I don't really see much of a 'feat' in his fixing your formerly virus-laden laptop. In fact, it is one of the basic things one should be able to do with a computer. Recovering a laptop from a virus attack is quite easy and can be done by a system restore to an earlier date preceding the virus attack, to re-imaging the laptop and what have you.

I really suspect you downloaded a malware which installed several funny looking applications on your system and toolbars on your browser with funny-looking pop-up windows here and there. This is a common issue today and isn't the least difficult to fix by simply using an Ad Block software to block the pop ups after uninstallation of the malware applications. This is part of what I help staff members do at my current job on campus - remote IT troubleshooting of their work computers right from my desk in my office.

Norton is terrible FYI. Kaspersky and Emsisoft are much better solutions. However, if you really want to know, having a good firewall or ASA hardware appliance will help at keeping most attacks at bay. Knowing how a hacker thinks and adapting to their thought process will help. Read the article in my profile about let's talk network security. It goes into further detail

What have your people invented or done to help or influence the world. I am waiting. Even in Africa look at the poorest of the poor are in places with a mindset such as yours. A place where they deem western education as evil and view girls as only good for breeding children. A place where they would have children herd cows rather than learn in school.
