or apply with the little you have and hope for the best.

Couldn't agree with you more.BIG RED FLAG as this goes beyond cash but actually points lesser ties to home country.

Hi. Your brother should in addition to writing the letter of invite/sponsor, should include his statement of account, info page of his U.S. passport, pay stub, mortgage papers with or without letter of introduction frfamily. his place of work. Things to show he's capable of hosting her and paying her bills.
In terms of hospitals in LA, you see Cali is the most expensive state in the U.S.... Look up or pm Mama Tobenna, she's headed to LA and she can discuss the offer she got there.
Hope this helps. All the best for your family.

@favouredB Congratulations on the arrival of your lil one. This one that you are not impressed with the hospital is scary o as it is what am planning to use. I know your hands must be busy now, but please when you can, kindly share any useful information we should look out for in using the hospital. Thanks dear

For MD it depends on the hospital itself. For Providence Hospital in the DC area its from 10,000 upwards depending on the method of delivery. Your passport will be required for registration and identification.

Have you ever considered having a home birth or your wife having the baby in a birthing center? Its amazing the service and care birthing centers offer. You are attended to by qualifed mid-wives and they are way cheaper and the environment serene. There is nothing to fear in having your baby at the birthing center, you'll be glad you did.

These days there are so many interventions during delivery at the hospital, that sitautions you never planned for occur. Check out this website www.specialbeginings.com .

For ante-natal you pay $107.00 per visit. Other tests are cheaper, with you beside your wife you two can make it happen at a birthing center. Its about 45 mintues from MD, so you will have to drive there for every ante natal visit and during labour.
Passports take a minimum of 4 weeks to come out. You have NIgerian embssies in NYC, ATL and MD. Its a lot to take in, but do all your plans and research.

Hello WAVixen. Thanks for the info. My sister is 2 month preg now and she intend having her baby in the US. She has a 2 year Visa and she intends travelling July. Please can she get a birthing center in california because thats where we have a relation. Also whats the package like? The website youdropped isnt openint too. Thanks.

@anonymousmum and others who just delivered their LO safely I say congratulations.

@All who had successful POE. Congrats as well.

My journey to having my child after almost 12 years of marriage has been concluded with part one: getting pregnant, delivering my baby safely, giving birth in America, returning home safely and dedicating her to GOD have come to pass.

We are back home safely with the heat, no regular light, etc that makes najia special. I have enjoyed myself richly in this thread and will be retiring officially till the part two of the journey commences. I wish all the nursing mums, pushing mums, pregnant mums and supportive fathers success in your efforts. GOD who wiped my tears and turned it to joy will also see you through all your endeavours, IJN Amen.

congratulations @mamacajah God bless your new bundle of joy.
